Thanks for this Sam i have this problem in a victorian 2 storey house in the ground floor backroom. The crumbling chimeny pot flaunching needed re-instating as part of log burner install, after completed I still got yellow stains on chimeny breast walls, they came through zinser stain block, i couldnt work out how, thought it must be years of water ingress through flaunching, making its way down the chimney, but as you explained on one of your vides that is highly highly improbable, so Sulphate salts are the explanation that actualy makes sense. Top chap ;-)

Nice one, Sam. You’ve just saved me a small fortune and a load of mess! Just looked on their website and the Flex Membrane is out of stock. You don’t have any off cuts I could buy off you do you? I only need about a two metre length to do the chimney breast in my daughters attic bedroom and I only live in Stairfoot so I could come and collect it if you have any spare.
    Cheers!
