A lot of people who slag off Joe Talbot like to talk about class when they actually just don't like to have their prejudices challenged. Conflating being working class with being poorly educated and narrow minded is one of the most Tory things I can think of.
And being a privileged member of the bourgeoisie , and acting working class whilst spouting off puerile Marxist slogans, is one of the most leftwing things i can think of.

Joe is so right. Empathy and love is a LOT harder than spite and hatred..... and more powerful.

in other words its easier to lay down and convince yourself that doing nothing and standing for nothing is compassionate and virtuous rather than to stand up against things you dont believe in

When someone wants to be a good person, they say things that a good person would say. When you hear someone say things that a good person would say and consider that disingenuous or pandering it’s because you don’t understand how a good person thinks, most likely because you’re not a good person.

I didn't realize that Newport south wales one of the deprived areas of the UK (where Joe is originally from) makes him a toff. Like myself people from newport try to get out.

This guy's freaking nauseating. It's like if Russel Brand thought he could be Joe Strummer. He's crafted an entire musical existence off of making Steve Lamacq feel a bit young again and compiling unfocused left-pandering vaguenesses. I wish people would footnote the whole supposed class thing, though, and actually bring Idles' music into account, because it's so derivative and pseudo-punk that it's actually depressing to hear.
Ok. Just a footnote though. Joe Strummer was middle class and achieved fame and glory off the back of punk when it really was a working-class genre. I hope you apply the same kind of class-conscious scrutiny to The Clash as you do to IDLES.
@@dylan8131 My point was that I hope people focus less on the class thing (which seems to have found its way to the centre of conversation concerning them) and more on how opaquely derivative the music is, in a way that's not really in the original spirit of 'punk'. I brought up Strummer as, sound-wise, that's who he reminds of most. I was always more of a Pistols fan anyway.
