Interesting. I've seen the Brightline train many times as I drive on the 528 Beachline Highway. In that stretch, it seems to be going about 80 mph based on how fast it goes by when we're going the same direction. I guess the speed varies depending where the train is.
After watching your video the second time, I realized how truthful and complete, and unbiased, your review is. Having used Brightline from WPB to Orlando and back, I am an experienced rider.
I gotta on a Eurostar from Paris to Brussels earlier this year. It went 189MPH. Awaiting for our trains to catch up to that. Maybe when I’m in my 60s …. And my city (NY) is struggling dearly to expand our subway system. The MTA is corrupt and struggles with funds management.
We would need a complete overhaul of our infrastructure to accomplish truly high speed rail in the US. I’m good with service that covers the too far to drive, but too close to fly need.

The problem is, it doesn’t go to Orlando…..it goes to the Orlando airport…..which isn’t in Orlando proper……you’ll need an Uber or some other form of transportation to get to downtown or anywhere else really.
Yes, their parking garages are very tight to negotiate. Yes, the restrooms on the train are near spotless. Brightline seems to have it together. They just need to remain on schedule without hitting people or cars, all of which are reported to be the fault of people where they should not have been. Just keep going and allow the authorities to determine who is at fault.
It's a train station, why do they run it like an airport for no reason? You can have a lounge at a train station, but you're supposed to get to the train quickly with no obsticle, maybe a ticket gate at most.
Well it’s not the fastest in modern day that being the Acela of Amtrak at 150mph and not in all of American rail history that being the UAC turbo train at 172mph and the NYC “black beetle” at 183mph.
They want FL to remain a tourist destination but they need train service in the city(s). Train in the city of Miami, Orlando,Tampa & cities along the coast-tf
China have launched their hydrogen powered high speed train, it can go 125mph, brightline needs to consider replacing that trainset with the new hydrogen fast trainset in the long future.
My guess is that the geography has a lot to do with that. The area is mostly North & South with limited land available for rail development. Miami isn’t the only major city lacking in public rail access.
Still not even close to an actual high speed train. 125 mph on new tracks for 17 miles out of a 240 mile route is not high speed rail or even in the same ballpark!
@@TohaBgood2 maybe true, but it’s better than just about anything else we have currently in the US, with the Acela being the only exception. 🤷🏾♂️ But, I do appreciate you watching! ✊🏾
@@travelwithtonyg Nope. Not even close. First of all, both the Acela and the Northeast Regional run at 125+ mph for more than 50% of their routes. They're both considered HSR lines by international standards. Brightline doesn't even come remotely close to that. About 50% of the Brightline route is at 80 mph, about 20% is at 110 mph (with interruptions), and less than 8% is at 125 mph, but for some reason single-tracked. Amtrak has several routes that stay above 110 mph for more than 40% of their routes - the Wolverine, the Lincoln Service, and the several routes that run on the NEC. And all the Western US routes use the exact same Siemens trains as Brightline. What they are good at is marketing. That's it. You just bought their sales pitch.
@@TohaBgood2Acela is not high speed. It covers 450 miles between DC and Boston in 6-1/2 to 7 hours when it’s on time whereas high speed trains around the world would cover the same distance in 3hours or less. ( Sam Jennings, retired Acela/Amtrak Conductor).👊🏾👴🏾✌🏾
@@samtrak1204 Nope. We have an actual international HSR standard that tells us what is and what isn't HSR. Both the Acela and the Northeast Regional are HSR because they stay above 125 mph for more than 50% of their route. And this is about average for HSR lines all over the world. Only four countries in Europe have HSR lines that are faster than the Acela, and a majority of Japanese Shinkansen lines are about the same or slower than the Acela. If you don't want to count 125 mph lines as HSR then only 8 countries around the world have HSR according to you. That's just nonsense.
14:34 Why should they provide free alcohol for premium passengers? The difference in price from Smart Class isn't all that much (and it is not all that expensive). This is NOT the same as a business class lounge in airports. Plus, you get free drinks during the trip. Give me a break.
@@mikeymutual5489 from what I’ve heard from another viewer, they used to provide free alcohol in the Premium lounge. If they offer it on the train, then why not in the lounge? The slowest train in existence only in america can this be touted as “ High speed”. The train is def more style than substance. Bullet trains “high speed” trains def go more than 125 and longer than a few hundred miles. Absolutely inefficient and still slower than driving the damn turnpike..😅 absolutely hysterical. What a joke! Brightline is like a turtle compared to European trains. When I’m in Italia I take Frecciarosa whiz does ~300kmh of about 200mph. Brightline barely does half that 😂😂😂
I have to laugh, the Brightline trains speed thru downtown Stuart at about 15 MPH and sled thru Jensen Beach even slower. Blood line is a mess, biggest boondoggle in the state. Should have used the Amtrak tracks west of the populate areas instead of blaring horns and dragging cars down the tracks. It is a joke See how empty the station is? The trains are the same way.
The train and stations were quite full in both Orlando and Miami when we rode it. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than anything else we have in the US right now.
Brightline keeps those windows covered so nobody on the outside can see how empty the cars are. Swear to God i have no idea how they think theres enough people needing this many trains to carry people back and forth between Orlando and Miami. A friend of mine has been on the train several times now and he says the trains are nowhere near filled. Im thinking this train idea of someones is going to end up just like train travel did back in the late sixties when Fla East Coast railroad stopped passenger service cause they were losing way to much money. Thats just my opinion.
Look at it like a pilot program for the entire country. Adoption takes time, especially when people are so used to driving. I think the too close to fly - too far to drive rail model has potential. Thanks for your input! ✊🏾

I would say that when you take the train before 6:00 am, the food is not as good as you show on the prime lounge. We only had stale croissants and bagels. Alcoholic drinks do not start until 11:00 am until 7:00 pm.
@@mariareyes-ku6194 Ohh wow. Thanks for sharing.
I would just grab a sub from Publix along with snacks & bring it onboard the train.
Yeah that’s a good idea!
I rode on a bullet train like this one in Hong Kong China way back in the 1980's.
I hope to review the bullet train in Japan in 2025!
BRIGHTLINE RESPONDS
"Hi there! We understand your concern and appreciate your feedback. Going forward, all our train wraps are designed to ensure a clear view by not covering more than a certain percentage of the windows. Some of our current wraps will remain in place for now, which may result in limited visibility. Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance your travel experience. 💛"
I’m glad they’re listening to passengers like you!
@@travelwithtonyg It wasn’t exactly what I wanted to hear because I want ALL wraps to be removed from windows but it’ll do for now.✌️🤣
The problem is, it doesn’t go to Orlando…..it goes to the Orlando airport…..which isn’t in Orlando proper……you’ll need an Uber or some other form of transportation to get to downtown or anywhere else really.
Yeah I agree. The airport makes sense as a stop but it could’ve continued into downtown for sure.
The tile says “fastest train in the USA?” But that would be the Acela.
@@elicarlson7682 I asked a question not a statement. So the answer to my question is no. 🤷🏾♂️

Haha…I think you might be onto something! 💯✊🏾😆
It's a train station, why do they run it like an airport for no reason?
You can have a lounge at a train station, but you're supposed to get to the train quickly with no obsticle, maybe a ticket gate at most.
I get it, but it was a nice experience nonetheless 🤷🏾♂️
Well it’s not the fastest in modern day that being the Acela of Amtrak at 150mph and not in all of American rail history that being the UAC turbo train at 172mph and the NYC “black beetle” at 183mph.
But good video
@@maryburton3315with, apparently, misleading information.
@@mrxman581 what’s misleading about it?
They want FL to remain a tourist destination but they need train service in the city(s). Train in the city of Miami, Orlando,Tampa & cities along the coast-tf
I hear they’re planning to connect Orlando, Tampa and Miami along three different routes

Private industry has accomplished in about a decade what amtrak wouldnt even consider.
@@type4647 very true!
It's not the fastest train in the US though........Amtrak's Acela is. Goes 150mph. Brightline is a higher-speed train service. Not high speed rail.
@@SeanCakaBroncoFan623 yes I mentioned this in the video. But thanks for your input, and I appreciate you watching it.
China have launched their hydrogen powered high speed train, it can go 125mph, brightline needs to consider replacing that trainset with the new hydrogen fast trainset in the long future.
Miami lacks decent public transit and that's a damn shame for a world-class city of its size.
My guess is that the geography has a lot to do with that. The area is mostly North & South with limited land available for rail development. Miami isn’t the only major city lacking in public rail access.
@@travelwithtonygPolitics.
You should've gone to Disney! That's the whole point of going to Orlando.
We were just there the month prior. 😉
This is NOT the fastest trains in the USA. Most of the trip is at speeds under 79 mph.
I never said it was the fastest. Did you watch the video?
@@TohaBgood2 thanks for providing such detailed insight. Again, thanks for watching!
After all, you only have access for an hour prior to departure anyway. The most someone might have is 1-2 glasses of wine or beer with their food. 🤷🏾♂️ Thanks for watching! ✊🏾
@@travelwithtonyg Or someone who sits there at the taps could have many more drinks than that and then go on the train sloppy drunk. I'd rather keep the premium fares competitive than for the company to waste money on unlimited booze. Thanks for the video.
@@mikeymutual5489I rode Brightline last December on premium from Orlando to WPB. Several guys drinking heavy in lounge and continuing on train. They were sh**faced by the time we got to WPB. Having airport security to scan luggage and passengers is simply unnecessary and annoying. One reason that many people find flying anxiety creation. They also don’t like to be scanned or X-rayed given high rates of cancer.
I wouldn’t feel safe without security. I guess you could always fly private or semi-private out of an FBO if it bothers you that much. 🤷🏾♂️

@@stevenaudino4249 no one is trying to compare it with European trains. It’s a great step in the right direction for trains in the US.
