They can add a new 12,000 feet parallel runway on the north side while closing the cross runway. In between those two parallel runways, there is room for building one more terminal, 3-4 large maintenance hangers for commercial airlines, room for parking navy, coast guard and air force planes and building a large cargo complex. Need to hire good architects.
Next Target is for Kochi and Goa to beat Chennai air traffic. Kolkata, BLR and HYD did it already. By the way things are moving it will surely overtake chennai.
Please privatize this airport it deserves better. Mark my words this airport will make an impressive comeback. Plus the second airport proposed will have ability to handle 100 to 120 million passengers which is almost equal to entire population of Russia.
The only solution to get the Chennai airport in par with other newly developed airports like Banglore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, IGI,.....is to privatise it immediately. What the hell? So there will be just 1 international terminal and 2 domestic terminal flanking on either sides? If you're trying to increase int'l traffic then why not club T4 for both domestic and international together? Or better yet use the whole airport to cater both needs similar to IGI T3 and CSIA T2? From the pictures the integrated intl'l terminal has only 4 jetways and probably extra 4 remote parking bays. I don't understand this logic at all.

Tamils also wouldn't be able to tell Hindi names without a Tamil accent. There's nothing wrong in not being able to pronounce a foreign language perfectly. But that doesn't mean they should not put the effort to pronounce it correctly either. As a Tamil myself, I found her pronunciation adequate enough. And I highly doubt that you're an American who has never visited India with having such a local Tamil username lol.
