The Siege Cannon will be the default for most people. And with that defensive profile, you're not forced to deploy them hidden and only fire indirect. That siege cannon out in the open levelling its gun into most tanks will be glorious. Aethetics: 10/10 Statlines: 7/10 (3 out of 4 guns will rarely see use) Ability: 4/10 (battle shock still just isnt that important) Also worth noting with the new MFM points, this is only 5pts less than the FOB. A comparison there could be interesting
From what we've seen from math crunching, it's looking like FOBs are better against infantry blobs and siege cannon is better against tougher targets, which makes sense. However, between the two of them it sadly makes the weaker anti-inf loadouts on these guns poor choices. ...Especially the rockets, which are so poor that even the siege cannon competes with them against light infantry.
One thing to keep in mind with remorseless barrage is that it happens in your Shooting phase. So often it won't be much good for denying objectives to enemy units via battleshock because they'll go back to normal at the start of their next command phase before scoring (unless you took them down to half strength, in which they're taking a test anyway) Great video! I love your old models and so glad you get to reuse them for the new codex!
I think it’s a really cool unit that I’m super happy to have but they really dropped the ball with balance. It should not be this hard for a large company like GW to make more than one gun good on a unit and to give it an actually useful ability.
put them 3 in cover and use em to shoot directly with take aim from a 3 orderer and they will cover a decent part of your anti tank firepower. if the opponent outmaneuvers your firing angles you still can shoot indirectly.
I like this unit since we don't have anything else like it now and it's gorgeus but I feel there are some unfortunate things they could have done differently. I don't like the 3+ save, it's not a tank. The toughness and wounds are easier to understand but I still think this should have been a bigger step down in durability from the vehicles. The other fault is making the big gun so much better than everything else against most targets. I will still probably use one in my army since it's the new Manticore realistically but my go to artillery will probably be the FOB for it's mixed purpose profile.
Now you can place it in a firing lane for direct fire and just use the indirect until a direct target presents itself. Stack 3 in a firing lane and the enemy will never show their face in that area of the board. If they do you are rough enough to survive most firepower. Maybe lose 1. Then return fire. In the turns units hide from it. Use the indirect option.
Why does GW keep trying to make abilities that cause battle shock when that ability basically only affects 1 army in a major way. And that’s guard. I think we are the only faction that looses acces to their army rule (order) when battle shocked. Everyone else just can’t use stratagem.
It's a shame that the rocket especially is so badly balanced compared to the others. Like you can compare it directly to the heavy mortar statline in the table and every column is identical or worse. Against its intended target of 1w light infantry the heavy mortar wounds on a 2+ so even the anti-inf 3+ is worthless. If they keep them low strength they should at least give them a massive number of hits - make them the 'saturate the target with dice rolls' weapon option.
The base size is excessive. The new models are excessively large, bulky and heavy looking. The OG quad mortar and heqvy mortqr look better a d would fit on what? A 100mm base?
I despise the lasgun shot. A gun crew should be feeding that gun as fast as possible. If any gunner is using a rifle they should either not have a gun to crew or the that the enemy are actively disputing their claim to that gun.

Auspex did a good comparison. I am pretty sure intercessors and down the bombast are better terminators and up siege gun
I like the FOB but I'll roll four 6's on attacks and whiff on the hits or wounds. 😂
@timcirulis5273 I think Fobs and Artillery teams are going to be better than our self-propelled artillery with all these nerfs.
Yeah, I thought the same thing on the points. I wonder if the Bombast Gun will always be better than the Heavy Mortar and Heavy Quad Launcher.

The base is huge, but I like the 12" screen from the center of the base
Your rebased artillery teams look great! I'm glad they could escape the jaws of Legends.

don't forget the Incendiary Bombardment from the siege detachment. getting rid of those cover saves seems like a good buff for these
I really wish the Thudd gun was a better profile. Maybe 4d3 lose the twin link s7 ap 0 2dmg
I only wish they could be taken in units of multiple, maybe twos like the Field Ordnance Battery.
Love you man, you give the best reviews.

Do scout sentinels still help indirect fire units?
Outside of the reroll 1s they give to everyone, no.
Missed Opportunity for the Quad Launcher to be 4D3 attacks honestly. Would have had it stand out a bit more.
Those green krieg are beautiful

Just wanted to add that the sergeants proxies also look awesome!

Tough enough*
I am a big fan of artillery.
Also, lotsa bits for lootin'!
Why is it BS 5+?
Because the guy who is meant to be laying the gun onto target is apparently having a fat old time blasting away with his lasgun!
The original resin ones have more WW1 character, I prefer them. But new is more available
And the feng shui sand bags .
so what i'm hearing is i need to buy 3 siege cannons

Its such a shame that its ability sucks the model is so cool.
