    so i was almost set on picking up the tarantula pro after your review. I have used Rainbow 2 SE from bigbig won for about 7 months now pretty much daily, and sticks did develop about 1.5 percent of drift (the right one, with left pretty much unchanged), BUT those potentiometer sticks (at least for me) did feel much more responsive than hall effects of v3p and t4k. Also i did really like T4K, but A button did develop double click in relative short time (about a month), but the bigger problem for me was the fact that t4k used 2pin mouse switches, which are uncommon, while blitz 2 im pretty sure just uses standart 3pin ones. I loved my time with Rainbow 2 SE, but i do kinda miss having mechanical face buttons, and REALLY miss mouse click triggers from vader. This looks like a great controller for me

      That's where my frustration came from. I would tend to say that TMR felt on-par to ALPS but it's like a baton was nudge into my wheel just as I was about to clock in the time to confirm that information. With that said, if they are not the same, they are much much MUCH closer than Hall-effect and ALPS ever was, if that's anything to go by. If you ever laid hands on the Kaleid for Xbox, or G7 HE both from GameSir? The face buttons from the Blitz2 feel identical.

    7:28 That is the key with the TMR sticks you have to tweek the curve. Once that is done, the sticks are phenomenally quick and precise. Did that for my tarantula pro.
    I did the same with my Apex 4, even though it does not have TMR sticks, they do have 10 bit resolution, even the vader 4 pro has 12 bit resolution, after the tweeking it, it is now phenomenal as well.

    thx for the review, I asked you once before to review this controller because there was basically zero reviews , and now i am totally sold and ordered the TMR version , i know the triggers aren't analog but that's why i have other controllers , and most games actually do not take advantege of the analog triggers . i have the EasySMX x20 and the Flydigi Vader 4 pro and they are really good i like them a lot .
    the Gyro assisted aiming that is new for me , i always thought those are just gemmick ! but seeing you break your score that , that is some revolotionary tech , i think the high polling rate might be a part of it too . i kow the gyro has only 1000Hz but the total bandwidth rated to 2000Hz witch is double of the best before this tech.
    I was exited to see what the new tech can do , i was expecting it to see some improvement , since on paper it does have more , but i didn't expect it to translate to that much better performance on the score tests , i know you said that you have a perfect setup now and we shouldn't compare this to the old score , but you kinda did it yourself and compared your score and considered it a record for you lol.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      For the non-gyro, I was definitely in an optimal setup, but with added gyro, I hardly did any tests on video (but many off-screen) and those were made with optimal setup as well. That new record definitely was a good chunk beyond anything prior, approximately 8k more to put things in perspective.
      I always tried gyro on and off ever since Uncharted 2 I think? It had gyro aiming and I was surprised then just how viable that it could be but the issue has been implementing the tech, it's not easy to find that perfect balance of responsiveness and no one does it as good as BIGBIG WON except VR which has gyro on a whole other level too.

    • @MonderMatrix
      @MonderMatrix หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GameTechTalk I did try playing with gyro in the past on the PS4 or 3 i don't remember but it's my first time on your video to see it beat the normal aiming with sticks , and if i am not wrong, you were aiming with the sicks and correcting with the gyro to aim faster. In some video if am not wrong it can be set on some controllers to get the gyro to work only when pressing the left trigger and get it to work in any game .
      About the ALPS vs TMR , if we think about it, the potential meter should have always the lowest latency because it's just a closed loop on variable resistance , in terms of accuracy the TMR is advertised to have times better accuracy.
      There's a newly added data on Gamepadla for both of these bigbigwon controllers and the ALPS model seems extremely optimized with 2.42 ms on the stick input. The TMR version has only the button latency results with 4.81 on xinput wired , and 1250 stick positions. Now i know the data might not be super accurate but it's what we have.
      The new Gamesir cyclone 2 has TMR and is showing impressive results.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MonderMatrix With my 38k score, I would say 90% of my aiming was achieved with gyro and little nudges with the sticks. You are correct about being able to have gyro be on exclusively when holding a button, that's a feature one can activate. GameSir and TMR has been my best experience yet, with that said, I think 2.4ms latency to not be enough to warrant a loss in performance but rather a slight adjustment if someone spent a thousand hours on 2.42, and then was to move to 4.81.
      I can't blame wanting the better outcome though, I will have to retest the ALPS model in due time!

    The problem with Gyro on ALPS version is that ALPS itself don't have perfect 0 spot , there's always some minor values to left or right side of the sticks and that causes inconsistent gyro movement to one of the side. With hall/tmr sticks you don't have that problem. And this is the MAJOR issues with gyro to joystick setup with alps based controllers (yes YOU Flydigi)

    hey my man, I know I sound like a broken record, always asking the same thing.
    But I've seen both the bibig tmr and tarantula tmr teardown, I've seen that they have joysticks from different brands and now I'm wondering which of the two is the best.
    Besides, the bibig has 2000hz, does that really make much of a difference?

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It's extremely hard to tell because the difference falls within what I would consider as margin of error, or too impacted by external variables such as shape, comfort, etc... Here's how I would put this, I would give the Tarantula a slight edge, here is where I'm confused, I usually prefer asymmetrical for aiming (which Tarantula is not). So it would point to Tarantula feeling better to me, but the difference is so little that despite that, I wonder if it's just that somehow the ergonomics of the Tarantula happened to fit me a bit better? I would have to do three sessions of an hour each of each controller, which I'll probably end up doing over time but I'm cutting it short right now, very busy with that TH-cam journey.

      @@stevensv4864 there is not so much data about the cyclone 2 but in Gamepadla website it's showing impressive latency results , specially for the sticks , the potentiometer tech theoratically it is just a closed loop so in terms of latency it should be the fastest but it has noise and has less accuracy, the hall effect improve the accuracy and inreduce some input lag and should have non linear reading on the position , the TMR has less latency and improve accuracy more than the hall effect . that is why i think higher polling rate should mean even more with higher accuracy if we use for example 12 bit instead of 8 or 9 bit .

      As for the ALPS, I show not a 50th of how much I tried. I tried inverting, tried changing yaw vs roll. Tried adjusting my vertical to horizontal multiplier ratio, tried recalibrating and even re-applying firmware.

Maybe I am developing a bias for the Tarantula but to me, it’s the type of controller that pushes the status quo for the controller market. It’s that one product that can’t even be a trendsetter cause most brands won’t be able to compete with its complexity.
      Phantom is the ultimate PS5 controller for sure and Dualsense is a must have in the arsenal. Whenever Sony’s haptics and adaptive triggers come into play, it’s not debatable so to me, Phantom is probably the controller I wouldn’t want to part with for that reason.

Their software just isn’t up to snuff yet for gyro and I also find I need to recalibrate a little too often for my taste.

The Tarantula Pro is definitely claw-able but it's also what I would consider to be "a new breed" of controller. So there is going to be some learning curve. You know, when I see comments like yours, and I totally get where you're coming from, I really wish there was a company out there that offered a "a la carte" service. But it probably would be extremely expensive to maintain, with that said, maybe some customers will be interested in that. The rebuilds of Dualsense controllers kind of employ that concept but they don't have access to the latest tech from China very often. Plus, they can't remove Sony's stamp on the boards.

    Alps potentiometer sticks are like a wired connection because there is a physical contact between metal thingy and carbon to track your stick movement. HE/TMR sticks are more like a wifi/wireless connection because they use magnetic wave. So potentiometer sticks will always be more accurate and consistent then HE/TMR sticks.
