- Our reporter Jane Chandler has been speaking with survivors of the Exeter Blitz. It took place some 75 years ago and a group of people in their mid-eighties and nineties have taken part in a film to share their memories. The Blitz was the single most destructive event to hit the city. More than 250 people died. Among those who witnessed what happened at Joy Lovell who was just ten at the time. James Board who was 14 , Dorothy Simmonds who was ten and Ivor Doble who’s now 92.
Speaking in order are
Joy Lovell
James Board
Dorothy Simmonds
Ivor Doble
Peter Luxton
Great to see Ivor Doble featured in the video. My Grandfather worked for him for 40 years as a clock maker/repair. A true gentleman and also a former chairman of Exeter City FC. RIP Ivor.
My heart is in Exeter. A City with a golden hearts... Hats off to you in Exeter.
Thankyou for sharing everyone.
interesting video, we must make sure there are no more world wars, and indeed work on reducing wars as a whole.
