EMANZINI Storytelling for Change

Viva con Agua South Africa inspires change through storytelling alongside Sunshine Cinema and Mobile Cinema Africa as part of its new social impact platform #Emanzini.
The screening of "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" allowed for a compelling conversation about the social responsibility our creators bear in their attempt to share stories authentically.
Our speakers dutifully unpacked empowerment, education, and empathy as we use the power of storytelling to drive positive change in our community.
As an NGO, the narrative plays such an imperative role, often serving the disadvantaged and impoverished. The questions we ask are ongoing. How do we best champion the triumphs and protect integrity? Where do we draw the line between sensitivity and awareness? We would like to engage with more storytellers on the subject matter while providing a platform in the near future to screen independent films that shine a light on our homegrown stories and local heroes.
