Kargil Story: Brigadier Amul Asthana | Leading Bravest of the Brave | TFC Amar Jawaan

- Brigadier Amul Asthana had led 1/11 Gorkha Rifles in Kargil battle. One of his teams was tasked to clear enemy positions in order to prevent his battalion from getting exposed in the daylight. The battlefield was Khalubar. He astutely led his battalion. In this story he narrates the valiant acts of Lt. Manoj Kumar Pandey, Param Vir Chakra and other soldiers, whose daredevilry finally led to the recapture of Khalubar and other points.
my brother sacrificed his life in Kargil 1999 capturing rocky knock, captain haider Ali para commando, I still remember when his body came rolled in flags. He used to tell me I am the lion that's why my name is Haider. Still I miss him, he might be looking from apsaras.
I was 2 years old when my father, a fighter pilot in the IAF, laid down his life in the 1965 war. Still, to hear you narrate your experiences during Kargil, brought tears to my eyes.
A thank you to your father for his supreme sacrifice for the country brother.

Dear Amul, if you are reading this, did you study at DPS Mathura Road in New Delhi by any chance? I was your junior. If you are the same, then know that we from Himalaya Hall especially Nishikant and Vishal remember the day you beat the Bharat Kesari at Hanuman Singh's (?) Akhara in New Delhi, while still in school! Very proud of you.
captain vikram batra's sacrifice cant be ignored but dont forget captain manoj pandey too..he didnt leave any painful love story behind that doesnt mean people of india should not talk about him... infact every soldier who martyred in the war is worth remembering ...

I was in class 8th and i refused to celebrate my Birthday on 7th July as we lost many Men on that particular day!!! And many more have done the same!!
Group of beggars contributed 1.5 lakhs towards Kargil fund, We don't even care for them but even they are patriots and wanted to see our forces victorious, emotional stuff.
We civilians can't even imagine our army's hardship and dedication in the midst of all the adversity and still thrash our enemy to shreds we can proud and we can feel grateful

Manoj Kumar Pandey's (PVC posthumously) pic In my wallet and he is my idol since my childhood, when I came to know about kargil war. I also wanted to join the army but couldn't clear SSB. I was from this area were kargil war was fought I was in 2nd I know how hardship we face that time.
The war was fought with bravely by many unsung heroes.
But unfortunately few are glorified and others are neglected to recognise.
Even the civilians of Dha, Darchik,Garkhone, Sanachey and Batalik bravely helped the army to fought the war.
Without local support, military can't fight. Thanks people of Kargil and Ladakh.

Gurkhas are the bravest sons of mountains... Indian Army should recruit boys from North East regions as much much as they can they are used to mountains.
Till date I get goosebumps after listening all these Kargil stories. Salute to our soldiers our heroes.

Whole story was narrated its such a inspiring and motivating to join a army , but the last part Brig. Sahab you intentionally discribed about patriotism of citizen beggers ..made me very emotional ... That our country is actually very integrated internally but politics always ruined it separated it with every possible way .. Wish airforce could launch mirrage attack in May, then we would not loose so many brave souls.they were so young . In stead of 26th july, iaf should launch mirrage attack in May...
IAF have attacked in May itself but many of the fighters were shot down by the Stingers .. So in some of the difficult terrains only infantry is used with the help of artillery support ....
And where did he said that IAF has only attacked on 26th ....????

Rifleman Lincoln pradhan Darjeeling he shot 10 times. His body was looks like a loaf of meat.
There are lots of Gorkha soldiers who sacrifice his life but they never highlighted why????

I was 6 year old and we are Jammu kunjwani, my father unit 13j&k we had a air attack on kunjwani cantt, familys had an instruction during air attack stay together and no light should be on if you can't turn down just damage that light and Pitts were made for air attack we 6 family lived together during night time for a week
