Just put his resignation on a teleprompter and put him on TV. He'll read it without even realizing what he's reading.
Each election I think it can't get worse.
Maybe I should stop thinking that.
I've been of the opinion since a little after 2008 that I think it'll keep getting worse until somewhere in the middle of this century before we have the public will & working class organization necessary to do anything meaningfully different.
We may be in imperial decline, but when the start point is "global hegemony" there's a loooong way to fall.
I used to think that too... or so I thought...Err.. Did I?

@@dr.zoidberg8666well I'm a (misunderstood) misanthrope at heart but I do agree 100%
the smarter way was primaries but the democratic leadership in their great wisdom deemed all that stuff unnecessary
Just too damn democratic innit.
It's weird that the max limit is two terms of 4 years.. And all the presidents seem to think that they're SUPPOSED to be there for 4 years.. What about being there for 4 years.. Then another democrat takes the win and that dem can then be there for 8 years with some luck...
8 years of one president tends to lead to a flip in power.. I don't think that would be the case if more presidents did 4 year stints. You don't get as bored with a president in 4 years.. The president doesn't have 8 years to rack up horrible mistakes that will then be used against the sitting party's next candidate.
Frankly so did the GOP. they just put on a freak show where all of the candidates rooted for Trump except Christie playing the attack dog for special effects. Just like with Biden Trump was coronated before the primaries even started.
Meaning we the people really don't have much of a say so. We get to vote for the two they shove in our faces and we are stupid enough to fight over which one is the "lesser evil".
It's like everyone in the party just assumed if it wasn't gonna be okay someone else would handle it... and now we're here.
It's basically telling my grandparents they shouldn't drive anymore but it's the president 🤦🏽♀️
My gramma wouldn't stop driving till I moved in with her and drove everywhere for her. I would still catch her trying to take drives before I woke up. All AFTER an accident that left half her body bruised. You're right ... and we're boned.
I don’t think Kamala would’ve agreed to be VP if she thought he was gonna run again in 2024. Everyone in 2020 thought he’d be a one term President. Including Biden himself at the time.
I feel for the Americans. Here in France, we find ourselves in a tough situation as well. Interestingly, at the root of both problems is a president who refuses to give an inch and are clinging desperately to power, even though they're the issue. I also see a denial of democracy in both cases.
Yeah, the situation in France has seemed eerily similar in many ways. Just a standard function of late-stage liberal capitalism, I guess.
both my parents had dementia and it took them several minutes to recognize who I was and who they were talking to in general. They could remember events from the distant past but not what happened a minute ago. Otherwise they were energetic, sometimes highly energetic, even into their 90s. Biden generally does not display those traits. Instead, he is scarier: he seems unusually slow, he has a death stare, his speech is slurred and confused, he has trouble collecting his thoughts in a coherent manner, he seems stubborn and out of touch and he tends to reminisce a little too much about the past. All traits of a man who is gradually yet steadily shutting down. I don't know if he can make it through another year much less 4 years. Eventually, the 25th Amendment will have to be considered.
If BOTH you’re parents had dementia you’ll be getting symptoms in your late 50’s 🤣🤣⏰⏰
As someone who cares for my FIL with it, I agree that I don't think its Dementia either, he's just very old and is becoming too frail for it all. I do very much wish he would have passed it on to Harris but it is what it is and there is no way out at this point without giving Trump the presidency.
@@Tavera12 have hope, the voters just might be able to figure out good v. evil by September when the voting starts. Maybe - just maybe - Biden has just enough left in him to summon his inner 1948 Harry Truman. The fight isn't over until the count reaches 10.
Please, not another Presidential Debase. 25th Amendment.
If you really think they wouldn't have replaced him already if that were necessary you might as well be arguing there's no difference between 45 and 46
@@futurestoryteller Of course they wouldn't do that, even if it may be justified. The only reason they haven't done that is the same reason the vast majority of them are too afraid to publicly said that he should step down, even though they feel that way privately. It's because the optics would be terrible.
Also, it's downright impossible for them all to get on the same page for something much less monumentally dramatic, like simply saying publicly they think he should step down, because they're always preoccupied with public perception, or how their actions could be used against them by republicans.
Another factor is that clearly they feel that Biden can be controlled and steered. (I just can't believe they thought that all of this was going to fly as he continued to degenerate, and the election got closer and closer.)
It truly baffles me why Kamala hasn’t invoked the 25th yet. Her past self that slept her way to the top of SF politics would be so ashamed with her present self’s lack of naked ambition.
@@JohnDoe-my5ip I think that would be bad for her campaign. It would look like she was getting him out of the way so she can run. Especially since there are so many Blue MAGA who are still pushing for Joe

Bibi has basically been trying to wait Biden out for months now because as ineffective as Biden is at stopping genocide, Trump will gladly greenlight it
Biden, Pelosi, Shumer, Durbin... CLEAN HOUSE, SENATE, W.H.!!! Bring in a new generation. What's the risk of the new generation replacing the old and possibly losing when we know that there's a probability that the old generation is going to lose anyway...?
The problem is that the 'old generation' does not want to go away 😉 They're getting so much bribes from the lobbyists, and they want to stay in power _till the end of their lives_
The only thing that makes sense is that they instinctually understand that younger people have had enough of capitalism and are willing to throw our country into a fascist state rather than hand the keys to socialists like us and risk destroying capitalism.
Problem is that kind of thinking... that no other generations exist beside you.
Preserving the status quo and progressives being elected, and most important them no longer being able to enrich themselves without consequences, and as it has been previously started their ego won't let them. Whoever wins, I expect to see another feinstein scenario.
And around and around and around we go Just like with Ginsberg.
It's so frustrating. We're being held hostage by this geriatric fool and his crackhead son.
Democrats are really good at losing really easy races, almost seems intentional at this point 💀
well, if it isn't drama to make news and keep people angry, american politics doesn't have much else.
This is nothing like Ginsburg. Once Joe drops out, the election is effectively over. Trump wins in an historic landslide.
Someone needs to tell--not ask--Biden to drop from the race. There needs to be some hard brinksmanship to tell Biden that it's his turn to take one for the team. And that if he digs his heels in that people are abandoning him.
I hate to say it, but they might have to subtly hint that if he 'doesn't go quietly' then they'll invoke the 25th. Of course the ducks have to be in a row if he calls that bluff. No doubt Jill's digging in her heels, too, and I'm sure she's formidable.
I really don't understand Sam's take on the George Clooney thing. Why was Clooney's op-ed piece a bad idea? He literally JUST hosted the biggest fundraising campaign for a Dem candidate. He spoke with Biden personally, and can attest to the fact that the debate was not a one-time thing.
I think Sam literally had no idea how connected Clooney is politically. Was Michael Moore saying that Biden should step aside a bad idea? What about Jon Stewart? Should no one speak out on this? Trying to determine what the ambiguous line is between "good" speaking out and "bad" speaking out.
I agree with Sam. There is nothing strategic about bashing Biden the way Clooney did. Clooney went rogue. Just because he fundraised doesn’t mean he is doing the bidding of the Dems. In fact it’s possible quite the opposite he feels entitled to say what he honestly believes because he is helping provide for the Dems.
@@majorlazor5058maybe it wasn't a strategic decision but an emotional one. It's the Party's job to win an election not their donators and supporters
@@majorlazor5058 I also agree with sam. He's a guy who supports the democratic party on his own terms I think, much like any big donor. I don't think he's being aimed like a sniper rifle or anything like that. He views himself more as an important piece of the party than someone to be used as a pawn, he feels his opinions shift other people's stances.
If anything, the fundraiser he did proved his loyalty to the party at large and only really adds credibility to his request for Biden to step down.
He's behaving like a guy who wants the democratic party to win, and he doesn't have all that much faith in Biden. At the end of the day, Clooney is a human just like everyone else. Part of the celebrity idolization that is damaging is switching from worshiping to turning them into villains.. They're just two different pedestals...
Humans are easier to understand if we try to understand them by their human instincts rather than "he has money! Therefore he doesn't work like humans at all anymore!"
Celebs are just people, everyone. Not gods, not demons.. Just people. Doing their thing.. Watching movies from a comfier couch than the rest of us. Overly confient and narcissistic? Sure, just like your boss or your boss' boss or the guy who is rumored to have a really big penis or whatever. Just humans.. No magical abilities.
He definitely knows I don't think you understand what he's saying.
Sam's stance is that there is no option
Everyone wants Biden to drop out but if you ask 5 people who should replace him you get 5 different answers
There is nothing strategically advantageous pretending Biden s age is greater threat than Trump's Project 2025
And the problem is this… think about the fact that with dementia plus Parkinson’s, he will not be reachable to heed advice. He will stay stubborn until the end. The end being some type of locked in syndrome where he will be even able to respond or even speak. He needs serious treatment and it is downright cruel to not help Biden and make him comfortable in the twilight of his life.
I agree. I think they started with the idea of getting the polling and then making Joe see the light and make the decision himself to step aside. Then it turned into getting more polling and now it's an argument of who can beat Trump, when the original inclination was to replace a candidate who is showing cognitive decline.
You're right. Too many think that people with dementia issues are easily controlled and made to do things they don't want to do. That is so not the case, ask some caregiver's out there how easy it is. Plus Biden has a lifetime of politics set in his brain. He's seemingly delusional about how great he is, of course I think that was the same before his current dementia issues. My aunt became so deluded at one point (not the entire course of her disease though) that she thought she was on the cover of a writing magazine as a published author (I think probably being a published author was her biggest dream). And of course, no one could force her to do anything, not before nor after she got dementia/Alzheimer's. She, even deep into her disease, wouldn't even try to drive a car as she recognized that she was unable anymore. Biden is trying to lead a country. How deluded can he become and what damage can he do? I don't know how much control he actually exerts over things behind the scenes. We must be the laughing stock of the world's leaders allowing someone with dementia to run this country and speak for us.
I used to work with the elderly he needs to go his mind isn’t that sharp anymore we need a better candidate and Trump has dementia I know because I used to work with dementia people he has it. We are screwed either way.

This is a braindead argument.
Trump won't drop out because Republicans want him, warts and all. Whether Democrats think Trump is unfit is totally irrelevant.
Democrats don't get to choose who they run against, they get to choose who they run. And their base holds candidates to a higher standard than MAGA.

Didn’t he say that he became worried when he saw Joe in person at the fundraiser?
Clooney probably spoke out for the same reason that many of us commenters are speaking out, except for that he saw it in person. I have seen Pod Save America talk about the fundraiser that George referred to, and they had the same takeaway. I would imagine that an op-ed is basically Clooney's version of a TH-cam comment.

It's not gonna happen. Biden won the delegates and it's clear that he's not going to step aside (even though I think he should). At this point, his campaign needs to immediately counter with a focused and sustained "Team Biden" blitz that highlights VP Harris and cabinet members talking about what the administration has accomplished and what it still hopes to achieve.

Honestly, even if Biden is on life support, voting for him to stop Trump is still the right move. Time is almost up to switch nominees for president/vp.
Yes, but there are a lot of voters who don't agree. Why not try to get their votes rather than pretending they don't matter/exist?

I don't think Biden should drop out.
Absolutely not. I might make the same claim against you. If Democrats are fighting each other, then we aren't fighting Trump. So why are you fighting with your fellow Democrats? I expect Trump enjoys Dems fighting each other instead of him. Democratic infighting doesn't help anything, and frankly, it is too late to remove Biden. Nothing anyone on the Dump Biden bandwagon has said has convinced me that they can win with another candidate. All they have done is convince me that they don't like Biden.
Just the opposite. I believe if Biden can not win, then no Democrat can. I do not think it is feasible to replace Biden so late in the process and still win. The last time that a US President stepped aside was 1968, when Lyndon Johnson stepped aside and Hubert Humphry ran as the Democratic nominee. Democrats lost. Richard Nixon was elected President.
I will not play this game. If Democrats manage to push Biden out of office, then I will assume we are going to lose, and I will write Biden's name in.

Kamala should ride the saying "It's not how you got the position, but what you do while at it"
Doing your part not to enable primary rigging would have been a good start for Majority Report.
Where was MR during the primary? Told us to accept that Biden would be the nominee rather than pressure the Party.
You're nuts if you think MR has the pull to influence what the DNC does. The entire NYT editorial board, Morning Joe, and George Clooney can't make them budge, but this is Sam Sedar's fight? They also hid how much Biden's health has deteriorated. All we had to go on was the State of the Union speech. If he'd performed half as well during the debate we wouldn't be having this conversation.
There was literally no one running who could win the primary. Like they didn't even have people on the ballots in all the states. You cannot blame MR for pointing out that reality. The Florida primary was literally cancelled because only Biden was an option to vote.
Maybe instead of blaming MR for something they didn't do, take some responsibility for not convincing your favored candidate to run in the primary. MR does not have any more power in that regard than you do realistically.
How do you guys know that people close to Biden like Barack Obama haven't suggested to him that he shouldn't seek re-election?

You need to take the polls numbers of candidates not named Biden or Harris with a grain of salt. By and large, the general public has not seen those others perform. For example, (hypothetically) if Newsom were to debate Trump he would destroy him. Now take that poll again. So if they are thinking about other candidates then they need to be pushed forward into the public eye so that they can be judged by the public…then take those polls again, some may surpass Biden or Harris.
