    I like that you can hear a bee in the background "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I WORKED ON THAT?!"

    Love how sturdy that extractor was. Usually when spinning out honey other extractors tend to start shaking due to the centrifugal force

      Any extractor will shake if you load it unevenly.

    Nice job. I would have liked to see the extractor work on a few Layen's frames.

    Love the video. I was hoping to see the layens frames going in but this was a great review anyway.

      It will be out in a couple more weeks - thanks for asking. Stay tuned, and have a great rest of your bee season!

    I wish makers of the smaller extractors would just make them with radial baskets so you dont have to flip.

    You said around the 12min. mark that you're going to freeze the extracted frames / comb. Do you have to do that with all 30 of them? How do find enough room in a freezer to do that? If you didn't freeze them, what would happen? Thanks.

    I also would like to see how the large Layens frame work. Dr Leo talks about jumbo Langstroth work as well. I am planning a double deep frame. Will the extract in this extractors? Keep up the great videos.

      Yes these frames work in the extractor Dr Leo sells, but I'm not a huge fan of this frame size and I will likely phase them out of my yard in favor of more Layens hives and frames.

    How many frames goes in one turn ? What's the size of the frames ? I also use no foundation frames 👍

    After you extracted the honey, did you put the boxes right back out for the bees to clean up the frames?

    • @enjoybeekeeping5612
      @enjoybeekeeping5612  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this way you never really lose any honey. Just let the bees take it back in for next time.

    Is that a BCS tiller in the background? Good choice. I bought mine in 1982. It's on its second engine and the rest is getting worn, but it's still the best tiller on the market.

    Is your screen down low in the bucket? If so what type is that? I have only ever seen the stainless doublescreen that goes over the top of a bucket. Thanks.

      Yes, I got mine from Dadant. I use a course screen so I get all the goodies of pollen, but no beetles or bee wings. I found this link that might help you see what I'm using

    yup it looked nice ,, my question is how did the LAYENs frames do? thank you for the tips

    • @enjoybeekeeping5612
      @enjoybeekeeping5612  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Layens frames held up perfect, and considering that no foundation was used is even more remarkable.

      Were your Layens foundationless frames wired or un-wired? Supposedly, only wired frames can be extracted.

    Can you use this extractor with layens frames?

    • @enjoybeekeeping5612
      @enjoybeekeeping5612  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      YES and as far as I'm aware it is the only one that does. Go see Dr Leo's site horizontal hive.com to get one.

      I've got some videos showing both the Layens and Langstroth frames being extracted if you wanna check it out - it might be on the other extraction video I posted if you didn't see it here.
