I made the Ulundhu VADAI, + TIFFIN/HOTEL SAMBAR yesterday! The 2 ingredients that made a difference in your Mom’s sambar recipe was Pottukadalai and grated coconut! Both my daughter and husband were blown away and by the amazing taste and couldn’t get enough of it! Also the Sambar reminded me sooo much of my Mom’s similar lip-smacking dish! Also I had not ever used a wet grinder and after buying one this past week, dear Maami’s useful tips on how to grind Idly-Dosa batter in it was greatly helpful. After I ground my Idly batter and made super spongy soft Idly’s and Mini idly’s, my daughter finished all of the 6 mini Idly plates of Idly’s! (FYI - All these years I used to grind Idly batter only in my Premier Mixie) So the Wet grinder Batter Idly was totally super soft and amazing! God Bless you dear மாமி & மாமா (Maami & Maama)and Mr. Ganesh and all your family. You both have truly been sacrificial in sharing and made a super special difference in our lives!

Mami, in our house, we first boil vegetables with little bit salt and turmeric powder. When it is half boiled, after that only, we add Puli jalam. If you put Puli jalam first, the vegetables will not get smashy and it took long time to boil. This is my and my elders opinion.

I remembered this even when you explained how to eat the dosai with that cold pressed nallaennai in your last videl. I have never tried this version of Avial. Will definitely try once.
