This popped up in my TH-cam feed. This being 32 years ago 😳 - wonder where all these characters are today. Strange to hear Fangio name called out, when Fangio 1 raced in the 1950's. What ancestry 🏆👍✌️ A lot of good racers here 🏁
I was at this race. Wow.. To clarify the "artificial race course", it was the Fairgrounds parking lot/access roads around the convention center. They just put up the walls and configured it cleverly to make a racetrack. I remember there being so much promo swag in the pits back then. Hats. Coozies. All kinds of shit.
All of it worth a small forturne today. Ironic isn't it? Very cool. I wasn't even alive yet, born 1994. This video is all I have of the experience. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
Its hard to believe that Ken Squire worked on ESPN (also did some TNN stuff). Only known him to do CBS and TBS at the end of his regular broadcasting career
I guess Pruett's feet were healed up enough at that point from that terrible accident during IndyCar testing at West Palm Beach that he could do that intro walking with Squire.
Anybody in the Tampa area today, that went to this event, I'd love to buy you a round for a documentary I'm doing! Just respond to this comment and I can get back to you ASAP.

Nice detail on keeping the Goodyear-Mercedes add.
That really was a nice add/ad.

Love Gr. C and IMSA
This was one of my first Sportcar race.
Me too!
how bad was the rain
That I couldn't tell you. I was only 4 years old when I went to this race. lol
Pretty bad soaked to the bone. But it was a valuable lesson, never again did we go to a race unprepared for rain.
I love him describing the pit crew members injury as "a slightly broken right leg".
Interesting to hear him to describe it as a "job to do." Don't think that slogan would fly in today's world.

How many times did they race here
3
1988, 1989, 1990
Why is the quality of the camera so bad, I saw plenty of motorsport footage from the early 90s and they arent that bad
Of COURSE it ended under caution in a rain storm...because Florida!
SCOTT MULLET!

公道でレースするなんてアメリカらしいですね☺️
Monaco? Le Mans? This is of course assuming Google translate is correct...
