I had a couple of Quail lay eggs in my BlackBerry bushes where there is a lot of thicket. All of their babies stayed around my yard and still here for the winter. They have been eating some bird seed I have been putting out for the colder and winter season. I do have pines and scrub oak in my yard that provides shelter as well.

Excellent. It’s unfortunate that shrub planting is challenging in my area-too many deer! Adds another step in deer abatement.

I love these videos. So much wonderful information. I guess a blackberry thicket would be too thick?

I'm no expert but some of the other videos on this subject said blackberry was good but it needed to be cut back periodically so it didn't get too big or grow so hawks could access the base.

Climates are so different for every county. I don't understand his feel at all.
