When our daughters were young we used to love to have pasta nights on the weekend. We would work together and make a big batch of homemade pasta which we would enjoy that evening but still have loads left over. When our girls got a bit older, (10 years and up) we would have a friendly competition and each make a sauce. It was a lovely way to spend the day, we would play music and have a kitchen dance party, or watch a favourite movie while the sauces cooked. Very inexpensive and lovely family activity. We would sometimes play an ongoing board game. I have missed your vlogs, seeing your posting has made my day!! Cheers!! I also love knitting content!

I am a complete beginner despite knitting a cardigan when I was young with my grandma but a scarf is probably as much as I can manage now! Rihannon your Vlogs are my favorite to watch. When my sister and I still lived with our parents we used to watch your vlogs on the living room TV and even though my grandmother doesn't understand a word of English she paid so much attention and enjoyed every bit of the vid. 💖

Pasta makers- anyone in the comments actually use them regularly? I thought they were one of those things people use once and not again but fresh pasta is amazing so would love to hear if worth the purchase?
We've had a pasta maker in my house for my entire life, and use it probably once a year...but homemade pasta is just so much better than the dried pasta at the store, and it is quite difficult to roll it out flat enough with just a rolling pin, so it certainly makes it worth it!

Some pasta making advice, use white wine instead of water or oil(you can use super cheap white wine even boxed wine, I generally keep some frozen for sauces) because this creates a more tender lighter noodle. Also, when you run the dough through to actually create the noodles there should be enough flour that it is visible and dusty looking! That will also help the noodles not clump up once cooked. My pasta dough recipe is 1 cup of 00 flour, 1 egg, half an egg shell of white wine(or a tablespoon if that freaks you out 😂) and 1 tsp of salt. I would probably triple this recipe for two people. I generally let my dough rest for an hour before rolling it out into pasta.
Also if you like to be mindful of sodium or know you are putting this in a very salty sauce you could half the sodium to no noticeable consequences to the pasta.
Do you think the wine would work the same for gluten free pasta? It is always so hard and clumped when I try to make it.
@@micivalantincic8227 Gluten free pasta will always be on the stickier side so just be sure to flour it liberally when trying to handle it. Do you let the pasta dough rest before rolling it and rubbing it through the press? But the wine should work!
