Wonderful! Nathan Lane is, in my opinion, one of few current Broadway actors who still embodies many of the qualities of the gone-by era of musical comedies. His physicality here is... delicious, to quote the lyrics. The choreography is also wonderful, of course.
So glad you enjoyed. Saw that it was Nathan Lane's birthday today, so it was time to post another Nathan video. It is part of this channel's celebration of Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday next month. And of course there hasn't been a Broadway "Forum" since Nathan's.
I saw “Dicks The Musical” mostly for Nathan Lane (also Megan Mullally and Megan Thee Stallion) That movie was a bit much for me but Lane is so great no matter what the role is.
This brings back such great memories from 28 years ago! I got to meet almost the whole cast and still have the autographs. When I mentioned to Mr. Sabella how much I loved "The Lion King", he spoke to me in Pumbaa's voice!
Lewis J. Stalden Is always in a show with Nathan, and I see why. The man is a scene stealer. They recently performed in a Broadway play called the Nance. Broadways best character actor.
I so much prefer stage versions of A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum to the film, from the time long ago when it was first staged in London. And I adore Nathan Lane.
You start with impeccable material and put it in the hands of this generations greatest stage talent Nathan Lane and the results are pure gold! What a great way to kick off the month - thank you Spiderwoman!!!
Never saw this version of this song. There's another version from the upper balcony. This one must have been during a dress rehearsal. Of course, it's a great piece and Stadlen is phenomenal with his vaudeville moves!!
THANK YOU! Please post any other clips you have of this production and Nathan's performance. This album was constantly played throughout my childhood and my dad talks about it as his favorite Broadway experience.
I fulfilled a lifelong dream of getting to play Marcus Lycus in a local production a few years ago. Had looked for this particular clip but couldn't find it. Thank you so much for posting!
Rudolf IX Didn’t happen, but it’s for the best. Either way, my school does about 5 shows a year, so it’s not like we all missed out on theatre altogether. We’re all alive so, there are way worse stories out there.

@@auroraspiderwoman5886 Oh, I've got great expectations for what you'll pull out for Mr Sondheim's birthday!
Came here as I mourn Sondheim’s passing. Nathan Lane was so perfect in this role.
@@auroraspiderwoman5886 Was this wonderful revival ever fully recorded on DVD?

Nathan's timing is amazing. John

I heard it in his voice
Such nimble choreography. A delight. I so wish there had been a pro DVD of this production.
*TIMON AND PUMBAA❤*
Nathan Lane is perfect truly
This was the first show I was ever in! I played Hysterium! What a great role and show!
I did this show in high school (1987). I was actually Senex (Hero’s dad).

Blessed my first ever Broadway show was a Sondheim Classic ♥️ RIP Maestro

And Pumbaa of The Lion King!
@@caltounite5814 i think you are looking at the wrong guy im talking about the guy in the yellow shirt he is from perfect strangers
@@kane7475 I meant the fourth guy wears purple uniform.
Oh shit your right I didn't know that both timon and pumba were in this musical wow that's amazing
The second guy is mark linn-baker, from perfect strangers - Hysterium.
Timon and Pumbaa?
Why do I always have to save your.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Timon & Pumbaa
Did I miss something?
This is so incredibly sexist. How can anyone watch this. This scene alone has set women's movement back 100 years.
So amateurish compared to the BBC Proms performance. Baffling why anyone rates Nathan Lane.
You're just so wrong.
