did you even finish the series? because if you did you would know that the hollow ichigo, was his actual zanpakutou, and "Zangetsu" was actually Ywach and his quincy power. it wasn't a warning of anything. the dude even said it in this video @3:13
The only problem is that in this form, he didn’t just want to defeat him. Hollow ichigo wanted to humiliate him. The same way ichigo was humiliated. After this transformation the fight has hollow ichigo does what was done to him.
yes but at the same time I think he is right about that form not being vasto lorde ,remember what ulqiorra said ? Vasto lorde looses his ability of quick healing ,he is the only exception ,but still his fast regen is limited to non vital parts of the body such as limbs or eyes (he wasnt able to regenerate because of his lack of spiritual pressure).but also I dont think that his hollow trasformation was gillian or adjucas ,Aizen was able to use quick regeneration of vital organs ,hell he was split in half and survived ,I think that form which hollow ichigo pulled out was perfected form of shinigami/hollow hybrid since he is hybrid he is hollow and shinigami zanpakuto at the same time .last transformation of Aizen was shown to cover whole face with no visible eyes ,maybe it was not complete yet because he didnt merge with sword fully which was probbably last step of complete transformation .Also we all know that hollow ichigo had no business talking with ulquiorra or ishida he came to do his job and he has violent and sadistic personality which borders with madness yet still makes sense .Aizen also used in hybrid transformation sonido instead of flashstep which kinda proves my theory .Also horn of salvation form which is perfect hybridyzation of shinigami quincy and hollow was very similar to when ichigo wanted to gain dangai form (becoming getsuga itself ,it literally meant shukai ,absorbing sword spirit ,same as baishin did in movie ishin wanted to do the same thing ,but he was damaged to the point where he was unable to use shukai ) he basically fought his all powers merged together .
Be honest with yourselves, even if you knew Ichigo wouldn't die because he's the main character, seeing him come back looking like this was bone chilling What's terrifying about this form is the fact Ichigo isn't in control. He's gone berserk and he only wants to destroy, uncaring if it's a friend or foe
I think the scariest part is well that he isn't in control but that it's not that he is uncaring or anything it's that this is the rage and desire to humiliate of his Zanpakuto spirit. This is Zangetsu liberating himself as much as possible to take revenge. Also, notice how he doesn't attack anyone but Ulquiora until they try to get in the way of this revenge which is the equivalent of a friend getting in the middle of your crossfire when you are mad. Like this was nothing but cold calculated humiliating revenge towards Ulquiora the humiliation aspect also kinda explains why he doesn't respond to when Ulquiora talks to him. Also you can tell this isn't pure instinct but calculates action by the fact that when Ulq reveals his weaknesses to Zangetsu, Zangetsu imidately targets them. Like Zangetsu knew what he was doing and was effective at it. Now the reason why I think this is way scarier is because this means that if you defeat Ichigo to the point Ulquiora did you will have to deal with a vengeful Zangetsu which can use all the abilities Ichigo can except way better and way more powerful
I've just finished re-reading the whole of the Bleach manga and the series of panels of Orihime turning around in terror only to see Ichigo standing in his Vasto Larde form still gives me goose bumps.
Once a year or so i go back and rewatch the series and this is the moment that always hits the hardest. Ichigo literally was dragged back from the dead by his hollow after he heard Orihime screaming
Some of Vasto Lorde Ichigos actions in the fight vs Ulquiorra could also be considered revenge, not just for him but his friends as well (even if he wasn't in full control and attacked one). Ulquiorra was constantly dragging Ichigo's face through the pillars or just throwing him through them and the first thing Vasto Ichigo did was grab Ulquiorra by the face and drag him through a pillar, he then ripped Ulquiorra's arm off just like Ulquiorra did to Ishida, I believe it was even the same arm. (for any anime onlys, Ishida's arm was actually missing not just bleeding and Ichigo didn't cut Ulquiorra's arm of he ripped it off and then threw it back at him).
Ichigo also grabbed Aizen by the face in their fight. Since Dangai is supposed to be the ultimate form of Ichigo's power( from his incomplete bankai at least), it makes sense that he got a few tricks from his Hollow side.
How is he a vasto lorde? Literally no where in the manga or anime series was he refereed to as a vasto lorde, he didint consume hallows to become a vasto lorde, it’s his hallow fully manifested.
Wait, people actually believe this form wasn't foreshadowed? They clearly weren't paying attantion. The only thing that's surprising really is just how much stronger this form itself truly is, but also functions as a foreshadowing of just how powerful Ichigo's final shinigami form would be against Aizen.
I’ve heard that it was aizen’s intention, to allow ichigo to die, and this over powered hollow would kill all of his friends. The foreshadowing was genius, obscurity feeds into the bone chilling reveal, from the first mask that just wouldn’t let ichigo die. Along w hanataro’s appropriate reaction to guide us haha
@@Kyng_T That doesn't really make a lot of sense though. There are two main priblems: Why would Aizen care about any of his friends? And if Ichigo were to have died to release the beastial nature of that form to do so, what's the point if Ichigo isn't able to witness it due to being dead? Go back and re-watch/read the aftermath of the battle with Aizen as Ichigo talks to Urahara... He baasically opines that all Aizen really wanted was someone he could regard as his equal because he was incredibly lonely due to his power being so great. So if that's true then it's most likely that Ichigo was a hail mary attempt at finding that person, and if that didn't work he would effectively become the new soul king and rework the world so that he could find someone to fill that role. But because Ichigo so thoroughly passed him, his heart changed and the hogyouku 'rejects him' but really he's finally rejected the hogyoku.

@@jozuecoronel10 Fundamentally Aizen didn't want anyone weaker to rule over him and decide what he should or shouldn't do, but his power did make him lonely. However, if you think about it, seeing and understanding where Ichigo's power came from in their final fight - becoming one with the zanpakuto - meant that he could have a companion and would no longer be lonely, and more importantly not be oppressed by the whims of anyone. So, with that achieved, he likely no longer needed the hogyouku since his power would exceed even what that could provide. Knowing Ichigo's power and potential were incredibly high due to being quincy, hollow, and shinigami, all he needed was to prove he was even stronger than that.
Imo it wasn't surprising. Back when ulquiorra and yammy 1st invaded earth ulquiorra senses ichigo hidden power. Ulquiorra even states ichigo's hidden power surpasses his own.
Ichigo's Vaste Lordo form was definitely insane its design is badass with its lifeless cold expression where only instinct drives him to hunt down his prey i don't understand why people say this is a deus ex machina? when it clearly isn't

This was my fav transformation ever in bleach it’s so terrifying and it’s really shows what ichigo was holding all this team when white said, “you better not die”. I only wish this form was used more

I love this form one of the best examples of a heroes inner darkness being unleashed from the design, the roar, its power, and the shift in dynamics from a battle pov and thematic pov overall this form is a goat!
I never thought about it but the idea that Zangetsu was saying I will save you gave me chills. This only plays into the idea that Zangetsu is lonly and feels the pain Ichigo does. "The things that you wish to protect are not the things that I want to protect." I just love how complex Kubo can make even the zanpakutos feel in the series.

You left out the *“Chain”* ability where he was able to pull his sword to his hand from a distance, which I believe could be a Bankai ability Ichigo never learned.
I am pretty sure you are right with the last but infact I am pretty sure Ichigo could use it it's just he never did cuz the only times he lost grip of his sword is when he died (this very moment) or when he threw it and went to it in order to make a statement (" Ichigo save the souls society" moment ) other than that he never lost grip of his sword

It's true that Ichigo's transformation behaved like a beast, but that does not disqualify it from being an actual Vasto Lorde. We should remember that the inner hollow is just one part of Ichigo's beings. The one that represents instict and agression. The part of Ichigo that represented the inteligence and rationality was unconscious. That is exactly why the Vasto Lorde was out of control. Normally a hollow is it's own complete being, but in Ichido's case, White became part of Ichigo's soul as his zanpakuto. It's unusual, yes, but then Ichigo is an unusual individual. How often do you see a shinigami that's a shinigami, still living, a hollow and a quincy, all at the same time? He is the only one in existence.
Something that people overlook is that Ichigo's reiatsu was very low when he went Hollow. How strong would he have been if that form forced itself out when he was topped off?

Something interesting I like to bring up since I noticed it is when Ichigo is just using the Hollow mask, she mentions that she can't see herself reflected in Ichigo's eyes anymore. It's darkly poetic that, while in the Vasto Lorde form, you can't see Ichigo's eyes at all
Funny enough, he actually more vengeful and in control than one might think, seeing he actually called himself back(which is why Zangetsu came back to him from the ground) and I only see him attacking Ishida both because he was getting in the way of the fight that Hollow Ichigo always wants to have, and because he would only get hurt in trying to help. We see many many times that Zangetsu/Hollow Ichigo loves fighting no matter what fight he is in and always gets annoyed or angry when someone interferes with his fight/hunt, which could harken back to his days as White being made to hunt and infect, but who knows if it goes that deep.
I love your interpretation and explanation of Ichigo’s hollow, White. Seriously that little thing you said about “I’ll protect you” is sheer golden. Your video on white changed the way I feel about that power, Ichigo, his mom, and the story as a whole.
It’s scary that when ichigo was in this form he wasn’t even at full strength. Remember the clothes of a soul reaper? And white zangetsu looks like the complete form bankai and all. It’s also interesting how I never noticed that white zangetsu’s eyes aren’t yellow but also white like, interesting. This form looks like a Devil Reaper, the Devil and Death.

When Ichigo is leaving Hueco Mundo he makes a spirit bridge which he sucks at doing and pisses off Unohana so she takes the lead and then ichigo asks if he should be healed and she says it isn't necessary because she can feel his spiritual pressure and it's the level of a captain so she brushes it off. But then ichigo states that his clothes while in bankai show how much spiritual pressure he has left. And Unohana is left speechless and bug eyed because she looks at him and all he has left is like half of a single arm sleeve (This massive jump in spiritual pressure happened because "White" went berserk giving Ichigo a massive boost in power alongside it from him coming out) and ichigo looks at her confused. She then asks ichigo to take the lead again while she recovers his spiritual pressure which she does because when ichigo appears to sneak attack aizen he has his full bankai cloak back. It is not linked to his Quincy powers it is purely used as a sort of "timer" for how long his bankai can last like Hitsuguya's Ice petals that decay over time.

Even Tite Kubo himself has asked for his named to be removed from it because they ignored the notes he made for the movie and they just did their own thing with the characters and it doesn't fit in the timeline at all. Making the feats and statements in the movie utter throwaway power scaling. The scene with Unohana Retsu is a canon scene from the manga.
One minor correction that I find interesting. You said this form doesn't have eyes, and it doesn't...normally. When he finally is about to cut into Ulquiorra they glow yellow, almost like it's happy. It's happy it's won
I remember being genuinely afraid of this form when I first watched the episodes it was in. This was the most powerful and least human I'd seen Ichigo get, coupled with Orihime's reactions it really stuck with me.
My only complaint with the Vasto Lorde transformation is the scarcity of it. I personally thought that with his inner hollow being the manifestation of Ichigo's shinigami abilities that the Vasto Lorde should have been his true Bankai and not the hodgepodge mash up we got in the TWBW arc.
Hollows cultivate the body. Soul Reaper cultivate the Soul and the Zanpakuto while Quincies cultivate absorbing and channeling energy. It makes perfect sense that Ichigo's true unleashed Hollow powers would be a Ressurection working in harmony with his other powers. Ichigo is basically an Arrancar wielding a Zanpakuto style quincy bow.

He then goes into Bankai as well, using both simultaneously in what's become known as his Horn Of Salvation form due to that being the chapter's name where he does it. Even if it's not literally a Resurrection, it's effectively the same thing as his *body* transforms when he unleashes his hollow powers. He even gets a hollow hole in that form. Ichigo is a perfect hybrid, the first natural born Transcendent being since the original Soul King. Once his proper power structure was restored, his hollow power finally fused properly with him and he no longer superficially overlaid them on top of his other powers with a Vizard mask or Fullbringer armor.

Also, As “white” is both his Shinigami powers and hollows powers you could say it’s more a special ability of his Zanpakutō than a separate transformation, and for that reason calling it Resurrección seems far-fetched to me (since it’s literally him fusing with his Zanpakutō spirit). And just to be clear, Hollow merge and bankai used in unison isn’t called ‘Horn of Salvation’ it’s just another name used for his Hollow merge.
@@baldinggoldfish Ichigo's hollowficiation isn't caused by Quincy reiatsu disturbance. Ichigo simply used that method to help bring it out because he can't control it yet. Well technically a ressurection is a Zanpakuto technique. Ichigo releasing his Hollow powers from his Zanpakuto to transform into his hollowfied state, is not much different from an Arrancar using their Zanpakuto to release their true form and power, which is otherwise kept inside their Zanpakuto.
6:40 It's not that Hollow Ichigo can't differentiate between friend or foe when he attacked Uryuu, it was actually the opposite. Hichigo KNOWS that Uryuu is a Quincy; and who's been limiting Ichigo the entire time? Who's been inside Ichigo's "mindscape" battling for attention and control over Ichigo? A Quincy. I don't personally think that was Hichigo being a rage monster against Uryuu, I think it was him ✌🏾protecting Ichigo✌🏾 from another Quincy. Until the TYBW Ichigo was afraid of his hollow and always leaned towards his inner Juhabach, what better revenge for being discriminated against and shackled than by eliminating your jailer (Uryuu being a literal physical manifestation of the mental Quincy he shared with Ichigo)? I think he knew exactly what he was doing, but that's just me tho.
I think it's because because he was running on instincts. Uryuu tried to stop him from mutilating Ulquiorra's corpse because he thought he was just going to start carving him up, but it turned out Zangetsu knew better because Ulquiorra was clearly still alive. So he tried to kill Uryuu for getting in his way. He didn't just switch targets because it was a Quincy, he switched targets because he thought Uryuu was an enemy. Like, he's not with me so he must be against me, sort of.

So how is that "instincts" when Ulquiorra literally gave him the employee handbook on how to get the job done? 🙃 Hichigo's also not trying to kill Uryu; he sees and hears everything Ichigo does so he knows Uryu's Ichigo's friend.....he also knows it's another damn Quincy getting in the way of Ichigo completing the assignment. I like your theory, it definitely holds ground. But what if the line mentioned (paraphrased because I cannot remember it correctly), "I will become the king," was not towards Ichigo, but towards Old Man Zangetsu who was the wielder of the dormant Quincy powers? Since it has been confirmed that the Quincy part of Ichigo was doing its best to suppress the Shinigami powers within.

I love how Ulquiora reacts when he sees Vasto Lorde Ichigo just pull Zangetsu blade to him - telekinetically. My believe is, that in that moment, Ulqiora realized, he is in fact dealing with Zangetsu. Also beautiful foreshadowing of the true nature of "Hichigo", if you ask me.

I have a theory about Vasto Lorde Ichigo during his fight with Ulquiorra. He hated Ulquiorra because of the beat down he handed to Ichigo, thus he really wanted to kill him in the most humiliating way. His attack on Ishida seemed out of nowhere but remember that Hollows and Quincy's don't get along. The instinct to destroy all who are enemies of the King is strong in Whyte. It's just a theory though.
You should do a mini video on the confusion in the power of vasto lords, it seems like only stark would have been a match for a captain before becoming an arrancar. and then maybe speculate if the other espada had any previous vasto lords. I think it was just espadas 0-4 that were vasto. And I think zayellaporro was too before the soul split but that’s light novel stuff.
@@R0m0n3 Barragan was special as i don't think there was any other Hollow that was a pure skeleton and even then the only thing that could kill him was his own power of Decay. Maybe Yama's Bankai would have done it at the cost of the world as they were fighting in the Human world at the time
They did mention that there are less than ten Vasto Lordes in existence. Pair that with Aizen's experiments and maybe the one that died in one of the movies and it makes sense that only four or maybe even only three were alive to become Arrancar
I've always had a little theory about this form. Zangetsu(the hollow) said that he'd take over if Ichigo ever showed weakness and later down the line, it is confirmed that he did this primarily to protect Ichigo. We also know that the manifistation of Juha Bach was always actively surpressing Zangetsu. What if the reason that Ichigo went beserk against Ulqiorra was because of Juha desparately trying to stop Zangetsu? And as a result the only thing that got through was a base survival instinct? Every other time the hollow manifested, it could still hold enough of it's intelligence to speak, albeit like the psycho he is. The only time he didn't speak was when he needed more power, like with the vizard training and with Ulqiorra, whereas against Byakuya, he was still able to talk. Kinda makes me think that Juha's intentions had a lot of unexpexted consequences
It’s true that Ichigo’s hollow wants to protect him but the line “I will protect you” is still directed to Orihime, for the simple fact that he said “she’s calling me”. Besides he would’ve attacked her then and there like he did to Ishida but he didn’t
Hollow Ichigo is still shown to be capable of protecting those close to Ichigo, like in Hell Verse. I think the "she's calling me" was Ichigo's last thoughts before going unconcious and the hollow just respected that enough to ignore her. as for Ishida, i see two reasons why he got skewered. 1. He's a quincy. The Quincy was what held hid soul reaper/hollow power back. This might've been a way of taking revenge, forcing Juha Bach to watch another young and bright quiincy get put down by another soul reaper weapon 2. Ishida got in his way when he tried to finish the job. Keep in mind that Ulqiorra immediately got up to take a shot at him when he was looking to end Ishida. I think the hollow knew Ulqiorra wouldn't die easy and wanted to ensure he stayed dead but Ishida trying to stop him jeapordized his mission of keeping Ichigo safe. And thus the quincy shish kebab
I loved this form. one of my favorite behind mugetsu and fullbring bankai. White is my favorite character in the series tbh. I loved the foreshadowing by kubo. awesome take on it keep It up 🙏
I was about to comment this. One of the shocking things about this scene besides the savagery firing a cero point blank at Ulquiorra. I think hollow Ichigo just pulls an extension of himself. Probably only warriors in tuned with their soul can do the same but since it is the spirit itself it doesn't require the host (Ichigo) to know. That's my interpretation
@@RoamingnomadRN iirc though in the anime the broken chain links attached to the pomel of tensa zangetsu actually has the rest of the chains as invisible. so him tugging the chain makes sense but it's still amazing that he used it that way and another of zangetsu's "feature" ichigo didn't know about
@@rioz886 That ability is called Chain. The chain of tensa Zangetsu looks broken but it's not it is simply connected to Ichigo. That Is why he can telekinetic summon his sword.

At 4:32 we see it says "I will protect you." When I saw that in the anime I always wondered. Was that Ichigo telling Orihime, I will protect you/her. Or was it Ichigos inner hollow saying , I will protect you TO Ichigo. Always wondered which it was. Edited : Nvm DBZImran covered that. I was impatient and didn't finish the video before I commented. It was Ichigo's voice saying that to Orihime. Orihime's screams reached Ichigo's soul beyond death and it triggered his hollow transformation, who's only goal is Ichigo's survival. This means that Orihime is Ichigo's tether to his humanity.
Ya know, I think that this form may have appeared berserk, but... He fought intelligently. He mercilessly and effectively destroyed the opposition. That is in my opinion the scariest thing.
This form also gave more foreshadowing the the hollow was Ichigo's true zanpakto spirit because when Vasto Lorde opened his hand, what was called to it? ZANGETSU!!
I feel like most people forget this, and it might only be true of my immediate friend group, but the only reason most referred to the form as "Vasto Lorde" is because when Hitsuguya explained the hallow ranks to ichigo the silhouette of the Vasto Lorde matched the form ichigo took
So it was a fair deal after all, mugetsu was the max power of his Shinigami powers at the cost of losing his power and Vasto lorde is the max of his hollow powes but at the cost of losing his sanity ….aizen always anticipated that Ichigo will fight him with vasto lorde form but guess what even the geniuses fail…😏
the people who call Ichigo's vasto lorde form as deus ex machina and bad writing are the same people who would go out of their way to proclaim that Gon's transformation in his fight against Pitou is genius level writing. I love Gon's transformation but to be honest, it was out of the blue. We were never warned that something like that is possible. But the power system in Hunter x Hunter is soooo complex that is was never impossible for Gon to access a power of that extent. However, people often regard Ichigo's vasto lorde form as literally an asspull and so unearned. But the thing is, Kubo has been very subtle in scattering the clues all over the story that people tend to miss them. It's just unfair. Bleach has been subjected to unfair criticisms. When it comes to Bleach, suddenly, the entire anime community becomes 'expert writers'. Everybody just know how to write a great story. And ALL anime are great stories except Bleach. Bleach is bad. Damn.
To be fair Gons transformation was foreshadowed due to Kurapikas ability. Kurapika explained that the more extreme the “rules” you place on your nen the stronger the ability manifests (him only being able to use his full capabilities against the Spider Troupe). Gon was so upset that he literally said out loud “I don’t care what happens anymore” and placed a rule on his nen to access his full capabilities far too early. Basically made a contract with himself that as long as he could access all his nen in his prime this one time he would never be able to use it again and the results were amazing lol
@@TheManInTheRedHat i get that. but I thought the rules are made at the very beginning of learning nen. because if the rules can be changed, or you can add rules, that just makes it possible for everyone to continually improve their nen to the infinite scale. but then again, kite's nen ability is too complex that it is possible he did not make all the rules in day 1. he must have been continually improving his nen by learning the gray areas where he can add additional abilities.

I just noticed that when we see white again he has the full bankai like coat but with fur around the neck. But when ichigo first transformed he only had a sleeve bc of the beatdown he suffered before hand. So wouldn't that mean that he was absolutely stomping Ulquiorra and wasn't even at full strength?
Ichigo lost half of his spiritual pressure while he was stomping ulquiorra. As evidenced by his half torn shihakusho. He was at half strength when he humiliated the 4th espada.
It was toshirou that said this and in this arc toshiro is still trash lvl and he is a captain so maybe his referring that vasto lorde is stronger than him that is a captain
Actually, starrk isn't the strongest, the ranks was messed up so Aizen can trick everybody and Aizen wanted Ichigo to go Hollow after being killed by Ulquiorra to fight him because Aizen wanted to fight someone his level
I feel like Ichigo being in Hueco Mundo played a small if not large part of how this transformation happened. Ichigo foreshadowed a few times prior that his energy / power felt different in Hueco Mundo which I think also aided him against Grimmjow. Was that his Hollow side reacting or having some home turf boost?
So if Ichigo’s power was always coming from his inner hollow, is that the reason why Byakuya doesn’t recognize Ichigo’s bankai as a real bankai. Is Ichigo’s bankai actually a resurreccion?
Ichigo's bankai is actually a imitation of his real one made using Quincy powers, he achives his real bankai after manifesting his real shikai. The one byakuya saw was a quincy pretending to be a soul reaper and he later learn black getsuga which comes from his hollow/shinigami part so it has a little bit that mixed in. There isn't a name for this form but it's certainly not a resurrection since it's mostly made of Quincy powers.
I always considered that transformation to be more like a berserker because of the pure madness of the form to destroy everything and any one in its way. also in regard to what ever that form can be or not be a vasto lord we should consider how hollows become a vasto lord. hollow evolution happens when a hollow need to consume hollows to evolve by taking there spiritual energy and making them there on, so from that we can consider the when ichigo kill a hollow with his hollowfied zanpakuto to be the same as if he consume them and evolving
It's not White taking over. People think it's White taking over because he said he would if Ichigo showed weakness. But him warning Ichigo about dying is NOT part of that. It's a seperate follow-up warning about Ichigo controlling his hollow powers at all, not if White will take over. Whenever White takes over he is still in control mentally, as highlighted during the fight with Byakuya. White is savage in nature but still fully sentient. He could actually talk to Byakuya and respond to questions wheras Vasto Lorde Ichigo couldn't. The one time he talks he's muttering in a unconscious manner about protecting Orihime. Vasto Lorde Ichigo was instead closer to the state Ichigo's body entered when fighting White, when his hollow powers were rampaging and the Vizards had to supress him until he gained control and became a proper Vizard himself. "You feared taking on this form that occurs when your mind is suppressed by your own destructive impulses. As a result you've become incapable of properly hollowfying." - Zangetsu This is why, after that event, putting on the mask is difficult and why it's "heavy" and "brittle".
Exactly. I wasn't sure if I was remembering correctly but I was thinking like, ''yeah. Hollow Ichigo was talking during his battle with Byakuya very coherently at that.'' I also forgot about Hollow Ichigo turning to Orihime repeating "I will protect you". whether that was a misdirect by Kubo to hide Ichigo's true power origin idk but I personally think that line could work for both Ichigo and Orihime.
well when whitte came out when he was fighting byakuya he wasnt techinally dead so the old man was still surpressing some of whites power but at the vasta lorde transformation ichiago was techinally dead so were his quicny powers that had been surpressing his hollow powers.

Besides, Ichigo's Zanpakuto hadn't broken or even started breaking yet, and his spirit energy was clearly still flowing. He hadn't died. He was just fatally wounded and unconscious, just like the first time Ulquiorra took him out. Actually, there he was even worse off because his Bankai disappeared, showing he didn't have enough energy to maintain it.
Would it be safe to say that, since Ichigo was dead, he had no living brain for the hollow to control? This could be why it demonstrated all of the characteristics of a Vasto Lorde other than intelligence. Since the assumption in the video is that it is more of an undead creature due to the lack of intelligence, I think my idea holds up. If Ichigo were living during the transformation, I think it would have had the same intelligence we see in the actual hollow spirit. Sort of like when the hollow began talking when Ichigo put on the mask.
He wasn't completely dead at the time. More like in an unconscious state. He was berserk because of his Hollow instincts completely taking over his sanity.

But yeah technically he didn’t die and the hollow saved him at the last moment. At the same time though, considering Ichigo’s hollow is “White”, the first Vasto Lorde, I feel that it is still safe to say that the form is a Vasto Lorde fused with shinigami powers. After all, the form doesn’t look all that different from “White’s” original form
I would oppose the mindless part. I would instead suggest that this was the "very controlled" interpretation of stretching his legs from hollow Ichigo. Hollow Ichigo simply making good use of the first time he got fully of leash for a long time. And Uryu is a friend of regular Ichigo, the other one doesn't give a shit. Just another strong target for practice.

You're right when you say it left an impression. Its one of the very few rare anime transformations that still instill slight fear because of what it represents: raw instinct. Its silhouette alone is gnarly enough to be impressive and make you remember it.
A lot of people say Bleach peaked in the save Rukia arc, I say it peaked during his fight with Uliqueorra. I just finished it and it is unreal how well the studio animated and choreographed those fights. The feel and utter helpless Uliqueorra makes you feel after he transforms not once but during that second stage is unreal
I had the impression that he was operating off of his last conscious thoughts and goals. protecting his friends was part of this, but what it boiled down to was "Defeat Ulquiorra." which is why even when Uryu approached him, he didn't lash out until after he (Unknowingly) tried to stop him from finishing off Ulquiorra.
I LOVE that kubo use of Hair length as a power indicator. Taking it from the story of Samson whose powers were his hair. And once cut he isnt strong. This is reflected by breaking a horn to cut the power down. And loved the blacken eyes becoming brighter during attacks
Ichigo is a very special person. He is a combined Visard...Quincy...and Shinigami. So he has access to so many different powers that you never know what he is doing.
I'm a big fan of Bleach, didn't have time now to watch the new arc but for youtube to recommend this that means the interest of others for the series is at all time high.
another foreshadowing was when he called his sword to him basically the hollow using his own ability to do that. Im not aware of any other shinigami that is able to calll for his/her zanpakto
I am a little surprised no one acknowledged the fact Ichigo hollows powers, whenever they took full control, visibly show the progression in strength via the class/ranks of hollows shown in Hitsugaya's explanation in this video here.

yes but at the same time I think he is right about that form not being vasto lorde ,remember what ulqiorra said ? Vasto lorde looses his ability of quick healing ,he is the only exception ,but still his fast regen is limited to non vital parts of the body such as limbs or eyes (he wasnt able to regenerate because of his lack of spiritual pressure).but also I dont think that his hollow trasformation was gillian or adjucas ,Aizen was able to use quick regeneration of vital organs ,hell he was split in half and survived ,I think that form which hollow ichigo pulled out was perfected form of shinigami/hollow hybrid since he is hybrid he is hollow and shinigami zanpakuto at the same time .last transformation of Aizen was shown to cover whole face with no visible eyes ,maybe it was not complete yet because he didnt merge with sword fully which was probbably last step of complete transformation .Also we all know that hollow ichigo had no business talking with ulquiorra or ishida he came to do his job and he has violent and sadistic personality which borders with madness yet still makes sense .Aizen also used in hybrid transformation sonido instead of flashstep which kinda proves my theory .Also horn of salvation form which is perfect hybridyzation of shinigami quincy and hollow was very similar to when ichigo wanted to gain dangai form (becoming getsuga itself ,it literally meant shukai ,absorbing sword spirit ,same as baishin did in movie ishin wanted to do the same thing ,but he was damaged to the point where he was unable to use shukai ) he basically fought his all powers merged together .

Yeah back in 2009 when I 1st seen it in the anime it was one of the best and hypest transformations I seen.
I think the scariest part is well that he isn't in control but that it's not that he is uncaring or anything it's that this is the rage and desire to humiliate of his Zanpakuto spirit. This is Zangetsu liberating himself as much as possible to take revenge. Also, notice how he doesn't attack anyone but Ulquiora until they try to get in the way of this revenge which is the equivalent of a friend getting in the middle of your crossfire when you are mad. Like this was nothing but cold calculated humiliating revenge towards Ulquiora the humiliation aspect also kinda explains why he doesn't respond to when Ulquiora talks to him. Also you can tell this isn't pure instinct but calculates action by the fact that when Ulq reveals his weaknesses to Zangetsu, Zangetsu imidately targets them. Like Zangetsu knew what he was doing and was effective at it. Now the reason why I think this is way scarier is because this means that if you defeat Ichigo to the point Ulquiora did you will have to deal with a vengeful Zangetsu which can use all the abilities Ichigo can except way better and way more powerful

I've just finished re-reading the whole of the Bleach manga and the series of panels of Orihime turning around in terror only to see Ichigo standing in his Vasto Larde form still gives me goose bumps.

Once a year or so i go back and rewatch the series and this is the moment that always hits the hardest. Ichigo literally was dragged back from the dead by his hollow after he heard Orihime screaming

Some of Vasto Lorde Ichigos actions in the fight vs Ulquiorra could also be considered revenge, not just for him but his friends as well (even if he wasn't in full control and attacked one). Ulquiorra was constantly dragging Ichigo's face through the pillars or just throwing him through them and the first thing Vasto Ichigo did was grab Ulquiorra by the face and drag him through a pillar, he then ripped Ulquiorra's arm off just like Ulquiorra did to Ishida, I believe it was even the same arm. (for any anime onlys, Ishida's arm was actually missing not just bleeding and Ichigo didn't cut Ulquiorra's arm of he ripped it off and then threw it back at him).

Ichigo also grabbed Aizen by the face in their fight. Since Dangai is supposed to be the ultimate form of Ichigo's power( from his incomplete bankai at least), it makes sense that he got a few tricks from his Hollow side.

The only thing that's surprising really is just how much stronger this form itself truly is, but also functions as a foreshadowing of just how powerful Ichigo's final shinigami form would be against Aizen.
I’ve heard that it was aizen’s intention, to allow ichigo to die, and this over powered hollow would kill all of his friends. The foreshadowing was genius, obscurity feeds into the bone chilling reveal, from the first mask that just wouldn’t let ichigo die. Along w hanataro’s appropriate reaction to guide us haha

Why would Aizen care about any of his friends? And if Ichigo were to have died to release the beastial nature of that form to do so, what's the point if Ichigo isn't able to witness it due to being dead?
Go back and re-watch/read the aftermath of the battle with Aizen as Ichigo talks to Urahara... He baasically opines that all Aizen really wanted was someone he could regard as his equal because he was incredibly lonely due to his power being so great. So if that's true then it's most likely that Ichigo was a hail mary attempt at finding that person, and if that didn't work he would effectively become the new soul king and rework the world so that he could find someone to fill that role. But because Ichigo so thoroughly passed him, his heart changed and the hogyouku 'rejects him' but really he's finally rejected the hogyoku.

@@jozuecoronel10 Fundamentally Aizen didn't want anyone weaker to rule over him and decide what he should or shouldn't do, but his power did make him lonely. However, if you think about it, seeing and understanding where Ichigo's power came from in their final fight - becoming one with the zanpakuto - meant that he could have a companion and would no longer be lonely, and more importantly not be oppressed by the whims of anyone. So, with that achieved, he likely no longer needed the hogyouku since his power would exceed even what that could provide. Knowing Ichigo's power and potential were incredibly high due to being quincy, hollow, and shinigami, all he needed was to prove he was even stronger than that.
Imo it wasn't surprising. Back when ulquiorra and yammy 1st invaded earth ulquiorra senses ichigo hidden power. Ulquiorra even states ichigo's hidden power surpasses his own.

I love this form one of the best examples of a heroes inner darkness being unleashed from the design, the roar, its power, and the shift in dynamics from a battle pov and thematic pov overall this form is a goat!
I never thought about it but the idea that Zangetsu was saying I will save you gave me chills. This only plays into the idea that Zangetsu is lonly and feels the pain Ichigo does. "The things that you wish to protect are not the things that I want to protect." I just love how complex Kubo can make even the zanpakutos feel in the series.

You left out the *“Chain”* ability where he was able to pull his sword to his hand from a distance, which I believe could be a Bankai ability Ichigo never learned.
I am pretty sure you are right with the last but infact I am pretty sure Ichigo could use it it's just he never did cuz the only times he lost grip of his sword is when he died (this very moment) or when he threw it and went to it in order to make a statement (" Ichigo save the souls society" moment ) other than that he never lost grip of his sword

It's true that Ichigo's transformation behaved like a beast, but that does not disqualify it from being an actual Vasto Lorde. We should remember that the inner hollow is just one part of Ichigo's beings. The one that represents instict and agression. The part of Ichigo that represented the inteligence and rationality was unconscious. That is exactly why the Vasto Lorde was out of control. Normally a hollow is it's own complete being, but in Ichido's case, White became part of Ichigo's soul as his zanpakuto. It's unusual, yes, but then Ichigo is an unusual individual. How often do you see a shinigami that's a shinigami, still living, a hollow and a quincy, all at the same time? He is the only one in existence.

Something that people overlook is that Ichigo's reiatsu was very low when he went Hollow. How strong would he have been if that form forced itself out when he was topped off?

Something interesting I like to bring up since I noticed it is when Ichigo is just using the Hollow mask, she mentions that she can't see herself reflected in Ichigo's eyes anymore. It's darkly poetic that, while in the Vasto Lorde form, you can't see Ichigo's eyes at all

Funny enough, he actually more vengeful and in control than one might think, seeing he actually called himself back(which is why Zangetsu came back to him from the ground) and I only see him attacking Ishida both because he was getting in the way of the fight that Hollow Ichigo always wants to have, and because he would only get hurt in trying to help.
We see many many times that Zangetsu/Hollow Ichigo loves fighting no matter what fight he is in and always gets annoyed or angry when someone interferes with his fight/hunt, which could harken back to his days as White being made to hunt and infect, but who knows if it goes that deep.

It might also be the hollow just sensing that Ishida is a quincy and trying to get back at him for what Juha Bach is doing inside Ichigo

When Ichigo is leaving Hueco Mundo he makes a spirit bridge which he sucks at doing and pisses off Unohana so she takes the lead and then ichigo asks if he should be healed and she says it isn't necessary because she can feel his spiritual pressure and it's the level of a captain so she brushes it off. But then ichigo states that his clothes while in bankai show how much spiritual pressure he has left. And Unohana is left speechless and bug eyed because she looks at him and all he has left is like half of a single arm sleeve (This massive jump in spiritual pressure happened because "White" went berserk giving Ichigo a massive boost in power alongside it from him coming out) and ichigo looks at her confused. She then asks ichigo to take the lead again while she recovers his spiritual pressure which she does because when ichigo appears to sneak attack aizen he has his full bankai cloak back. It is not linked to his Quincy powers it is purely used as a sort of "timer" for how long his bankai can last like Hitsuguya's Ice petals that decay over time.
@Alex Rodriguez Hellverse isn't canon. Even Tite Kubo himself has asked for his named to be removed from it because they ignored the notes he made for the movie and they just did their own thing with the characters and it doesn't fit in the timeline at all. Making the feats and statements in the movie utter throwaway power scaling. The scene with Unohana Retsu is a canon scene from the manga.

I loved how well they showed the power scaling at the beginning to the end of the fight.
I remember being genuinely afraid of this form when I first watched the episodes it was in.
This was the most powerful and least human I'd seen Ichigo get, coupled with Orihime's reactions it really stuck with me.
Vasto Lorde Ichigo's roar is so terrifying that i put the TV in mute sometimes when that part happens.
My only complaint with the Vasto Lorde transformation is the scarcity of it. I personally thought that with his inner hollow being the manifestation of Ichigo's shinigami abilities that the Vasto Lorde should have been his true Bankai and not the hodgepodge mash up we got in the TWBW arc.
Hollows cultivate the body. Soul Reaper cultivate the Soul and the Zanpakuto while Quincies cultivate absorbing and channeling energy. It makes perfect sense that Ichigo's true unleashed Hollow powers would be a Ressurection working in harmony with his other powers.
Ichigo is basically an Arrancar wielding a Zanpakuto style quincy bow.

He then goes into Bankai as well, using both simultaneously in what's become known as his Horn Of Salvation form due to that being the chapter's name where he does it. Even if it's not literally a Resurrection, it's effectively the same thing as his *body* transforms when he unleashes his hollow powers. He even gets a hollow hole in that form.
Ichigo is a perfect hybrid, the first natural born Transcendent being since the original Soul King. Once his proper power structure was restored, his hollow power finally fused properly with him and he no longer superficially overlaid them on top of his other powers with a Vizard mask or Fullbringer armor.

Also, As “white” is both his Shinigami powers and hollows powers you could say it’s more a special ability of his Zanpakutō than a separate transformation, and for that reason calling it Resurrección seems far-fetched to me (since it’s literally him fusing with his Zanpakutō spirit). And just to be clear, Hollow merge and bankai used in unison isn’t called ‘Horn of Salvation’ it’s just another name used for his Hollow merge.

Well technically a ressurection is a Zanpakuto technique. Ichigo releasing his Hollow powers from his Zanpakuto to transform into his hollowfied state, is not much different from an Arrancar using their Zanpakuto to release their true form and power, which is otherwise kept inside their Zanpakuto.

It's not that Hollow Ichigo can't differentiate between friend or foe when he attacked Uryuu, it was actually the opposite.
Hichigo KNOWS that Uryuu is a Quincy; and who's been limiting Ichigo the entire time? Who's been inside Ichigo's "mindscape" battling for attention and control over Ichigo? A Quincy.
I don't personally think that was Hichigo being a rage monster against Uryuu, I think it was him ✌🏾protecting Ichigo✌🏾 from another Quincy.
Until the TYBW Ichigo was afraid of his hollow and always leaned towards his inner Juhabach, what better revenge for being discriminated against and shackled than by eliminating your jailer (Uryuu being a literal physical manifestation of the mental Quincy he shared with Ichigo)?

I think it's because because he was running on instincts. Uryuu tried to stop him from mutilating Ulquiorra's corpse because he thought he was just going to start carving him up, but it turned out Zangetsu knew better because Ulquiorra was clearly still alive. So he tried to kill Uryuu for getting in his way. He didn't just switch targets because it was a Quincy, he switched targets because he thought Uryuu was an enemy. Like, he's not with me so he must be against me, sort of.

Yes Uryu held him back from finishing off Ulquiorra, but no, it wasn't Hichigo running off "instincts". Again, Hichigo ain't a rage monster or a rabid animal that just attacks anything; he told us who he was and what he's about that time he lectured Ichigo on being either a king or a horse when it comes to battle 👌🏾 That being said, going back to the current fight (Hichigo vs Ulquiorra), we can't call this "him running on instincts" when a few minutes into the fight Ulquiorra says this 👇🏾

Ulquiorra's down to a head and torso but wait a minute! Ain't a brain in heads, and internal organs in torsos? 🤔 Wasn't that also the one time Ulquiorra said "Kill me"? So how is that "instincts" when Ulquiorra literally gave him the employee handbook on how to get the job done? 🙃
Hichigo's also not trying to kill Uryu; he sees and hears everything Ichigo does so he knows Uryu's Ichigo's friend.....he also knows it's another damn Quincy getting in the way of Ichigo completing the assignment. I like your theory, it definitely holds ground. But what if the line mentioned (paraphrased because I cannot remember it correctly), "I will become the king," was not towards Ichigo, but towards Old Man Zangetsu who was the wielder of the dormant Quincy powers? Since it has been confirmed that the Quincy part of Ichigo was doing its best to suppress the Shinigami powers within.

I have a theory about Vasto Lorde Ichigo during his fight with Ulquiorra.
He hated Ulquiorra because of the beat down he handed to Ichigo, thus he really wanted to kill him in the most humiliating way. His attack on Ishida seemed out of nowhere but remember that Hollows and Quincy's don't get along. The instinct to destroy all who are enemies of the King is strong in Whyte.
It's just a theory though.
I see it more of a push, like "get away from me". Vasto Lorde Ichigo could have easily just killed Ishida with one strike, but he didn't.

You should do a mini video on the confusion in the power of vasto lords, it seems like only stark would have been a match for a captain before becoming an arrancar. and then maybe speculate if the other espada had any previous vasto lords. I think it was just espadas 0-4 that were vasto. And I think zayellaporro was too before the soul split but that’s light novel stuff.

They did mention that there are less than ten Vasto Lordes in existence. Pair that with Aizen's experiments and maybe the one that died in one of the movies and it makes sense that only four or maybe even only three were alive to become Arrancar

I've always had a little theory about this form. Zangetsu(the hollow) said that he'd take over if Ichigo ever showed weakness and later down the line, it is confirmed that he did this primarily to protect Ichigo. We also know that the manifistation of Juha Bach was always actively surpressing Zangetsu. What if the reason that Ichigo went beserk against Ulqiorra was because of Juha desparately trying to stop Zangetsu? And as a result the only thing that got through was a base survival instinct? Every other time the hollow manifested, it could still hold enough of it's intelligence to speak, albeit like the psycho he is. The only time he didn't speak was when he needed more power, like with the vizard training and with Ulqiorra, whereas against Byakuya, he was still able to talk. Kinda makes me think that Juha's intentions had a lot of unexpexted consequences
It’s true that Ichigo’s hollow wants to protect him but the line “I will protect you” is still directed to Orihime, for the simple fact that he said “she’s calling me”. Besides he would’ve attacked her then and there like he did to Ishida but he didn’t
Hollow Ichigo is still shown to be capable of protecting those close to Ichigo, like in Hell Verse. I think the "she's calling me" was Ichigo's last thoughts before going unconcious and the hollow just respected that enough to ignore her.
as for Ishida, i see two reasons why he got skewered.
1. He's a quincy. The Quincy was what held hid soul reaper/hollow power back. This might've been a way of taking revenge, forcing Juha Bach to watch another young and bright quiincy get put down by another soul reaper weapon
2. Ishida got in his way when he tried to finish the job. Keep in mind that Ulqiorra immediately got up to take a shot at him when he was looking to end Ishida. I think the hollow knew Ulqiorra wouldn't die easy and wanted to ensure he stayed dead but Ishida trying to stop him jeapordized his mission of keeping Ichigo safe. And thus the quincy shish kebab
Funny enough, zangetsu claims to be Ichigo’s instinct which means naturally, he would protect Orihime in his own hollow way. 😂😂😂😂

I was about to comment this. One of the shocking things about this scene besides the savagery firing a cero point blank at Ulquiorra. I think hollow Ichigo just pulls an extension of himself. Probably only warriors in tuned with their soul can do the same but since it is the spirit itself it doesn't require the host (Ichigo) to know. That's my interpretation

It was Ichigo's voice saying that to Orihime. Orihime's screams reached Ichigo's soul beyond death and it triggered his hollow transformation, who's only goal is Ichigo's survival. This means that Orihime is Ichigo's tether to his humanity.
Ya know, I think that this form may have appeared berserk, but... He fought intelligently. He mercilessly and effectively destroyed the opposition. That is in my opinion the scariest thing.

the people who call Ichigo's vasto lorde form as deus ex machina and bad writing are the same people who would go out of their way to proclaim that Gon's transformation in his fight against Pitou is genius level writing. I love Gon's transformation but to be honest, it was out of the blue. We were never warned that something like that is possible. But the power system in Hunter x Hunter is soooo complex that is was never impossible for Gon to access a power of that extent. However, people often regard Ichigo's vasto lorde form as literally an asspull and so unearned. But the thing is, Kubo has been very subtle in scattering the clues all over the story that people tend to miss them. It's just unfair. Bleach has been subjected to unfair criticisms. When it comes to Bleach, suddenly, the entire anime community becomes 'expert writers'. Everybody just know how to write a great story. And ALL anime are great stories except Bleach. Bleach is bad. Damn.
To be fair Gons transformation was foreshadowed due to Kurapikas ability. Kurapika explained that the more extreme the “rules” you place on your nen the stronger the ability manifests (him only being able to use his full capabilities against the Spider Troupe). Gon was so upset that he literally said out loud “I don’t care what happens anymore” and placed a rule on his nen to access his full capabilities far too early. Basically made a contract with himself that as long as he could access all his nen in his prime this one time he would never be able to use it again and the results were amazing lol
@@TheManInTheRedHat i get that. but I thought the rules are made at the very beginning of learning nen. because if the rules can be changed, or you can add rules, that just makes it possible for everyone to continually improve their nen to the infinite scale. but then again, kite's nen ability is too complex that it is possible he did not make all the rules in day 1. he must have been continually improving his nen by learning the gray areas where he can add additional abilities.

I just noticed that when we see white again he has the full bankai like coat but with fur around the neck. But when ichigo first transformed he only had a sleeve bc of the beatdown he suffered before hand. So wouldn't that mean that he was absolutely stomping Ulquiorra and wasn't even at full strength?

I feel like Ichigo being in Hueco Mundo played a small if not large part of how this transformation happened. Ichigo foreshadowed a few times prior that his energy / power felt different in Hueco Mundo which I think also aided him against Grimmjow. Was that his Hollow side reacting or having some home turf boost?
Hollows strive naturally in hueco Mundo. Even Orihime and Chad had boosts.

Ichigo's bankai is actually a imitation of his real one made using Quincy powers, he achives his real bankai after manifesting his real shikai. The one byakuya saw was a quincy pretending to be a soul reaper and he later learn black getsuga which comes from his hollow/shinigami part so it has a little bit that mixed in. There isn't a name for this form but it's certainly not a resurrection since it's mostly made of Quincy powers.

I always considered that transformation to be more like a berserker because
of the pure madness of the form to destroy everything and any one in its way. also in regard to what ever that form can be or not be a vasto lord we should consider how hollows become a vasto lord.
hollow evolution happens when a hollow need to consume hollows to evolve by taking there spiritual energy and making them there on, so from that we can consider the when ichigo kill a hollow with his hollowfied zanpakuto to be the same as if he consume them and evolving

Yea, you're right. But Ichigo's desire to protect her was the last remnant of his humanity, which is even more meaningful anyways.
It's not White taking over. People think it's White taking over because he said he would if Ichigo showed weakness. But him warning Ichigo about dying is NOT part of that. It's a seperate follow-up warning about Ichigo controlling his hollow powers at all, not if White will take over. Whenever White takes over he is still in control mentally, as highlighted during the fight with Byakuya. White is savage in nature but still fully sentient. He could actually talk to Byakuya and respond to questions wheras Vasto Lorde Ichigo couldn't. The one time he talks he's muttering in a unconscious manner about protecting Orihime.
Vasto Lorde Ichigo was instead closer to the state Ichigo's body entered when fighting White, when his hollow powers were rampaging and the Vizards had to supress him until he gained control and became a proper Vizard himself.

I also forgot about Hollow Ichigo turning to Orihime repeating "I will protect you". whether that was a misdirect by Kubo to hide Ichigo's true power origin idk but I personally think that line could work for both Ichigo and Orihime.
well when whitte came out when he was fighting byakuya he wasnt techinally dead so the old man was still surpressing some of whites power but at the vasta lorde transformation ichiago was techinally dead so were his quicny powers that had been surpressing his hollow powers.

Besides, Ichigo's Zanpakuto hadn't broken or even started breaking yet, and his spirit energy was clearly still flowing. He hadn't died. He was just fatally wounded and unconscious, just like the first time Ulquiorra took him out. Actually, there he was even worse off because his Bankai disappeared, showing he didn't have enough energy to maintain it.
Would it be safe to say that, since Ichigo was dead, he had no living brain for the hollow to control? This could be why it demonstrated all of the characteristics of a Vasto Lorde other than intelligence. Since the assumption in the video is that it is more of an undead creature due to the lack of intelligence, I think my idea holds up. If Ichigo were living during the transformation, I think it would have had the same intelligence we see in the actual hollow spirit. Sort of like when the hollow began talking when Ichigo put on the mask.
He wasn't completely dead at the time. More like in an unconscious state. He was berserk because of his Hollow instincts completely taking over his sanity.

After all, the form doesn’t look all that different from “White’s” original form

@@Anhiksi We're not clear on whether or not the shihakusho=reiatsu applies to H2 Ichigo because when Ichigo "died" his reiatsu went to nothing
@@mikecash2384 When H2 fought R2 he had the sleeve left. When he fought Ichigo for FGT in fusion he had the full shihakusho.

Its one of the very few rare anime transformations that still instill slight fear because of what it represents: raw instinct.
Its silhouette alone is gnarly enough to be impressive and make you remember it.
A lot of people say Bleach peaked in the save Rukia arc, I say it peaked during his fight with Uliqueorra. I just finished it and it is unreal how well the studio animated and choreographed those fights. The feel and utter helpless Uliqueorra makes you feel after he transforms not once but during that second stage is unreal

When Ichigo use that power everything within a 50-mile radius realized just how much somebody screwed up
I had the impression that he was operating off of his last conscious thoughts and goals. protecting his friends was part of this, but what it boiled down to was "Defeat Ulquiorra." which is why even when Uryu approached him, he didn't lash out until after he (Unknowingly) tried to stop him from finishing off Ulquiorra.

I LOVE that kubo use of Hair length as a power indicator. Taking it from the story of Samson whose powers were his hair. And once cut he isnt strong. This is reflected by breaking a horn to cut the power down. And loved the blacken eyes becoming brighter during attacks
Ichigo is a very special person.
He is a combined Visard...Quincy...and Shinigami.
So he has access to so many different powers that you never know what he is doing.

"I will protect you" -- I never thought that would be Hollow Ichigo... but holy smokes if it was -- that's absolutely fascinating.

another foreshadowing was when he called his sword to him basically the hollow using his own ability to do that. Im not aware of any other shinigami that is able to calll for his/her zanpakto
That was just an ability that Ichigo's bankai has. The Chain is connected to Ichigo's reiatsu so he's able to call his sword back to him.
that form is explained in detail during the thousand year blood war arc.
I am a little surprised no one acknowledged the fact Ichigo hollows powers, whenever they took full control, visibly show the progression in strength via the class/ranks of hollows shown in Hitsugaya's explanation in this video here.
