Even if they haven’t been physical, *leaving* is the most dangerous time for a victim in an abusive situation.
Domestic violence shelters can help with forming a safety plan so you can exit the relationship as safe as possible. Even if you decide to stay they can figure out how you can get away if things are escalating. Ex: make an agreement with your neighbor that if you band on the wall 3x call the cops. Or say you’re taking out the trash then go somewhere safe.
Please don’t be afraid to reach out. And don’t buy into the false belief that the Universe wants you to stay in a relationship that isn’t safe or healthy for you. You deserve to be happy and there are, people who will believe you and help you.
Pile 1. Accurate lmaooo every once in awhile I come into this power and realize he’s like this but I often find myself falling back into my old mindset and blame myself for everything that has happened. Deep down I know he’s not someone I want, I’ve never liked the energy he’s brought despite the fact that he can be sweet.
Pile 3 is my toxic, narcissistic ex, who has a bad temper and flies into rages and is quite selfish. He has some positive qualities, but his controlling, wounded ways are what I’m currently banishing from my existence. Pile one, yup and yup. I say it with love, but “see you next life”. I have work to do, this drains me too much. It’s time to move on to people, places and circumstances where I can be of actually use. But, I learned a lot about my subconscious patterns. Like my need to “save” people from themselves. Like how how I see the light in people to point of ignoring the shadows, how I have neglected and ignored my own shadows.
(Edit) so, after letting all of this sink in for a little while now, I’ve realized that my desire to save people is actually a power game I’ve been playing. It is validation seeking behavior, as if I can’t be loved or wanted without being explicitly needed. That isn’t a healthy basis for relationship, romantic or otherwise (obviously a parent child/infant relationship is a little different).
Also, concerning the spirituality of sexuality that you mentioned, I have been learning about that lately. It’s pretty fascinating, sexuality (especially fetishism) is almost always an attempt to make peace with self. To make peace with traumas, or a desperate attempt to escape conditioning that blocks authentic expression. If done right (meaning safely in a physical and spiritual sense), it can be extremely powerful and liberating. I am wondering if that is one of the reasons that sexuality is demonized in so many cultures. What would happen if everyone could heal their wounds and be free? Pile 1 I felt something off with him. He seems so nice and funny and everyone knows how sweet he is. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and I honestly don’t know him that well. But I think I may be too honest and valuable because I trust the universe and if he’s manipulative, he’s not it. I got out of a relationship with someone who was manipulative and I don’t want to do it again.

#3 This ended 9 years ago - he's a narcissist and I'm an empath. He's in an open marriage with three children [he said he would NEVER leave his wife and children], heavy military background - I've been attracted to unavailable men and at that time [before I met him] was trying on a military 'squared away' persona. Pile 1. Wow I do believe you nailed it. Yes he can be manipulative, especially sexually, but this is kind of a known thing in our circles. Having the status he does, does lend him the ability to use those skills. Me not letting him do that to me, is what led us to have conflict in the first place. It may take some time for him to grow up (spiritually at least) and I know he's my twin. I just have to remember to remain strong and keep my boundaries up unless im absolutely sure he has reached my level.
