- Ferrari’s official factory test track celebrates its 50th birthday this year. In that half-century, it’s welcomed F1 champions, racing car royalty and been the boot camp for the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and beyond. But in all those years, there’s never been an electric lap record at Fiorano. Not until TopGear decided to set one...
Since there’s no electric Ferrari road cars (yet) TopGear magazine’s Ollie Kew enlisted the help of Oxfordshire’s Little Car Company, which hand-builds scaled-down replicas of iconic classic for wealthy children - and big kids. Its fastest creation yet is this 75% model of a 250 Testa Rossa, complete with Brembo brakes, Borrani wheels, Eibach suspension and a mighty 16bhp. Plenty, when there’s no seatbelt.
It’s probably the ultimate toy car - and the most expensive, at £100,000 - but is it capable of setting a lap time on Ferrari’s hallowed tarmac that Enzo himself would be proud of?

If you are buying a house or apartment next to Ferrari's test track and you complain, then you are not right in the head !! Also maybe dont live there anyway!! Ferrari been there for years and you come in with you new age needs and wants, just get outta here with that !!

Here in Holland, people go and live close to an elementary school and then complain about the kids making noise during their break... that _is_ what kids do, making noise... Just like the cars, that's what they do.
If the people living there had a choice to live at a legendary location... maybe not complain as much, as they could easily sell their place for much more money to any Ferrari fan out there.

@Oliver Blume CEO - No, he stated in the video that the flats were built adjacent to the track. The track was there BEFORE the flats. We have the same issues with developers building apartment blocks beside live music venues and bars, then the new owners trying to shut down long-established venues.
Absolutely blows my mind that people would move next to the Ferrari test track and then complain about the noise. Imagine hearing Michael Schumacher doing hot laps in a Ferrari V10 F1 car in your backyard and complaining!
The same goes for the whiners that buy a home next to an airport.

imagine living in a peaceful neighborhood then a race car industry that you'll never be able to buy pops up there and you never hear the birds anymore 😂
It happens all too often in the states. People build racetracks out in rural areas because of the noise. Then urban areas start expanding out and now people buy a house next to a racetrack and complain about the noise. So then ordnances are put into place restricting the hours the track can operate. Then eventually the track goes under because of it.
The only thing is the race car industry was there before a lot of people started moving closer probably because that industry also gives birth to a lot of smaller supporting businesses in the area.@@eliasbram3710

It’s people who moved into the area, knowing the race track is there, who are complaining.

Imagine this in full scale with a Lucid Motor. It would probably be scarier and sketchier than a factory five AC cobra.
youd think something like this would be more like a aptera or a volkswagen xl1, hypermiling handling fun so at least it excelent in some way besides just being silly for the sake of it

It is fast in something that small and low to the ground.
Ferrari actually gives that company that makes the tiny reproduction cars exact drawings of chassis, design specifics, decals, real Ferrari leather and authentic decals! That’s pretty cool.
If it's possible to qualify this as a quadricycle it would be perfect for down town. It would be the solution for arriving in style in a city centre where cars aren't allowed anymore. If they make a cheaper version, perhaps based on an MGB, it would be a cool alternative to a moped.
Sounds like you just had a great idea for a start up. Maybe look into a Kickstarter and get busy doing it. I'd buy one!

Hilarious! You actually beat my first lap time at Fiorano! We were out at 7am on a cold morning. There were no tire warmers for Challenge cars. And yes, you guessed it, I slid off in the hairpin at the end of the first straight (it is a longer straight than the camera shows, so a lot of speed as you enter the hairpin, and that turn is fairly tight). So, to my great humiliation, I personified the "you can't win the race in the first lap, but you can sure lose it" saying. And there is no driving out of that kitty litter once you go off the hairpin. So, I swallowed my pride, got a tow, and got back out there. In a race that cold morning, you would have had me as I passed you at around 100mph before failing to brake soon enough on cold tires. Then you would have passed me, with a gentle wave and a smile, crushing my lap time in your 16hp stunningly beautiful replica. Tutte le Ferrari in Pista!

Nah the cheapest Ferrari made outside of Italy that’s Ferrari-certified were the Hot Wheels Ferrari castings, but Mattel doesn’t make them anymore since Ferrari pulled the licensing rights.

Sort of speaks to the idea that the hyper car power arms race really is way too far enough. Give me 300hp and a good light chasis on a B road.

While I love the craftsmanship, I hate that there is a market for these.
Now think about a race series for these, speed capped to 120kph, but small tracks only, Fiorano would be a long track, good wide go-kart tracks ideal.
Or, size up just a little, to be a two-seat city car with 80kph limit and banned from freeways, ideal for people who shouldn't be allowed on Scooters for thier own safety, local pizza delivery, or commuting when work is 10 to 20 minutes drive from home.
So very much potential for a new micro-car boom, but needs to be in the US$5 to $15K range, styled like baby Corba's, Mustangs, S800, Miata, 70's Elite or Europa, even a baby Jensen or EV Kei-car.
That looks like about $10,000 worth of fun. Not 100,000 pounds.
I’ve had the great pleasure of driving the Testarossa J at Bicester, the engineering and craftsmanship is quite magnificent. It really is needs to be seen as a real Ferrari and not a “toy”.
It's definitely ridiculous, but if they decided to mass produce tens of thousands of these on a line and skipped the expensive aesthetics I'm sure the price would go way down. That's not what Ferrari does though, it wouldn't be a Ferrari anymore. Although, it might be interesting if Ferrari mass produced or licensed a bare-bones kit for others to use as a starting point in their own cars.
A $10K version, with a generic 'inspired by the racers of the 50's and 60's' style body, built like an EV Kei-Car, would be fantastic around town runabout.

This is actually the only practical EV there is. There are so many issues with EV’s to get into, but the simple fact that the power grid cannot support the EV fleets the zealots envision is top of the list.

I just found my newest dream car.
Tack it on to the list, alongside: Audi R8, GTR r35, Lotus Exige, etc etc.... all that cool stuff I can't afford. Oh well, I'm happy enough having had my RX-8 with silver base paint and carbon fiber rear doors, hood, wheels, and spoiler.. custom built echo pipe exhaust that sounded absolutely glorious all the way from the start, up to 9k rpms. Gah.. she's a beauty. There she sits in my yard, covered in a blanket, with 0 compression and a faulty master & slave cylinder.. still has a supercharger, but uh... only around 150 horsepower.
That's why I now drive a Genesis Coupe GT with only body modifications to make it more gorgeous - I left the performance alone. 3.8 liter v6 with gdi tech that gives it around the same horsepower as my rx8, but with an 8 speed double clutch transmission. Blacked out, matte rims and rear/side rear window louvers/body kit, gloss black base coat and beautiful orange leather seats. Yeah.. she's pretty.. and unless you have the 5.0 in your mustang with some work done to it, you're gonna get roasted by her, too.

Getting consistent uploads of actual high budget car content from top gear and then still getting my clarkson, hammond and may fix from drivetribe and the grand tour. Very easy to miss the old days, but it's always a good thing to have more choice of what to watch! Plus theres 20+ seasons of the good old stuff on iplayer! What a time to be a fan !

A race series of these on small tracks, with all aero banned and tyres narrow enough so the cars slide and four-wheel drift on throttle, would not need artificial sound.
Get the battery swap done in the times it take to jack the car and swap the knock-on wheels off for fresh rubber, and you'd get some good racing.
