    I marvel at how officers withstood being on the open bridge in a North Atlantic winter gale dressed in duffle coats!

    I sailed on her farewell cruise as a young sea cadet 1970 I think.

      How did you find the pitching up and down in the ordinary seamen’s quarters in the prow? Must have been ‘uncomfortable’ to say the least!

      ​@@stephensmith799I can't remember much, but I remember watching a movie in the canteen at night and we were bouncing around a bit. We slept in an electrical compartment on camp beds, it was only 3 nights.

    I served on a similar class of destroyer for one year, H.M.S Chieftain. A little disappointed there was no visit to the seaman's messdeck.

      Unfortunately not all of the ship is accessable, but is still a pleasure to visit.

    I must confess to being ignorant of this ships preservation! I knew Canada had a Tribal destroyer preserved but was unaware of HMS Cavalier. Thanks

    She was called " the laughing Cavalier" because her moral was so good.
