    I really like the idea of starving the hive of resources before attacking. Big brain move!

    • @monza8844
      @monza8844 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, a big brain move is to ignore starvation, and to boost your science as quickly as possible. Once you've done that you can take any hive down, even the high level ones in less than 1 or 2 min (depending on their level) without ever starving them. Starving hives is way too time consuming, and costs way too much resources and energy.

    I hope one day they let us have a massve fleet in reserve that only deploys all its forces when engaging the hive. Its just another option, maybe more expensive but could be really fun to do

    Hi, what key do you use to place troops?

  • @jagheterjensjuh

    First hive I drained from ship was a happy coincident. The planet I was standing on orbited so close to hive that my ships pulled aggro and their fleet flew closer to the planet. My missile batteries teared them all out of the sky, aka Death star tactics.

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's by far the most efficient way to do it! I had that happen once of twice as well - Although it was less fun when I left my planet and ended up with 200 ships firing at me almost instantly :P

      I'm considering making a new playthrough on a lower difficulty setting to really focus on making updated blueprints for general use.

    How do you control which planet the hive ships will attack?
    Is it always the planet with the most energy usage? Or is it the closest one once they hit max threat?

    • @TheDutchActuary
      @TheDutchActuary  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely not based on proximity - I've seen fleets simply try to pass by my other planets, in some cases even while being shot at.
      I've never seem them attack anything other than the planet that had my main factory on it.

    Can a close planet launch rockets at the hive? That would seem to be a decent way if the rockets are strong enough.

    Just finished a max size sphere around a 2.51x luminosity O class star that produces over a terawatt of energy. It took 25 million solar sails and 10 days to fill out.
    Was it worth it? Probably not.

    • @hellboy19991
      @hellboy19991 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      you would never be able to harvest a maxed out sphere. but it's not about whether you should, it's about whether you could.

      @TheDutchActuary  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Probably not. But I still bet you're smiling every time you look at that monstrosity of a sphere :D

      *_"Just finished a max size sphere around a 2.51x luminosity O class star that produces over a terawatt of energy. It took 25 million solar sails and 10 days to fill out."_*
      Bad move, sorry, but it is. Not only will all those sails affect your frame rates in a negative way, it will also increase the size of your save file substantially, and on top of that, what are you going to with 1TW? By the time you do need it, you're looking at frames rates under 10/fps.
      Don't make the mistake to think that this game is all about the highest amount of energy, it's not, only people with an inferiority complex, and who want to have bragging rights focus on that, and the irony is that it's not even difficult to achieve, it's just a matter of pasting planet and sphere blueprints over and over again, boring and not challenging at all.

    If you want a fun challenge - with the Dark Fog it's now possible to get Mission Complete in DSP without leaving your home planet or building a single solar sail / dyson sphere cell. Might be worth a shot!

      oh I actually kinda went in that direction. I let the dark fog grow on my planet and kept it in a constant battle that drew more and rarer resources from the battle field. eventually I defeated it because the constant battle and work on the whole planet, made the game crash.

      Nonsense. I put over 3,000 hrs into that game, and it never crashed for me, it's rock solid.
      Your crash is the result of either a crappy computer, driver issues, the use of mods or your incompetence.

    Great video I see some other streamers trying to live off of farming the dark fog maybe you can make a video about that and see if you can come up with some cool plans for filtering all the stuff they drop

    • @katemc516
      @katemc516 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's definitely viable to build a mall from farmed resources (but not so reliable for researches) they drop some really end game stuff at higher levels, however it takes forever to level up a planetary base to past lvl24 on the default settings, but I noticed a setting called "combat XP" which can be cranked up to 1000%, wondering if it would do any harm...😉

    I have one save game, can send it if you would like, I have finished 7/640 spheres on that save, but it is from before the box logistics boxes were even added in. It is difficult to tell because the laptop I play on cannot play DSP full speed, but I think that my setup is capable of producing a fully complete sphere in about 30 minutes, every hour and a half or so.

    8:50 I will never understand why people are still using solar panels at that point in time, not to mention that they're bad for performance, because for each one of them the game has to calculate their rotation angle, and electricity is in general is already a demanding part of the game, as the performance stats page will confirm.

      Wrong, you can destroy it for good, you just have to make to leave one enemy vessel alive. As a result you will still see the hive tag in the top left of your screen, but it will show 0.0%, and will do so forever, unless you destroy that last vessel. You will however not see the hive, just the name tag, and no new hives will created in that solar system.
