8/27/23 Liz- unsure if you’ll ever read this post but still putting it out there! You have the BEST instructional videos on bra making/alterations bar none!!! Thank you for creating these-they have been huge in solving the trouble areas for each bra pattern. Luv you, luv your videos🥰❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much for the very informative video! I am just starting up with the first tester and three of these tips already made it look much better!
I love you! You have taken one of my biggest struggles, and solved my problems! I have an odd shape anyway, I’m older, and I’ve had breast cancer surgery, so my girls aren’t the same size any more, and bra fitting was always very frustrating. Most bras are designed around younger girls. In my size, they are either too boring, or too unrealistic, not to mention.....expensive. And yet they still don’t fit right, or be comfortable! I made the Maya bra, using your videos. I then made the alterations using your videos. This is the best fitting, most comfortable bra I’ve owned in a very long time (like back in my youth when I was slimmer and perkier🤪). I was even able to add some foam in one side to compensate for my lumpectomy. I hope you realize how much you’ve changed my world, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart❣️
Earlier I watched whilst I was sewing, now because I can't sleep. These videos are lovely and familiar - this time I am not even watching to learn. It's just nice. 🥰
I'm so happy you reposted this video. I was struggling to understand how to adjust my cup size after surgery for a perfect bra cradle fit found pre-surgery. Very helpful information.
Wow! This is the first time I've ever even slightly understood how to modify a pattern. If you ever make a similar kind of video in the future, may I humbly request some pictures of the kind of fit issues you're referring to (gaping, digging in at the shoulder, etc.) I think that would also help me understand more. Thank you again for all your tutorials.
Wow! This is such good and complete information. I’ve been thinking of making my own bra for a little while. This video gives me the confidence that I can do all the adjustments I need. (I already know I’ll need a few.)
This video cones just in time! I have sewn my first bra just yesterday and will look into the modifications I need to make to make it perfect. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Thanks for the great video! I have a few questions, hope you don't mind answering:) 1. I usually have 'pointy' issues with darted bra, so you have any tips for this? 2. You said that you use 40 size wire but need to reduce the volume. I wonder how they do it in commercial bras, I thought they have the same cup for all 40 size wires(42A,40B, 38C etc.) So do all these bras just never fit right for you?
I just started to plan my first bra, and thought I was lost with my sizing- and now I found this video and you did the same alterations that I was about to make (I have an A cup but a 34-36 wire fits best). I'm so relieved and exited to go on.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have a smaller bust, so for the 2 patterns I have I have to downgrade the cups which has been a nightmare for me to get a ok fit
This is absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much for making the time to make such detailed and clear videos! It was incredibly helpful when trying to figure out how to fix all my fit issues.
Thank you so much this was very easy to understand. I fit pretty well in the Black beauty bra but have a little bit of issues due to a similar body type to you plus I just finished breastfeeding so I'm going to try some of these alterations and see if I can get an even better fit.
This will be super helpful! I'm nearly done with my first bra but I suspect that I'll need to add a little volume because I have a very narrow wire but I'm very projected. Now I'll know exactly what to do!
Great review, clearly describe. Just made my first personal bra. I have learned the construction of the bra....but my sizing is so far out it's depressing, I didn't really appreciate the great job my bra fitters did. Practice practice practice.
Is adding or reducing volume in a vertical seam cup basically the same as the example in your video? I'm just second guessing myself as to where I should slash to. I know to slash from the bust point but any tips on deciding where to place the other point?
Amazing videos. You have made my bra making experience amazingly successful. I was terrified to start the process till I saw you videos and then began watching All of them. My one question here is how do you undo a split bottom cup? I have the Afi Elegance pattern fitting perfectly (I think) but now I want to make it a horizontal line between the upper cup and the two lower cups. You mentioned needing to change your patterns back to a two cup pattern to do that. I’m sure I’ve seen you do that on a video but I have watched so many I can’t remember which one it is if you did so if you have done that in another video, can you let me know which one it is and I’ll watch it. Otherwise, any suggestions on how to do that?
I had to shorten my upper cup piece (grapefruits in socks syndrome) which worked great however, I’d like more coverage under the arm. Wouldn’t adding that negate what I did to shorten that piece? Also, I’m assuming I’d also need to add to the power bar where I’ve also changed the strap position? TYIA.
Do you have advice on making a bra *more* pointy? My issue is that I have so much inner fullness that I had to make a 5-part lower cup pattern, and it has a "snub-nosed" area perhaps 3" wide on the front of the cup instead of a pointy or rounded area. The only thing I can think of to fix this is to split the center lower cup piece in 2 and follow the opposite of, "How to make a bra cup less pointy," tutorial. I wonder if you have any suggestions, or if you've made a video you'd suggest for this fit issue?
Do you have recommendations for altering patterns to greatly increase the immediate projection at the wire line? I've been struggling to find not only ready to wear garments but also patterns that fit this particular need.
Hello Liz! Very much enjoying all of your videos. They are so helpful! I'm working on fitting my first bra, the Darcy Bra. It has vertical seams rather than horizontal. To increase the cup volume, could I use this same process with opening a hinge at the apex on the inner and outer cups?
I found your videos a few months ago when, half way through making the Maya bra, I realized the instructions on the designer's website are not complete. I frantically went looking for help and am so very happy to have found your channel! This week I finished my second Maya bra, with alterations to the frame and band, and am much happier with the fit. I still need a couple changes to the cup, and am curious in which order to do them. On the upper outside of the cup, I need to do the alteration for more coverage, but I also need to close up some gapping on the outer part of the upper cup (the frame fits well, it is just the outer upper cup that needs adjusting). My question is, which alteration should I make first, please?
I recently found your videos love them. I have bought and made the emerald erin black beauty. I am a 32 FF, I find this bra pushes me outward a bit much. Which bra pattern would you recommend for someone who wants a more rounded bra. Also do you have a video of making the cups different. My left breast is a cup different then my right. How would I adjust this? just make the cup bigger like you describe here? Thanks so much. Can't wait to make more bras!
I love the detailed explanations you give us! I have one question, which pattern would you recommend for someone with a small cup (usually A) I have the feeling most bra patterns are mostly for fuller cups and I feel quite lost on where to start...

Great to see this video again. No one else discusses this on utube. Liz is a genius and explains this so very well.
Once again, Liz, you hit it out of the park! Informative, easy to follow , and well paced…
All of your videos have gems for every viewer!

This is GOLD! Thank You for all the wonderful information
This is great information ... the visual of how to do the various adjustments is so helpful!
Hi, loving your videos, would it be possible to do more videos on adding volume to cover what to do with patterns with multiple pieces?
Thank you so mich Liz. That was super helpful and wonderfully explained. 🌸
Thank you for sharing this tips, rrrealy helpful for understanding how drafting works!

I would do fitting changes first ( the gaping) before tackling style changes like coverage
@@LizSews Thank you!
My bra has too many fabric folds (fold pleats ) at underarm position , can you help me to suggest adjusting the pattern?
Is there information on how to deal with uneven cup sizes to make the finished bra not look uneven?
Thank you

I would check out patterns by emerald Erin or Madalynne
Do you typically need to increase volume after reducing pointiness?
i have not found that to be the case
