In the front row of The Rex you could see the odd frog hopping around , it was close to the river . The Grand was a dump and somehow , God knows how , the projectionist managed to get the picture playing upside down during a showing of Hercules Unchained .
My childhood was spent on a saturday morning club at the odeon...... and a free entry on your birthday.... brilliant days ....
Hi Dave - Happy Days indeed - thanks for your memories - PAUL.
Al Bowlly the great singer- made his last appearance at the Rex - on April 16th, 1941 - he returned to London that night and died in the blitz
I was a projectionist at the Rex in 1960.
Hi Tom - Thanks for your interesting comment. No doubt I was in the audience when you were in the box - PAUL.
when the Odeon was demolished, they also demolished the old 18th century Red Lion Inn, an act of vandalism.
Too true John - I guess they call it progress! - Thanks for commenting - PAUL.
i remember the palace inside in Frogmoor. In my memory it is massive but if it was still there i'm sure it would be much smaller
I saw star wars and grease at the cinema on frogmoor :)
