    Like so many things Napoleon, I feel like this is one of those things the British said once and it then became widely accepted.

    You say Napoleon didn't have access to a time machine, but I have seen Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and I know he did.

    When Napoleon took over the Papal states he simply took the Catholic Churches time machine in order to destroy the Sphinx

    Fortunately I the first time I heard this ridiculous myth was from somebody debunking it, many years ago. So I didn't ever fall for it.

      Archaeological research has shown tool marks, I think there's enough evidence it was indeed chopped off.
