- I finally finished this peculiar model kit by IMEX. It started great but quickly spiraled downhill!! Well it actually wasn't too bad just a bit different. Thanks to Billy Bayer for sending it to me to build!

Beautiful build, really sharp 👌 👏 👍 😎
My dad always said a Cadillac without white walls is a Cadillac with Tennis Shoes! Beautiful car anyways! Nice job man! 🤔😝🫡🇺🇸
Thanks Kevin!!
Matt that car looks great.
Thanks Todd!!
Nice looking chrome and paint too!!
Awesome build. Thanks for sharing Matt! 😎🇨🇦
Very nice work my friend.
Looks great.
Way freakin cool!!! That paint completely makes it!! The chrome looks sharp with the gold paint!! Another top notch build!!!!
Thanks my brother!!
You did an Excellent job on your Caddy Matt!!!! Love the gold on red!!! Nice Work!!!!!

That really looks great. Your skills are coming right along!
The interior looks great so far!!
Puttin' on the Biarritz
Thank you! What a thing of beauty,I want a real one. Great job!
: ) JC
Nice build. Here is a simple solution to the license plate problem. Take a license plate decal from some other kit, cut it out, glue it in place with the paper backing still in place, don't put it in the water, the backing paper/ dry decal, will hide the molded in year quite nicely.
Great idea!! Thanks
@@modelcarvideos5829 You're welcome, this was something that I had read in an instruction sheet, I believe, about 50 or so years ago. For use on instrument panel guages, along with a dab of Elmer's glue on top, to simulate the glass over the guage. Works for license plate applications as well. Doesn't need the Elmer's glue over it in this application. Test a clear overcoat on a scrap decal to see if it would be comparable with the decals to protect them after placing the desired dry decal on the model. I will try the flocking for carpet simulation. I have been experimenting with using thin fabric iron on patches for this, on the two that I have done this on look very good. I use the Echo Flow leather cement to glue this in place. And after it dries, I use a new xacto knife blade to trim the patch along the door/ quarter panel to trim it to look like real carpet. I play with some pretty off the wall ideas! Most work pretty well. When I get the details worked out well enough for other modelers to duplicate, I will send you some photos of how I use brass tubing to fabricate Lake pipes, and ways to attach them to the model. This is being done on two of my 50s style '40 Ford sedan hotrod builds, and thinking about doing it with a '57 Fairlane rod build.
Wow! That turned out great 👍
Thanks!!
She looks beautiful, Matt. I have a 1/32 scale 57 Biarritz die cast. Same gold, but I think the interior is white on mine. I also have a Franklin Mint 59 Biarritz die cast. All metal and it must weigh a pound or two!
Very nice build! Thanks for sharing.
Nice caddy thanks for making a separate video on metal foil means a lot me thanks again keep up the great videos
Thanks Thomas!
Beautiful build. Can't imagine why there aren't more Caddys in styrene.
👍🏻👍🏻
Man the Caddy looks fantastic Matt. Thanks for sharing. Ron
awesome kit..!!!! i would love to tackle that one..!!!
It's a nice kit
It is beautiful!
Now I'm going to build my Heller version after seeing yours. IMO, the model really needs a set of wide whitewall tires. Badly. Yours is a beautiful model. A great paint job and chrome work. Kudos.
The build came out great! After I had done a similar thing (forgot to paint/add something) a couple of times, I started making a punch list @ the beginning of the build. Helps me. Sorry about ur dental opportunities. Hope that gets straightened out soon.
Thanks Johnny!!
Looks good 😊
Great build matt, but really needs those whitewalls me thinks?,I got this kit around 3 years back for about AU$40 from memory, only bidder for it & won,yes I experienced alot of the same problems with the build as you did, including busting the windscreen or windshield clean in half & I changed the rubber tyres out in the end for a set of old Monogram 1/24 scale vinyl tyres, just did the chromework with a Molotow pen in the end, didn't come out too bad, cheers
I agree it whould look good with white walls but still an excellent job mate 👍🇦🇺
Excellent work all around. Wish my eyes and hands worked together better, I'd try one of these Biarritz.
It's gotta have the white walls, though.
👍🏻👍🏻
First let me say, I love your vids. I have two of those kits and I havent built them yet ( because of the gap in the hood ) seeing your finished car, the gap seems do-able. You did a great job on this kit. Thanks............Dennis
Thanks Dennis!
Awesome build buddy
Fantastic build Matt. Love it.
Nice build Matt vary cool looks outstanding
An absolutely gorgeous build!!
Very nice build. Love the interior, and chrome trip. Hate you forgot the whitewalls, oh well things happen. That turned out to be an excellent model. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael!!
If you want to try another glue when setting chassis on, try beacon craft glue. Its nice sometimes even to glue tires / wheels together.
Nice Job man im a big fan of the monogram 59 it’s also the first tooled model made by them in 1/25
That's cool!!
Beautiful color, beautiful builds Matt. I still have one of these on my stash. As a builder myself I knew even before I bought this kit that IMEX kits tend to have quality issues. Right after I bought my Caddy kit the prices on these just doubled. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Chris!!
Hey Matthew I have a IMAX Harley-Davidson Sportster kit like that I have started it and put it away over a year ago a friend of mine showed me a couple of IMAX motorcycle builds on TH-cam and they do make beautiful models when they're done but they might drive you a little crazy getting there LoL great job and thanks for sharing
The Caddy looks awesome. I have never built a convertible because the interior would need to be top notch and my skills just aren't there yet but you did a wonderful job!!
Very nice build man. For the white walls, why not use some custom made decals even though the car is assembled😊
I used Mercury whit walls found on E-BAY . There are decal on white walls . Maybe you can
find them and put them on later. Otherwise the Caddy looks great . No room under the hood
for the battery or wires.
YEAH 👍 👍 LOVE 💘 THAT GOLD 👌 PLEASE NO PRINTS WHITE 🙏 WALLS PLEASE 10-4 O.G.CALIFORNIA BACK QUIET!"
You did a great job on a not so great kit. Love your color choices & the paint job came out sweet. I get what you said about all of the push pin marks on the windshield frame. I think that they are needed or the frame might break when being released from the mold. I built the hard top version of this kit back in the 90's. I do not recall the issue you spoke of about the wheel/tire assembly. I know that these were large cars but I feel that these kits are just a tad larger in scale than the 1:24 scale listed on the kit box. Your build came out really well. Have a good weekend.
I've never seen a ugly caddy! Some that were questionable but not completely ugly.. That one is really nice, Great job Man.😎👍
Thanks!!
Man a lot of car kits on those walls LOL I want just a third can you make that happen LOL looking good really the car is looking so sweet and as always I enjoy your videos. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
think I would like to do one as well LOL.
Oh yeah Mark over there has a kit I want I'm not naming it so maybe it will stick around long enough for me to talk my wife into it LOL
I have the hard top of the same kit I’ll post soon to FB group
Cool!!
For the axels I use micro hardware . You can get them at ACE hardware.
Beautiful build Matthew, now I'm not sure if I want to Finnish mine 'cause it will never look half as good as yours 😂 well on the other hand it's not a competition it's all about having fun
Love it! I am building this kit at the moment in Tamiya Pearl Light Red (Pearl pink) - Would love to know where you got the boot cover for the convertible top that sits behind the rear seat. The kit didn't come with it & looks weird without it
6:25pm just tuned in. Did you polish the top of the dash? It looks like it. Looks cool regardless.
I would imagine you could put the white walls in pretty easily though...
I use a white paint pen
Nice Build Matthew! Did that kit come with a up top? After watching the video, the blackwall tires reminded me of child hood memories. My Dad had a friend who owned a used car lot in G.R. He sold nice cars with decent tires, but he would buy the cheapest tires (usually retreads) usually without whitewalls! Not making fun of you but reminded me of some beautiful cars leaving that lot with cheap, blackwall retreads! LOL.
Nice build. This kit is on my radar. How did you accomplish detailing the trunk and hood emblem?
Take a piece of Of Evergreen strip, paint it black, and line the engine compartment with it,
That way you can ditch the hinges
👍🏻👍🏻
Do you know of a. Molded in body color of. 'Red Thur out the whole kit on a. '57-Caddliac. I heard it was not a good kit 2 get. SIGINED. (' Albert Herrera.)
Nothing comes to mind.
Do you know where I can get a Tucker Torpedo model that I can build??
Which Modge Podge do you use?
It's the blue one.
I hated that kit; the wheel/tire assembly was so weird I ended up screwing it up completely.
That kit is just begging for some wide whites!
Seems to me I mentioned the problems with the windshield! Must not have read it on your last video! Oh well! You are a busy guy!🤔😝🫡
You did! I was hoping you were wrong! Lol
