Excellent review. Short but to the point. I honestly have to agree with a lot of the points made. I think the developers were trying to make their own TellTale sort of game with more music, though the only comparison I’d personally make is the Wolf Among Us. If you’re up for it in the future, I’d totally watch a more spoiler filled review. (SPOILERS) I really liked the romance between Hecate (or Kate) and Asterion/Minotaur. I don’t like the abrupt ending I saw where one person got Grace and Apollo together, but maybe they’re trying to test the waters for a sequel? Who knows. Overall, definitely think this game’s 6/10 rating is more than fair.
Wonderful review!!! Stumbled upon this video as I am thinking about making a stray gods video essay and wanted to see if anyone out there had made anything already. My two big issues with the game are the plot and the music. This game didn’t make me feel like I was a detective trying to solve a murder. A lot of the information I needed just felt handed to me without having to do a whole lot of hard work. The music itself did not really feel like musical music, and the voice actors not being professional vocalists made it worse. A lot of it felt like the actors were just talking rather than singing, with those actually singing having little emotion to their voice. The most memorable moment was when Grace had tears in her eyes, but her voice was just stagnant. This game has a lot of moving parts and so many choices that not all of the songs will be slam dunks, but I would much rather prefer musical actors voicing this game rather than the cast/guests of Critical Role
For the music and voice actors part, I have to respectfully disagree with you. Yes, not all of the voice actors are professional artists like Bruno Mars or Adele, but most of them have performed in other OSTs or shows (i.e., the voice actress for Persephone (i forgot her name unfortunately) sung at least one song from Silent Hill 3-4, Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, Book of Memories, Shadows of the Damed, Kholat, and The Medium.) For example, Troy Baker, the voice of Apollo, collaborated with Austin Wintory for his song "Some Change" back in 2017. Also, he's performed with Ashley Johnson before (the voice of Calliope) and sung a duet with her from The Last of Us.
this is really interesting, you seem to have a relatively lukewarm approval of this game, i really wish i could see your reaction to playing through it to see how that translated it's hard to picture somebody going through some of these songs without being pulled too hard in one direction or the other, you know?

Thank you. Yeah the Hecate plot was one of the hilights. I was going for Apollo but ditched him last minute for Freddie lmao.
