This song appeared when I first moved to NYC to pursue my architecture career. At the time, I took advantage of an opportunity, but left the grandma I was taking care of behind in my home town (both my parents were dead many years before then). We communicated primarily through letters like this. Just months before landing my dream job and marrying my husband, she passed away. I loved her very much and despite the fact that I felt she was my last living connection to my childhood, I still like to believe the dreams I am pursuing are in her care. This song reminds me of how excited I was to move to NYC, while at the same time reminds me of the bittersweetness of those years. Fascinating to see this so clearly reflected in this song.
I wish I found this 10 years ago when my mum pass to the world where we can not see them until it’s time again. NYC was my stomping ground as a kid growing up in Connecticut we jumped on the train to get away from life. Thank You ❤️ Washington Square I’m racing there.
Perfect song for a son who still lives with his mother. I need to be more patience and kind as she did on me.. Man, thank you for remind me you're a true singer n' compositor!
For anyone who has ever had to balance the love of family and place of origin with the need to break away to expand and transform...this guy's got a few words. And a great beat. Bravo, Rod Thomas, for so beautifully expressing what is often unexpressable.
Always will love this track ! You are special Rod ! I lost my mother to mental illness when I was almost 12 years old .Mom's say they never get over loosing a child---- this is true--- but a adolescent never gets over the loss of his mommy ! Thank you Mr. Thomas !
there's nothing like bright light bright light in pop scene nowadays. every little song is just amazing. and the lyrics, oh god. please, man, keep making your amazing music.
I just adore this man. I discovered BLx2 last week and have listened to nothing else since. Excellent singer, songwriter, cute as hell. Pitch perfect in every sense.
Saw Bright Light Bright Light opening the concert in Aberdeen 20th June, hadn't heard of them before this, thought they were brilliant, been playing their music at home, loving them even more, I'm sure we'll see a lot more of them in the future.
working in the remote place, outside home and far away really makes me feel this song. How often am i forget to tell my parent about my condition and act like they don't worry or thinking of me at all. in the end, no matter how big i have grown, i am just a little boy. Thank you for such a beautiful song, Rod. i really fancy this song.
Heard him on Gaydar once. Can t take his music outta my mind now. Simple, pure, beautiful. Real talent . Like Paloma Faith, the road might be unfortunately long but he has some things a few has: Passion, talent and charisma. Wish I was still living in London to make portraits of him...
I like his songs pretty much but theres a lot of clips that only focus on him, I wish there could be much more narrative video. But it doesnt change the respect I got for him (maybe I should listen to his songs without watching) ^^"
I lost my wife last year,2023, this touchy song makes me strong to carry that lost❤. God bless
ROD u made me hace tears with this song.....
Very beautiful song. Sound is vaguely reminiscent of Pet Shop Boys to me (that's a good thing). Very touching and emotional. Bravo!
