I have to say that I absolutely love this piece of kit for how much care went into this as a total reshell and conversion of the figure, bonus for having no partforming and also retaining the combined mode with some upgrades to help it work.
combiner mode might be a bit more stable with the perfect effect combiner wars upgrade kit which would work perfectly as it only really replaces the hands and feet of the combiner form.
I think I have a solution: get your hands on a Perfect Effect PC08 upgrade kit for the combiner with bigger feet and better hands which means a somewhat better toy stability! Only one question remains...will my suggested kit be a perfect match to the one you used? Try to review it.

To be fair, while adding an ankle tilt isn't a lot, that IS a super helpful addition to schmucks like me who are into leaving their figures in action poses but are too cheap to buy proper figure stands. lol

Messing around with my White one, there is a way to lock some of the leg hinges in place in combined mode. Peg the parts that are on the "front" of his combined mode legs into his regular upper legs in the same way you do in vehicle mode by moving them along that sliding rail they're on. This will lock his regular robot knees in place. and somewhat buff his scrawny combined upper thighs up to the same thickness as the rest of them.
I'm still mildly surprised no company made a trailer that turned into limbs for him (or for that matter, Energon Optimus' 4 drones given the inspiration behind the base figure's combined mode)

Unfortunately, what this upgrade proves more than anything is that a Voyager is still too small to be a good torso for a combiner, and you really do need a leader class figure (or slightly bigger I suppose) to make it look natural.
Hey Emgo I love your videos & I found on my Primo Vitalis, when you go into combined mode, if you put the new blue leg side panels back into truck mode, it will lock the leg into place
i kinda hated the design for vanilla combiner wars prime so im glad that a kit like this exist, please tell me that they have kits for other combiner wars voyagers as well
Man this looks great! The only problem for me is I am trying to stay in the Voyager class scale (for my Prime/Megatron size figures) and this bumps him even past a leader class. Wish there was a kit that gave him this aesthetic but didn't add to his size. I love the look though and would make a great stand alone display Prime.
almost makes me regret that I had gotten rid of it. this upgrade kit is really awesome looking, a good bit of work based on the other video you had. but seems so worth it in the end. makes me warmer to the idea of upgrade kits for transformers toys by different companies (especially if it is upgrading what Hasbro makes. ha ha). the colors probably differ just because of some patent or copyright rule(s). great and thorough looking review. Optimus has definitely had his pizza bagels, leg days, back days, shoulder days. ha ha. I like the way the sword/axe was done
Hey EmGo! Thanks for your review, it gave me reason to actually get the set. I wanted to say, I came up with a solution to create more sturdy legs. I keep the legs facing back, and use that slider on his leg for vehicle mode to stabilize his legs. It seems to work for me. So if you haven't found your own method, i hope you like it!

What would make a super awesome addition to this upgraded combiner prime would be a trailer that can form a battle base, and form arms & legs that attach to combiner form prime and look similar to the limbs formed by energon wing saber. Make prime effectively a combiner onto himself. The ultimate super mode.
His combined mode head is a great homage to Galaxy Force Galaxy Convoy/TF Cybertron Super mode Prime. Which itself was made for a homage to the Return of Convoy's Star Convoy.
You need to combine the PC-08 perfect combiner to make it maintain its balanced, it make a world of difference, in my opinion it also make it look a lot cooler
OMG looks beautiful!!! I have Toyworld Orion and this upgrade brings it to that IDW look and with a better looking noggin. Stylish!!! And the size/class bump is glorious! Combined mode functionality is unfortunate :(
I knew the kit would cost more than the figure. But for $50 it does make it look sweeeet! I really do wish Ha$bro would put more effort in to the figures instead of effectively forcing collectors to shell out to much more expensive third party companies to make the figures look and work better....although I suspect they spend their design budget on Star Wars for all that Disney cash...
These are TOYS that we are talking about, meant for KIDS. The collectors that you are talking about were never Hasbro's main target. Sure, It is nice when we get figures with many features and of good quality, but you have to remember that kids don't care so much for those.

This kit is a huge improvement, and you're 100% correct EMGO, it's a night and day difference... But, for me this version of Prime is still the worst we've seen in years (at least at the Voyager scale). It still blows my mind that just a year to a year and half prior to this release they had released the Voyager AOE Evasion Mode Prime which was one of the best designs and executions we've seen for a Voyager Prime.
I like how the combined mode's chest/torso plate looks kinda like the autobot symbol.

Paint the upgrade kit purple and it could be put on the g2 repaint of motor master for a pretty good shattered glass look
the perfect effect upgrade kit could work for the figure and the figure now have big feets and fully articulated hands

X2 toys made an awesome one that scales well with this Optimus. This Prime and that Megs are now my go to leaders in my collection

My only problem with this kit is the combined mode chest. It's just so bare and doesn't cover up enough and it looks awful.
