You can tell you didnt really follow DET this year. Sprong was healthy scratched towards the end of the year because he was so bad defensively. There's a reason he got less than a million and is on his 3rd team in 3 years.
Sprong is on his 3rd team in 3 years because some teams don’t want to have to micro manage their bottom 6. He gets passed around essentially out of organizational laziness not because he’s a bad player. Sprong isn’t good defensively but he certainly isn’t the only player with defensive issues on this team, however he 100% would help them improve their transition game and that will be the weakest area for the wings this year.
Edvinsson played 16 games last year. Based on my grading system he shouldn’t have got a grade at all because he’s under the 30 game minimum. But he was impressive enough in that small sample size to get a grade. They are not predicting future play the grades are purely based off what they’ve done so far in the NHL
@@NBIHockey Then you missed that Bergren had 28 points 2 years ago playing 67 games had 15 goals and 13 assists he was on pace playing 82 games for 35 points . I guess you didn't reaserch it enough . I'l bet you a $ hundred that if he makes the team he will do better than Sprong ever did in any team !
If you actually think Berggren is going to play above a .70 point a game pace over the course of let’s say 60+ games next season than there shouldn’t even be an “if he make the team” lol

very uninformed and poorly thought out "deep dive" . So many things they're wrong about on here and things they missed in their decision-making of the this episode. Certainly dont think the wings are going to be amazing but not as bad as is said here. Perfect example of how uninformed this is....Wings couldnt just go out and get markstrom and ride on him and Talbot. There are contracts they are on the hook for with lyon and Husso that make that way too hard. Especially Husso whos contract is pretty much unmovable at this point. And where some would like to blame Yzerman for that contract, dont forget how when they signed Husso, so many thought that was a great move. Hindsight is 20/20 and sadly many of those people are now blaming Yzerman for what they are now calling a bad signing. More examples of some of their signings were when there were very limited players available for the hole they needed to fill. Im pretty sure Yzerman is mostly filling holes while prospects come up slowly 17:52
The analytics community pretty much unanimously hated the Husso signing and the fact OTT was able to dump the Korp contract (who’s a worse goalie on a worse deal) proves the Husso deal is very much movable. As for the other free agent signings, the point is that they went and spent too much too soon. The team wasn’t ready to compete at that point and they tried to rush the process before a lot of their prospects were up, which ended up leading to them losing someone like Walman for nothing.

He played 12 games last year lol. Spent most of the season in the AHL. Thats the literal definition of an ok 4th liner.
