- This piece was written for Wu Man, and was co-commissioned by Sydney Symphony Orchestra, NCPA and other US orchestras. This video was an Asia premier with NCPA Orchestra in Beijing, 4-25-2014. World premiered by Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Sydney Opera House, Oct, 2013. 吴蛮与中国国家大剧院管弦乐团（NCPA）陈佐湟指挥 2014年亚洲首演赵季平“第二琵琶协奏曲”，地点北京国家大剧院。这首协奏曲是在吴蛮的推动下由悉尼交响乐团，NCPA乐团和美国多家乐团联合委约赵季平为吴蛮量身定做。世界首演于2013年10月悉尼歌剧院。

The whole sequence from 5:20 to 7:00 moved me to tears. The way Wu Man passes the baton to the violins, then we hear the cellos return with that angelic melody, and finally the big cinematic orchestral moment with Wu shredding on top. Wow. That was awesome
I started watching historical Chinese dramas for over a year now. I love the sound of zither. I am now watching the Dream of Splendor where a girl was a pipa player. I love the sound of it. I don’t play the guitar but I love Chinese string instruments. I’m going to follow you. Although the orchestra enhanced the sound of the Pipa, I prefer it as a solo piece. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent to the world.
I went to the concert yesterday, and what a wonderful performance for a wonderful music (despite the pictures, never let the visual distract from the music!)

The NCPA Orchestra is actually the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra. The conductor however was no bloody good - he did not deserve a mention.

Wonderful seascape of Pippa goodness.
I guess it's hard to play pipa along with an orchestra. It doesn't project that well as violins.. Needs quite some balancing. Amazing performance!!! I wish there are more of this kind!

Fantastic! I heard Wu Man performing in this Concerto on the radio last night - Performance Today, so it was also live. Then they played an encore she did, called White Snow in Spring - 3RTPd2oGb5Q.

Excellent performance, but I’m not sure if the choice of clothing was appropriate.
Great piece. but unfortunately terrible sound recording. Pipa was overwhelmed by the orchestra most of the time.
The sound is terribly low force me to leave.
