As much as I love Nirvana, THIS is real grunge. Nirvana was more on the awkward side, like Beat Happening and Sebadoh. But this is ballsy as hell. Testosterone-fueled madness. Music with all its pretense justified by qualification for one thing: rock, and fucking, roll.
I forgot about this song! I forgot how much I loved it. That was a nice 13 second consistent rock scream vocal section @ 3:19. That's moving into Chester Bennington territory. Mark Arm is awesome!

I had limited edition purple vinyl of this masterpiece album .. sold with rest of collection to Au Go Go records in lane in Melbourne (sadly long gone) when French girlfriend wrote to me to ask if I wanted to go to Mexico to see the day of the dead celebrations.. (best decision of my life)…I just hope that record is still out there somewhere bouncing off a needle and annoying the neighbors.
Funny you should say that because when Wayne got a version of MC5 together about 12-15 yrs ago he picked Mark to take Tyners vocal duties and he straight killed it every night. Evan Dando and Marshall Crenshaw also sang a few songs but Mark owned those songs he sang.
No one wants to talk about Mudhoney as the greatest punk band ever cause they come from an era where labels and branding were way more rigid. But lets be real this is a punk outfit thats been fuckin around since I was born in some form or another and laughing all the way to the bank.
One time I was in Reno Nevada and went to the local gentlemen’s club, and I proceeded to tell the dancer that I was the bass player for MUDHONEY and was just in town for the night in the midst of “our” tour….details are not necessarily needed as we all have a good imagination, but yes, it did work…. She went back to my hotel room and is probably still telling her girlfriends that she had sex with the bass player for MUDHONEY….classic….oh and by the way…sickness didn’t come to me as I was worried it might…..thank you sir for your loan of fame….it was very well used!!

That looks like a Teisco guitar that Steve is playing.. Anybody else know what kinda guitar that is? Its got the square Gibsonish head stock & dual humbuckers but i know that's not a Gibson model...
The bad than have the pioneer grunge bands is no keep in the genre and music style, they changed all time of music style and it's very boring for We than listen and like Grunge.
When I was in high school (2006) there was a brief outbreak of moshing at a school dance, and they shut it down right quick. We only made it through half of that Fallout Boy song. Amusingly, most of the moshers weren't any of the punky/burnout crowd you would expect it from.
This classic Mudhoney tune has never rang more true...I’ll bet they aren’t cancelling shows OR washing their hands obsessively! They’re just too gnar for some mass hysteria induced case of the bad beer sniffles!

it was a music scene, they shared influences, it's happened over and over again throughout the years. Nirvana were just able to make more radio friendly music
