Ikr. When I've tried to do it before the audio always ends up sounding 'boxy' with an ugly reverb from the walls. I can't believe that just a towel tunnel like the one he made will fix that.
To line up the vocals quicker, create a track to record from your laptop mic, mute it so you don't get feedback. Then, when you're ready to record on your phone, clap once before performing. When you import the vocal from your phone, line up the clap with the clap recorded on the laptop and everything will be in time or at least the closest possible.
This was really helpful and made me excited to start recording. I have so many things written that I never showed anyone, probably from fear, but I've always loved creating music since a kid. It's about time I let that energy show.
So I'm a Producer, Singer and a Songwriter. Many Producers told me that i should record my vocals with a mic not with a phone so what i did is i tried to do an investment to buy a mic but after i started using a mic my recording sounds crappy so i tried to do investing again by finding and getting a job but i've failed finding and getting a job because i wasn't accepted in the previous job that i've applied and there's some other jobs that i don't fit in. Finding and getting a job is really hard and again, the reason why i wanna find and get a job just to upgrade my producer equipments and also since you've uploaded this video i think i should not suffer myself getting better producer equipments because i can just use the materials that i currently have which is my pop filter, my closet, my phone, my blanket, my towel and my laptop. i've wrote a song before and i wanna release it so bad because i love the fanbase that i've currently have which btw i'm still trying to attempt growing my fanbase. Thank you so much for uploading this video because you just ended my suffering in my producer life. I'm currently a College student and i think after college I'm gonna go get a job, find and get a better producer equipments. I really wanted to be a successful Singer, Songwriter and a producer someday and also yeah... be a successful international big music artist because that's my wish since when i was 12 yrs. old.
So the fact of the matter is to get better recording equipment you need to have money, to have money you need to find a job which will take time and when you find a job then you still have to work for a couple months until you have the money to buy studio equipment. Which means if you sit around and wait for all these things to happen you'll be sitting around for at least 3-6 months by the time you save up money to buy new equipment. So you're sacrificing time you could be working and perfecting your craft and sound, you can just use what you have now and get started and get better equipment later. Either way the better equipment won't do shit unless you know how to use it correctly and most people don't think about that part either.
Learn to make songs with whatever tools you have RIGHT NOW. Everyone usually wants all the best and newest equipment when they start out. Waste all their time and energy on the belief they need a pro mic or this plug in or that preamp. Then they get the new equipment and realize they still aren't creating the music they hear in their head when they write/produce. So they think now I need this piece of equipment or plug in. Make music with what you have, work on your skill and knowledge before anything else.

I'm going to have to disagree or add to some of your points. If people are giving excuses then they don't really want to do it. It's really that simple. Not just with music but in life in general. The reason you progressed is because you really wanted it. Because if you want to do something really bad you will do whatever it takes to do it. You hit a road block and since you really want to do whatever it is you truly want then you will find any way. That's something that can't be taught. If your broke and you know there's a thousand dollars 10 miles away and you have to walk. Yeah the immediate response is you want it. But half way you kinda doubt yourself and double guessing. Then you unknowingly start to give excuses to why you need to stop and turn around.
I generally agree, but the point of what he says is that creative people don't wanna be technicians. They just want to record the vocals and if it requires doing a research on mic types, audio interfaces, cables, setup, proper room treatment than etc then they lose interest and I understand this excuse. I also used to think that one needs all that stuff to make some amateur vocal recordings but now I know it is not true.
just as a Note, if you use iphone and macbook, you can just sync your memos app to icloud and you will be able to access the memos from within any of your Apple devices devices. No need to send it by email

I uses GarageBand and I try how you uses the towels and my vocals were much harder 🔥 thxs man 🙏
