Way back in the early 70's one of my classmates played drums, when in Detroit 30 miles south of us he worked with Bob Seger and got him and his band to do a concert at our high school gym, also saw him at a bar concert in college 1974. Didn't know how lucky I was at the time! 😮❤Gary
Love this song. The Southern Cross is a constellation you can only see in the Southern hemisphere. I had this song playing in my head when seeing it from a deck off the coast of Australia back in 2015.
Bill Payne (Little Feat) played piano on this song when it was recorded. The song is a cover, written by Rodney Crowell. Other piano players for Bob Segar included Craig Frost, Paul Harris and Bob Segar himself. When BS unveiled his 3-member band in Detroit back in 1961(They were called The Decibels) BS played guitar, piano, keyboards and, of course, vocals. I got to see this icon during his farewell tour in 2019 in Virginia Beach......... one of the best shows I have ever seen. I never realized this artist had soooooo many hits. He hit the stage, everybody stood up and never sat down until BS left the stage. A memorable night when BS paid homage to many artist now gone with pictures of them on the back drop........... just a warm, humble, talented musician who gave us everything he had!
And some really early Bob, such as Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Heavy Music, Tales of Lucy Blue, Beautiful Loser, Get Out of Denver, Back In '72, Lookin' Back, and many great covers like If I Were a Carpenter, I've Been Workin'. Too many to name. A fantastic source is Bob's Live Bullet album. Also, Bob Seger is a very approachable man and I wouldn't be surprised if he appeared on your "Creators" series.
One of my, if not my favorite, Bob Seger songs. You can't get more american than Bob Seger. The piano, the telling of how a man feels, and putting the blame on something like the moon. Well crafted song.
This is my absolute favorite Seger song, for it's performance and tone. So world weary, wise, and comforting. Oh, and it's also a cover. Lonely Bob usually writes his own music, and when he covers something, it's special. Thanks, I always enjoy you.
I can’t go camping without bob playing somewhere and sometime in the night. Bobs voice will always echo throughout the deep woods in the night within my mind. This is what I grew up with as a kid. Bob will always be in my top 3
I hear songs every day on this channel that I know and love to some degree. And sometimes hearing one makes me want to go listen to another by that artist that I haven't heard in a while. But whenever I hear the non-uptempo Bob Seger, I always want to go get those 1976-1980 albums out and just start listening to all the hits. He truly has a sound all his own. I'd give another Seger suggestion, but this is the one I made here two years ago and I don't have two more years to live...
Even though I usually love his rocking side more, this has always been one of my favorite songs of his. My mom was a HUGE Bob Seger fan and his music always reminds me of her. Now if y'all can get him to come on your channel, that would be amazing. I can't even imagine the stories he has to tell. Oh - and for another softer side, you had reacted to Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton doing "We've Got Tonight" some time back. That's actually a Bob Seger song and he performed it originally. Talk about some gorgeous piano.

So heartwarming to see this masterpiece finally reacted to. Written by one of Texas greatest songwriter’s Rodney Crowell! Also, along with Shame…Fire Lake has some of his buddies from the Eagles supporting the background vocals.
Always loved this song written by Rodney Crowell. Night Moves is one of Bob Seger’s best, hope it finds you. Studio version is much better than “ official “ cut up version
Hearing this breaks my heart and makes me smile at the same time. Heart breaks for all the time that has passed....smile is from the memories. Takes me back to that time when I was a teenage girl...coming into my own....and how great it was to do it in the 80's.
Bob Seger is my favorite musician. His main instrument is the piano. When he started out attempting to be a professional musician he actually gave up and quit, but then a couple of his songs rose in the charts which encouraged him to press on and it reignited his career. This is one of his coolest songs, and it actually crossed over to country. It was the #2 song of 1982 on the country chart.
Rodney Crowell wrote it, so ...
Yes, yes he did.@@rmacdougallaliasdogviticus
Yeah your correct I was just a kid when this came out and remember hearing it on the Country and the rock stations back in the day
Bob Seger is a great storyteller. Love all his music.
My thoughts exactly.
'Once inside a woman's heart, a man must keep his head'!.....early life lesson!
Preach
And Heaven opens up the door, where angels fear to tread!
One of Seger’s more underrated songs.
He really had the voice of an angel.
I would assume he still does.
I dont know how a song that peaked at #2 for a month on the charts would be considered underrated. It's his second biggest hit.
He's still alive and singing, you know.

Bob Seger called this his “cowboy” song. So true. It’s like he’s sitting around a campfire 🔥. Pure fire 🔥
It's likely due to its rhythm and instrumentation. It easily fits the Country genre. What really sells it is the Floyd Cramer styled piano.
I always joked that it was the Brokeback Mountain song. ("until you're inside a man") 🤣
Firelake is sort of like this it's got the Country feel and awesome
With Both their eyes closed they both smiled at the same time when that piano hit..The greatness of Bob Seger !
