@@Napalbecan you ask your engineer what modification he did to route both a and b on the one output without the foot switch? I would like to do the mod also. I’m quite experienced in modifications.
Absolutely Phranque! It's more then having 2 Elka Rhapsody 610 in one...it has lot of more modulations options, indipendent bass section..phaser, rotary, chorus fx for each section..all mixables indipendently with incredible wide sonic combinations..a must have🤩
I agree totally with you Ulf...The Elka Twin 61 can be a spaceship for sonic intergalactic trip but also a luxury car...suitable from ambient music to italo disco/funky moods
Thank you Peter! these italian vintage synths are so inspiring! lucky to born in the Marche region where in the 70' there were main factories of these amaxing instruments: Siel, Elka, Farfisa, Crumar ecc
@@Napalbe That’s super cool that you are from there! It’s unbelievable how many great instruments where made in Italy in that period! Yes, I really like the synth-stringers from this era as well. There is a beautiful simplicity to them, a knob per function, and a very useful limitation of features, which is truly underrated sometimes. I play the Roland RS505 paraphonic for instance in one off my jazz projects, love that one to bits, same vibe. Funny enough I actually just finished restoring a Crumar DS2 today I’ve had in my workshop for too long, been playing it this afternoon. Omg It’s incredible. Can’t wait to do a video of it. Feel free to check my channel as well, lot of obscure keyboards and strange inventions ❤
Just got myself one (grey model) thanks to this video! I also have Siel Orchestra 2 and Farfisa Syntorchestra (I would love to see a demo made by you with Farfisa Syntorchestra!). Very different beasts but they are all very versatile when comparing to other divide-down string synthesizers. Siel can sound soft and piercing while Elka is always quite sweet with awesome deep bass. Mixing 2 sections with 49 note polyphony is crazy! It makes it so much more versatile than "just" 14 presets make you think. A beast! Also the keybed is one of the nicest I've tried. Very fun to play. Unfortunately phaser in mine doesnt work - it goes silent when switching it on. I suspect CEM3320 is bad, trying to fix it. But even without phaser Elkatwin sounds amazing!
Hey mate! happy for having help you to discover this incredible machine! these machines got a soul...and they can inspire many people..enhancing their creativity and creating beauty! we need beauty and art in this world..and these tools by Elka, Siel, Farfisa and so on can help us to built new sounds despite the already heard machines from the same era (Roland, korg , yamaha ecc)... it s a shame...you have to fix the phaser absolutely..the Elka Twin is a rare beast..it sounds wonderful also whitout it but with it you can reach sonic paradises... I love the Farfisa Synthorchestra ..maybe soon i ll make a demo video of it..stay tuned cheers A you have to fix the phaser
I managed to fix the phaser completely with a new CEM3320 chip. Sounds fantastic now! So tip for other people having the same issue: if enabling phaser causes sound to disappear (but rotary effect still lets sound through with no effect), then it's possible you need to replace the CEM chip. There is a reissue chips available (Tonk), they work fine.
Yeah Kevin! totally agree...lush sound and the widest sonic palette of string synthesizers! it would be great also a midi implementation like the "Organ donator" by Tubbutec!
@@revup67I know...tested also..but not impressive for me.. if you ve played the original 🙃 the Vst lacks the bass and can t emulate de fluttering and randoming movement of the strings sounds...(it sounds too flat and predictable)
@@Napalbe thanks for this input. No issues on the bass on this end - rock solid (though don't have the original to compare), sonically pleasing through a pro set of studio monitors. Have you worked any of the presets to achieve your sound (not only within the Elka-X interface but also through your DAW) . With Studio One as an example you can select Staccato, Legato and many others on MIDI notes. Also, Dan is the CTO at Cherry. If you send them a note expressing your concerns they may actually review. They do have an Elka in their office. Your input may be of great value.
This is great. I wonder if the size is similar to my SK20, to use its case if I get one. I am thinking in selling it to get this one. I can’t maintain both, but this one seems to do more. It is a great instrument!
Hi Ricardo i had the Sk20...but yes the Elka despite having a widest sonic palette..it sounds amazing and unique. sk20 has common sonic palette and you can find good vst can emulate it..so me too decided long time ago to sell it..no regrets at all... size is even a little smaller then sk20..around 3 cm if i remember well
be careful..try to find one in very good conditions and above all serviced...cause there are very hard to find chips inside it..if something is not tested well..these chips can fail after long use...and they are almost unfindable nowdays or lot expensive...
Ok thanks for the advice! It is crazy that yours is the only good available demo available. Thanks for showing it, without your demo, there is practically no available info.

Another Elka owner here! I haven't tried SK20 but I had SK15 and Elka sounds so much fuller and richer. No comparison. Totally amazing! Sound is even richer (but different) than Logan String Melody 2 which I also have. You can combine A and B with strings and detune + BBD chorus for absolutely huge wall of sound. Other preset sounds are also great, I particularly like organs and guitar preset. They all give different flavour and are very well voiced. It's very well thought out machine with endless sound possibilities... And the keybed is absolutely great. Well made machine! I also got mine after watching this video. It sounds every bit as amazing as here - you won't regret it! Reliability: Originally the phaser wasn't working in mine but I managed to fix it by replacing CEM3320 chip that is used here to generate the effect. Luckily that's a chip you can get pretty easily.
It sounds like this...just a little reverb or delay on some patches... The Elka Twin is a unique sounding synthesizer...widest sonic palette of ever among string synthesizers
@@Napalbe The meaning of the word "video" in latin is "see" when it's a verb and "spectacle" when it's a noun.
