One of the very first Godzilla movies I ever watched as a kid and it has become one of my personal favorite Godzilla movies of all time. This movie also came out the same year I was born.
After the 98' Debacle, Toho didn't want the Emmerich film to be the western experience of Godzilla. But to be fair, we gotta thank 98' Goji for reviving the franchise, and showing us all one of the best Godzilla incarnations to date.
Funny you should say that because I had no exposure to OG Godzilla back in the very early 2000s in my country, so the '98 was the only version I knew about when I was a wee kid. When I first started browsing the Internet while over at my aunt and uncle's place and Googled Godzilla, I pretty much made the same assumptions about whether or not it was a sequel lol
I had a PARTY to celebrate the return of the REAL Godzilla, then saw this movie at a DRIVE IN! I was so HAPPY that the JAPANESE gave Roland Emmerich the FINGER and brought the REAL Godzilla back!😊
