I think Furquan’s critique is one of the best I’ve ever heard. His deep understanding of product and subtle sensation as a designer all inspired me on how to critique a product organically. Thank for sharing!
I agree that trying to find a specific podcast to listen to is a little tricky. Occasionally I find my self clicking / tapping around until I remember where to find them.
I am wondering while being asked about any product, what if I am not aware of that product? Or I am aware but I have not used that product much to go too deep into it to critisize or to find improvements??
For the lyrics section Musixmatch is used, which relies a lot on volunteer curators to write lyrics and sync them (especially for less popular artists). IMO the lyrics should be only displayed if they are up to standard otherwise it's a poorer experience than having them static or not there at all. Great video.
Is it typical in product critique interviews to pull up the product and go through it? Would this question only be asked in a Spotify interview, or could it be asked in a different company’s interview?

Thanks for having me on the channel, it was great being able to do an app critique on Spotify! 🙌

this is wonderful critique session. I loved it, gave me chance to see things from other people lens.
Thanks for the kind words!
I agree the personalization on Spotify can be improved based on your listening habits.
Great video and critique! Excellent depth & breadth covered by Farquan.

It's likely another company could ask this question. I interviewed with Meta before and they asked me a question about Doordash for example.
Is there a pattern on how to approach app critique questions? Or verticals we touch?
There is! And we released a whole course on the topic. www.tryexponent.com/courses/product-designer-interview
Please make more product design app critique
Please do some engineering manager mock interviews.
What if you've never used Spotify before, or don't use it as much?
He prepared and rehearsed for this video, his response is not indicative of his real response to a surprise app selection on an interview
