I think "Woke" has become the most misused and misunderstood word of the century especially by members of Congress. Definition - Woke is a word that originated in the African American culture and means "Alert to and concerned about social injustice and discrimination." So what does it say about people who say they want to get rid of Woke? That they don't care how people are treated and they want to become bigots????

@@blackout07blue If the discussion right now was an honest, good-faith discussion targeting any extreme cases where for some reason kids were getting castrated, and setting ground rules that puts that off limits, then I wouldn't have a problem. Right now, conservatives are nut-picking for any fringe cases where this may be happening and using that to spark a moral panic against any gender-affirming care. The fact of the matter is that if there is any castration of minors happening, it's in extremely fringe cases but the conservatives are acting like it's the norm rather than the exception.

That’s true but also not. This countries politics are much more right leaning. That was proven in the 2016 election. Trump lost the popular vote (aka the will of the people) but won the election regardless. And the candidates we have to choose from are ridiculous! Because of the (frankly, from an outsider's perspective like mine, bizarre) Electoral College design, & the extensive (& legalized! By the Supreme Court!) gerrymandering & voter suppression, roll purging, etc., (& legalized bribery of SuperPACs), it's somewhat amazing you get any progressives elected at all.

The problem is that it’s true that sometimes a child needs genital surgery for MEDICAL reasons. The friend of one of my siblings had to undergo such surgery when he was 6 or 7 year-old. It had nothing to do with sex reassignment, but you can bet these morons conflate the 2.

He's got a full set of teeth he puts in a glass at night, a 6th grade education (he says he done larnt all he needed by then), and he owns a Rolex that he bought in Mexico for $5.
He also owns several caps, including magat ones and one that says "Vietnam Vet". The dude is only 65.
On March 29, 1973 the last U.S. combat troops left South Vietnam, ending direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War. That was 50 years ago, so he was only 15 when the last of the troops _left_ Vietnam.
When I told him this, he stammered a bit, then said he lied about his age so he could do his "patriotic duty" and joined the Army at age 12.
I've noticed that he likes to wear his "Vietnam Vet" hat when he goes to restaurants that give discounts to veterans. These "patriots" have no problem with stealing valor, but have no respect at all for LGBTQ and POC who gave their lives or became disabled because of their service to the US military.

I think I first heard the term “woke” in the ‘90s. Meaning to be awake/aware of what is going on around us. Interesting how these folks changed the original meaning.
The woke people changed the meaning when they decided that the definition of a woman was unknowable.

The real lesson here is that you have no authority or obligation to define any other Human Being besides yourself. It doesn’t seem that Conservatives understand that. I am quite at peace with myself as the male that I was born as. But it’s a completely personal matter, and my gender, natural or otherwise, is not subject to someone else’s approval or permission. We have many people who show Lousy self-control, yet they think they should have the right to dictate to, and control others. Probably so they can feel comfortable about themselves. Is Conservatism just another word for Insecurity? Get over it, people. Nobody’s going to turn you gay. Or Black or Brown. Or liberal.
