- Awesome scenic drive down Utah Route 95 from Hanksville to Blanding Utah. This drive takes you through beautiful Glen Canyon Recreation Area and Bears Ears National Monument. It's beautiful the entire time with near endless amounts of off roading and boondocking available. Stop off at Hog Spring Rec area for a picnic along the way, then a stop at the Hite Overlook to enjoy the breathtaking views! Well, whatdayaknow. I once lived in Hanksville in 1962-64. My dad worked for the FAA at the Flight Service Station at the little airport, four miles North of town (towards Green River).
Every morning, I rode a school bus 70 miles West to the High School in Bicknell and 70 miles back in the afternoon. Twice through Capital Reef each day. Everybody on the bus was closely related, including Vern Jackson, the bus driver. Two of my classmates you may have met, Fern and Carl Hunt. Perhaps you saw his roadside attraction? Carl's Critter Garden.

what an odd coincidence that you are posting these at this time. My daughter and Son in law are heading out and they have picked the southern part of Utah from hearing me tell them about how beautiful it is, When she asks me about something I can tell her to look you guys up and follow along your trip. When I was kid about 25 years ago all that was covered in water clear up to the bridge you drove over we used to take our boats up the two rivers under the bridge Unfortunately with California taking all the water and to many dry years now you have to go down to bullfrog to see the lake.
You drove right past some world class canyoneering slot canyons that are along highway 95. Years ago after completing a slot canyon, I went to hanksville to get a burger. On the way back to camp a flash flood had spilled over highway 95 and made it impassable for about an hour. It's an amazing area.

How cool. Thanks for sharing this. I'm not sure when it was filmed but I just got back from a week in that area (May 4 - 11) and loved every minute of it! I took Route 95 on something of a whim on my way back north from Valley of the Gods because I didn't want to drive through the traffic snarl that was/is Moab. I was staying in Green River for a couple of nights. I loved the surprise (to me) drive along that road so much that I cancelled the plans for Goblin and Cathedral Drive the next day and came back to here early, entering from the Hanksville side before sunrise. I drove as far as the turn off for Bears Ears to let the sun come up a ways and then drove slowly back taking pictures. Lots of pictures! 😂 I had an absolute blast. Next trip I'm going to take some of the side roads leading away from 95 and do some serious exploring. Enjoy your travels!

I wonder if you could have fit in Natural Bridges campground? Wow, its been 30 years since i was down there! Better get me a starlink and go down there!!😊
The campground there is for smaller campers or RV’s. We visited a year ago.
Did you try getting a spot at Bridges National Monument Campground? Also a beautiful place south of where the video ended. Do you know the difference between a bridge and an arch?
