It's better to assume coefficients of reactants & products as a, b,c,d,e. Balancing means all atoms must be equal in both sides. Now solve a,b,c,d,e by writing equations. For S: a=c For N: b=d For H: b=2c + 2e For O: 3b=4c+2d+e Now assume any one as 1 & solve remaing by using these equations. For simplicity assume a or b =1. If a=1 then c =1. Now solve b,d & e. U will get b=d= 6, e= 2
Thnk u soo much Mr. Bresley u are really very talented in chemistry your videos are very easy to understand nd simple I was unable to understand in balancing these equations but seeing your videos I understood very easily 😊
Bcoz number of O2 on reactant side is even and if it would be multiplied to any of the numbers the result will also be an even number, But on product side we r having sum = odd number and which need to be converted into an even one so as to ensure a balanced equation, only 1 O atom in H2O need to be converted into even O's (bcoz other are already even but this one is not and hence causing a prblm) Therefore we will just multiply it by smallest even no. 2 to proceed further for balancing.

At 1:30, how did you come up with the coefficient of 2 for H2O? Just random? Instinct?
Bcoz number of O2 on reactant side is even and if it would be multiplied to any of the numbers the result will also be an even number,
But on product side we r having sum = odd number and which need to be converted into an even one so as to ensure a balanced equation, only 1 O atom in H2O need to be converted into even O's (bcoz other are already even but this one is not and hence causing a prblm)

I needed to balance S8+HNO3 = H2SO4 + NO2 + H2O in my midterm test. That is also quite difficult to solve.
The confusion comes here that why this equation is not balancing if I first try to balance the oxygen by a Fractional coefficient ?
Ha ha it was amaizing🤩🤩
Sir , plz give a short cut tricks,,,,, this is little bit hard
This is difficult equation to balance! You could use an algebraic method but that takes a while to learn.

On the other product look at carefully h2so4+4no2+2ho now you count how many oxygen reamains in right side equation
Thanks 🙏

But how their is in H2O we multiply by 2
Thanks

If S8 what is the answer
What reaction is this?
I'd probably just call it a redox reaction since some of the elements change their oxidation state.
- Dr. B
S+6HNO3→H2SO4+ 6NO2+ 2H20
Is it a reaction really occur?or SO2 will come out rather than H2SO4?
How oxygen become 13
Woww thank you
