- Oil catch cans prevent oil vapor and condensation being caked onto the intake valves of a GDI engine. Not 100% will be ever be caught, but enough to keep the intake cleaner than not!

Its actually a b46 engine, as b48 was used in the F bodies before the G20
This is my first BMW. Someone told me it was a B48, so I've been ordering parts based on that...and they fit. But when I look up the G20, it's exactly what you said it was: a B46. I looked up a B48 engine, and the covers don't even look like mine!
I'm gonna change all my video titles to B46 because I think you know what you're talking about versus what someone else told me! Thanks for the education. You shared it with me, and now I'm sharing it with others! That's how we keep TH-cam true, brotha. I appreciate you, Josh. I never claimed to know everything, but I do my best. I listen well, and I research, too. When you left that comment, I went and did a little research....you educated me and I'm thankful for it, brotha!
The difference isnt between chassis years, b48 vs b46 is all related to emissions regulations for the US models. B46 is US only but theres barely any difference unless you change your downpipe or go catless because they are different
It’s literally the same engine the only difference is b46 was made for US due too emissions. Nth was change other then the name.. u can hardly tell em apart.
@@kinglouissss6509 basically the same engine but b46 is probably more durable imo and b48 was also used in US but for F body BMWs only, all the G bodies have b46 engine
@@MicDropBBQ Regardless, respect to you brotha! In the garage getting it done nevertheless.
I really fw the way you keep the sock connections bout to do that shit on my car😭
Yup. And I added hose clamps on ALL the ends because boost was building up and pushing thru the hoses. I didn't think of that part. LOL! So now, the hose clamps that came with the kit are all 4 installed. And I bought a 1" copper 90-degree plumbing elbow from Home Depot to remove the part that was bent. Had to cut the hose, insert the elbow, remove about 6" of hose, then reinstall that one hose with the elbow. Worked like a charm! Now it looks like it's factory...but a nice, golden copper piece tucked under the bottom. Hose clamps around that, too. Holds pressure building up from the boost come from the turbo outlet going BACK into the system.
Those stock connections keep it looking stock and easier to fit with what's already on the car. I saw how they fit and was like, "...yeah, I ain't changing them out. I'm using those! LOL"
These videos make auto mechanics look so easy! I love it though!! I hope that catch can helps with keeping those valves nice and clean!
Oh, I love taking stuff apart! LOL! I can't have a new car because it would be in a million pieces! The moment I bought that Jeep, I already had the axles lowered, wheels ordered, and was painting everything while I drove the Escalade around. I don't mind being in the garage at all, brotha! Love the smell of all that crap in there! LOL! Smells like WORK!
@@MicDropBBQ Trueee!!!
Need one for mine. Current mods for my b46/b48: bm3 flex fuel kit, im450 turbo, ftp turbo inlet pipe, cts turbo catless downpipe, custom e25 tune. This and exhuast gonna be my next mods
You got all the mods I need!! Hahaha! I want the downpipe next. Either that or the turbo inlet pipe. I saw a guy with a 500hp turbo on a blue B48. He's on TH-cam. Crazy!
I'd like to tune mine next Spring, but money ain't looking good at the moment. Lotta stuff on the backburner now.
A man with many skills👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Thank you! I stay in the garage working on SOMETHING.
Nice info love your channel and content
Thank you, my brotha! We're here to do the FULL business of rideshare around here, brotha. If we can protect engines, they'll last a lot longer! This is how we keep profits in our pockets and not in the palms of shops looking to gouge a car owner.
Good job brother!
B58 gang stand up.
Hell yeah! LOL! We the B48 gang trying to keep up! LOL!
Also as we speak Lyft and Uber drivers are Protesting at our Airport right now indefinitely. Those passengers are pissed😂😂It's all on the news..
Well, they can pay drivers straight up for a ride! The apps are the plantation that we tired of being on!

i've always had a love for the 09 10 335d - if it wasn't for the CBU every 40 - 80k miles I would grab one - you suppose a catch can would really help?? I heard it was more EGR related
The EGR recycles mainly fuel emissions/gasses, and that's the carbon buildup from crappy fuel that doesn't burn efficiently. Oil in the cylinder would burn in the cylinder and make smoke come out of your exhaust, whereas oil coming thru the valve covers doesn't burn. It's pushed by pressure. This also creates condensation and vapor, as well as droplets that enter thru the air system, where detonation and burning in a cylinder doesn't occur.
And I don't know the setup of that vehicle. I'd have to see how the valve and all of that would be. But if it's a gasoline engine, the intake always gets oil in it because of the PCV valve going from the valve cover to the air intake. The difference is how the valves are cleaned. If you can get fuel on the valves, you've got a higher chance of keeping them clean. GDI engines don't get fuel on the valves.
I looked at the link you sent for the catch can and it says it’s for e chassis vehicles is this the same one you brought for your car?
I don't know what an oil catch can has to do with a chassis, as the catch-can literally connects to the intake system. The one I bought works with my car, and my car is a 2019 BMW 330i XDrive. I have a whole playlist of things done to this car, so if you got the same car, you won't have issues.
Looks good. Id Like to see how much its collected on 500m/1000m .
I'll pull it in about 3 months and do another video. I'll get the mileage today and have the mileage when i do another video.
Don’t forget about us 💪🏾
Hey! great video, thinking about doing it on my 430i f32. What’s the size of the rubber tube?
It cane with the kit. I think I have it in the description. I haven't looked, but I always try to add relevant things in the video descriptions, especially on mods.
thats carbon fiber if i ever saw carbon fiber
hahahahaha! I just dont have the full carbon fiber cover, but I got a lil bit. LOL!
what if your shorten the hose and run it infront of the other one?
It will still kink because of the angle of the outlet. I'm gonna have to face the oil can towards the engine once I upgrade the airbox. Have two straight hoses.
@@MicDropBBQ makes sense
What u think about that BMW supra ?
Never heard of it.
I want to do one on my mazda
It does trap a ton of oil in my Jeep. I need to empty it today and do a quick video of it.
@@MicDropBBQ its annoying the factory does not install onw
Bimmer Bucks TLC
That should be the new BMW shop name! LOL!
