    If I had to do this again I would use something other than a piece of cardboard as a platform for the cards. This may expidite the timeframe.

      What if you poke holes in the cardboard with a pin, allow humidity to flow through a bit easier...?

    Some things I learned after searching every 1993 box for sale and opening a few.... Pressure on the box is a big factor. If you see the red sticker bent inward there a good chance something was sitting on top of it. So the heat combined with the pressure sticks them together over 30+ years. Look for a clean reflective sticker and a bubble on the top carboard piece (you wanna see into the box). You don't want to see a white border on top of the box. That means the top has been pushed down. Pay attention to the plastic wrap...it should be soft. If it feels brittle then there's a good chance there's been a lot of moisture.
    Awesome Video....gonna try this method soon!

    First time I’ve heard of this method but it makes perfect sense. Definitely need to try this on a couple stadium club boxes I got 😀 Thanks for sharing!

      Those are great candidates. If you can save any cards it is a better option than destroying them in my opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Kickass work, True Blue. Real grassroots science experiment that saved your cards - congrats~! It seems that your cards have a more pronounced texture after the procedure; they haven't lost any gloss, they just seem to have some relief whereas they are Kansas-flat from the manufacturer's presses. Do you notice that? Maybe a light pressing during the drying stages will keep textures from developing under the gloss finish(?). So would you change out a textured plastic tray for the cardboard rack in your setup? Also, I would think that constant temperature would be better for the process than the jolt that direct sunlight would bring. You should put "Stadium Club" in your video description with a hashtag - it will invite an interested audience~!

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks. I didn’t really notice much in texture after the cards were done. I graded a good amount of them and got 9’s and 10’s for most. I think only got a couple 8’s. I would imagine using some sort of smooth glass or plastic plate with weight would help with any sort of potential texture from the added moisture. I would stick with the plastic container and use a raised cardboard base to help keep excess humidity in check. A heat lamp with constant temp would likely yield better results.

      @@TrueBlueCollectibles How much time elapsed from out of humidity box to bone-dry and in toploader (total drying time)?

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jimfree0 about 1 day. But doing it again I might use a sheet of plexi with some books as a few of the cards did curl a little like chrome baseball cards do.

      @@TrueBlueCollectibles I've watched @kurtscardcare take soaked cards to totally dry using the pressed plexiglass method, but he always uses penny sleeves or closed-cell foam sheets to prevent sticking to the plexiglass - especially with hi-gloss cards like yours, I'd be cautious not to brick your card anew to the plexiglass~!

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles

      Day one we didn’t have it in sunlight, day to and three we did. I think in direct sunlight would speed it up a bit.

  • @Leef13

    Got my box today! So excited to try this. Been trying to complete this set for years. Where did you keep the Tupperware for the process? At Room temp in the window? I heard you say “give it some sunlight”

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Giving it some sunlight will help speed up the process. Just monitor it so they don't absorb too much moisture and start to swell. If I had to do this again with another box I would use something other than cardboard to separate the towels from the cards.

    • @Leef13
      @Leef13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, got my box today. Ill try like a screen or like small soap rack. I have done humidified stuff with comics but it warps them. Which doesn’t matter cause you press them after. Obviously cards are different material so I guess you don’t get the warping issue. I’ll keep you posted. I tried freezer, steam, slapping them on table methods. I even tried microwave. Nothing worked.

    • @Leef13
      @Leef13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried with a single pack so far. 2 of the cards fell off like you said. So Deff works though it’s only been about 24 hours. The cards seem to be warping at the edges. Corners and sides getting soft and printing coming off from cardboard portion. Any suggestions? Less water? Less heat exposure? Lower heat? Any process you used post humidification to dry them out?

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Leef13 make sure you wring out the towels a lot to were they are just damp. After they come out just lay them out as humidity will leave them as well. If you just stack them up they will stick again.

    I live in South Florida, do you think this will work by putting the plastic box in the garage (same setup)? It warms up pretty good in there, then cools off a little at night. Or do they need a more consistent temperature/kept in the house?

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be good, only concern is overnight. You want to add humidity, but with the big swings from day to overnight you likely will want to bring inside so it doesnt "rain" on the cards inside the box.

    • @TrueBlueCollectibles
      @TrueBlueCollectibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No issue with curved cards. But pay close attention to them. As soon as they would separate they came out of the container. I let them them sit out for a day or two but no pressing used. Only thing I do before grading is wipe with a microfiber cloth.
