  • Welcome to this week’s video where I will be reviewing and trying this beautiful set of Gansi Watercolours by Choosing Keeping. The set is inspired by the colours of autumn. I’m really glad I finally got to sit down and try this paint set after waiting so long and I am impressed with the results. I wanted to document my thoughts and show you guys this set for those of you who were curious and wanted to try them.
    To give them a good try I decided to paint some mushrooms as I thought the colours would be perfect.
    Thanks again for watching and all the support and feel free to suggest anything you would like to ser me try in the future

    I have always found it difficult to find watercolor artist’s on TH-cam that are not the ‘typical’ compositions. However, ever since I have subscribed to you I feel like you are what I have been looking for. Every piece is so beautiful and I admire your style! Very beautiful! You inspire me every time I watch a video. ❤

    This would be perfect for a children book. All the small details and the way you create the light, just make it looks like it's a magical forest to explore in search for adventure! :D

    very beautiful! I've noticed the shine in my Kuretake paints when I load them quite opaquely. Good to know the Choosing Keeping gansai don't! It's a great option for when I want to work more opaque

    I've used kuretaki for several years and I've never noticed any tackiness. There is a trace of shine, but I actually like it in some situations. This has been a very helpful video

    Your paintings are so beautiful, and inspiring. Thank you for sharing them. I agree with one of the other commenters that this one looks like it would be perfect for a children's book.
    And, some hopefully useful information: I'm pretty sure that Choosing Keeping's curated gansai sets come from a Japanese paint maker called Kissho, whose whole line of paints is lovely. I especially like the sumi-e set (I think it's called the Darkness and Light set on CK's website), which is pigment mixed with Japanese ink for a gorgeous muted effect.
    If ever you get a chance to try them, I hope you'll make a video about it! Thanks again for sharing your art.

    Yeah, I’ve found the Kuretake paints are pretty shiny when dry, but otherwise I really enjoy them. It feels slightly more forgiving than regular watercolors since it is a bit more opaque.

    This is stunningly beautiful! Can I please ask you to create a video where you explain how you do the negative painting you're doing in this piece? I would really, really appreciate it! Thanks :)

    Love all the final details. Are the highlights on the leaves and grass the white gouache? Or the gansai watercolor?

      Thank you so much. They are a bit of both. They mix together really well with gouache and the set doesn't come with a white, so I just used my gouache. 😊

    The colors selection look adorable! But one thing I’ve always disliked about those kind of Japanese paints is the disorganized way they have in sorting colors. Why do they always put them in casual order? But besides that they seems pretty nice and your painting is lovely!

    • @tromkalixon6933
      @tromkalixon6933 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How you organise colors can give a totally different impression. I suspect that these sets are designed like this so that the color palette reflects a specific aesthetic vision of the creators.

    • @NikkiDraven
      @NikkiDraven 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tromkalixon6933 it might be! But it would confuse me a lot when painting, I’d buy colors for painting not for making pretty pictures or to display them on a shelf, but I get that if you sort them by nuance you loose that aesthetic
