As others have said, what a marvelous performance. The soloists are all excellent and the choir is exquisite especially in the later accompaniment at 1hr 31mins. If this was available to purchase I would certainly do so. What an apposite and respectful tribute to Sir Colin Davis. I noticed how the conductor held the silence at the end which is so good as it allows the audience to make the transition from the musical world to that of the ordinary. I was pleased that all the applause at the end was shown as I had the vicarious pleasure of being there.
Et surtout, s'il est deux pays qui ont compris, aimé les œuvres de Berlioz c'est bien la Russie et .... la Grande-Bretagne et apprécié mieux et plus que les Français conservateurs, de l'époque contemporaine à Berlioz.

That Sir Colin Davis "rediscovered" Berlioz is a bit of a stretch.
Exactly. Charles Munch, Jean Martinon, Pierre Montreux?

@@orientaldagger6920. Not forgetting an even earlier champion, Thomas Beecham. How Berlioz ever fell out of favour is beyond my comprehension.

Is there a more annoying piece than this one?
And is there anything more annoying than someone airing their smug prejudice?
What a fool.
Do not reproach Oriental Dagger, who is merely carrying on the old French tradition.
