Welcome to Sam Shutt Farming, daily life on the Hill farm
This is Sam and Oliver plus 4 children farming beef sucklers and sheep in the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border area.
We are first-generation farmers, and we've had no help at all to get to where we are now. We are here to show you our life and what we do. I am also here to show new entrance that it is possible to start from scratch. Being strong-willed, determined, and a lot of hard work, you can do it.
We are both from farming backgrounds. I grew up on a family dairy farm. Milking from a very young age.Working for my uncle when i left school. I've learnt everything from him and grown ever since. I met Oliver when I was 16 he was 15. We started with a few sheep when we met and have built up over the 16 years to where we are now. We took on a 500-acre hill farm in 2019, currently 5 years into the tenancy.
Also, here to show people women can be useful in the agricultural world.😉😁

Absolutely top-quality beef 😍 shame. I can't show from birth to plate as we don't keep untill finishing, but I might slaughter one pack it myself and fry it in one vid 😍 show people how good quality high welfare beef gets from field to fork!

Olivers more than a handy man. We would all be lost without his 60 year old heads' knowledge, wisdom, and talents. 😍🤣 I think number 5 will fit in perfectly 👌 kids are a massive help and they enjoy helping naturaly, I have to have a planned section 😔 the risks of natural they wouldn't let me have one. Ages off yet ! 🤣

the only problem i see with pulling a calve off in the crush is if the cow goes down on the ground it can be difficult for them to get up again.......i prefer to do it in a open shed or make a little pen with some gates

Well, if they get a jab, they will learn 🤙👌 she's nearly 10 and sensible 😉 thry can't be wrapped in bubble wrap all their lives best way to learn 😄
@Sam-shutt it's not about being wrapped up un bubble but it's dangerous if anyone of the kids got a jab of the needles specially after injection sheep but u don't understand much better what could possibly happen with dirty needles a child could die with getting pricked so u don't have to be smart but be more careful instead of being more stupid
@TommySan1234 its a brand new needle I put on before we came. Mabel passed me it and then put it back. Obviously realised he couldn't hold it quickly took it off him. There always careful and never hold needles. Not once in my 100 vids they have ever held a needle. Thanks for the comment 👍
