These cars were NO WHERE NEAR as bad as they were made out to be. I knew of several people who had YEARS of trouble free motoring with these vehicles. They were just as good as any of the competition of the day. My brother bought a 20 year old one and it past its MOT with flying colours !!
The 1800 B Series was a rapid engine on acceleration. Long stroke I believe. 1799 overhead Valve. Girlfriends Father had an S registered 1.8 Super. Hearing aid beige with a brown roof . CIRCA 1984 ~1985. That car would push you back in the seat when he booted it in 1st and second gear. TMU 22S . Problem was he drove it hard thus needing a new gear box and Diff. Happy days. 😂
I had two marinas1300 and1800 the later was the estate that car took meand myfamily all over on our holidays the major problems with the cars was the front shock obsorbers and trunion set up and the rear brake wheel cylinders siezing up so i bought new shocker / trunions and wheel cylinders and the car passed the test mostly
Had the same gearbox as the Triumph Toledo, but with a different input shaft. I was a real weakness. Horrible growly bearings, and buggered synchros. An ok looking car. Avenger or Hunter wagon for me, sorry.
