I'm currently reading Consorting with Spirits and it's beeing a great read. It's been a long time since the last time I enjoyed an occult book this much.
@@tina4913 Not an easy aswer actually 😅you could say it's mostly about demons, but for people who do not necesarilly believe in / work with demons. The author uses the "traditional occultist invocation type" and broadens it in a way you can apply it to fae and deities. Not direct reference to fae or ancestors..as far as I recall. Sorry, my memory sucks.
As a former Franciscan Postulant, almost Novice, as soon as I heard "Pagan Monasticism" I almost threw my phone trying to pull up my kindle app 😂 I had no idea pagan/interreligious monasteries existed!
Spirit work looks like a good read, but that last book absolutely has my attention for sure, devil worship and working with them has always been fascinating! Good stuff Ivy! 🤘👹🖤
Thank you, I always appreciate your perspective. Not to mention, you always come up with books I haven't heard of for the most part. Another thing I appreciate about your book reviews is I know you read them by the way you are able to associate them with your own lifestyle and bring up something rare that grabbed your attention. I'm not saying others don't read them. But, you give us something to sink our teeth into or know by your description that it's not for us. Thanks for those things, they matter at least to me. You are Blessed!
Hahaha!! You've been on my mind, friend! I just finished finals this week and it was brutal. 😂 Will be getting back on the discord next week! Also, hell yeah to books 🥳
@@IvyTheOccultist AH!! How did they go?! I've been sending you good luck/success energy. Grats on knocking them out!! 🥳🎊 I look forward to our next chat. Ttys! 💜
I haven’t even finished the video yet, but I just have to stop to comment that I’m super excited to add “consorting with spirits” to my tbr! I’ve seen the title and assumed it was more human spirit focused and this sounds way more exciting to me!
Yes!!! Oh I hope you love it! The second half of the book was probably my favorite when he talks about some of his own experiences with demons. So interesting!
I finally ordered consorting with spirits yesterday and today I bought protection and reversal from Barnes & Nobles. Is there two different versions of the second book? The cover on the one I got looks very different from yours, but it's by the same author. Always loving these book recommendations. Wonderful job as always Ivy!
Thank you! So Jason Miller just published a revised version. You got the newer version and I have the old one from a couple years ago. I've been actually meaning to get the newer one because I wonder what his revisions are... But it should still contain the same content from what I understand ☺️
All these books seem so interesting! Great recommendations, Ivy!! 📚📖 Ahaha I do that too. Study everything, and blend into a unique practice! Plus, I love studying different cultures & practices. It's fascinating and it aids me in understanding others' and their practices.
Death Nesting [Cocooned] caught my attention having just seen it this last week at having to go out to check about the internet being cut off at this end, for writing to a Rabbi concerning ~ calligraphy ~ relating the Hebrew Letters origin. Personally, I see it as the science of a collapsing star that has went Nova having attached satellites {history}s concerning material lines, relational/relations local with correspondences cross-roads.
Thank you for your book recommendations! I’m still trying to make my way through Condensed Chaos 😂 I get distracted by romantasy books. So many books, so little time! I also find it hard to stick to my TBR because I’m such a mood reader. Thank you for mentioning the Llewelyn complete book of … series. I have the correspondences book, but I didn’t know they had books on lucid dreaming and ceremonial magic. When I’m practicing magic for myself these days, I find that I stick to folk magic with goal setting. I also practice trance work in combination with prayers to my Lord and Lady. I’m working on a tea that will heighten my trance work.
Hahaha I completely understand being discussed by romantasy books! ACOTAR is great for that 😂 love that you are working with a Lord and Lady and love the idea of crafting a tea!! ❤️❤️
Ohhh let me know your thoughts after reading it! History is tough for me to sit through but I felt like it was so interesting learning about the rebellion! 🙌❤️
I do have a couple of Jason Miller's Books and I just his Prosperity and his Protection Book, Been wanting his Consorting with Spirits since I've seen it for pre-ordered. Death Nesting looks real interesting and that will be added to my wishlist. The Llewellyn's Correspondance is also the one I'm planning on getting and keeps popping up. Thank You for taking the time to make this video. Ivy~Kel
Green Man has so far been the only masculine spirit/deity that has reached out to me, like literally busted at my door…with tree branches 😂 one thing I know for certain is the horned god has a hard knock and live free-die well zest for adventure in most, if not all of his many aspects lolololol
Have you made any videos on the witches devil? I’ve been hearing a lot about the concept on social lately and felt some kind of way from, ya know, ~religious trauma~ but I’d trust your input!
Since we are talking about books, I think it would be really fun if you would put up a poll for a book to read each month. You could do this with channel members only. We could choose a buddy read and then discuss the book at the end of the month.
That would be so fun!! I don't think I can take on organizing anything additional right now, but once my schooling is done I've really been wanting to set up some sort of a bookclub. Definitely something worth revisiting! ❤️
Hi Ivy! In your video doing charms and talismans where did you get the wooden bowl you used and the tins that looked like art deco design tea tins. You had three of them. Thanks!
Hi there! I just went through the whole video and I didn't see a bowl or any tins used in the ritual so I'm not sure which ones you're referring to. But I will say, everything I own either comes from a thrift store, Michael's craft store, or the Witches Moon subscription box company. You can also order things from the Witches Moon on their website! I hope that helps.. if it's a bowl though, it's likely I got it from a thrift store ❤️
Oh the cannisters! I think that's what you mean by the tins. Yes, I have three of them to hold pens, pencils, and sharpies. I got those from the thrift store as well
PLEASE do a "bad" book review! I want the TEEEEEA Lmao. The Horned God of the Witches is on my list for sure. The Witch's Devil is on my list as well. I had my 25th birthday on Tuesday and OF COURSE I got books!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 I'll being doing a haul video soon. But I bought a book with some money I got it's called Speak Of The Devil How The Satanic Temple Is Changing The Way We Talk About Religion. I'm still on the first chapter but it's interesting and I'm excited to continue. The book also has a review by a guy called Jay Waxler who is the author of Our Non-Christian Nation: How Atheists, Satanist, Pagans and Others are Demanding Their Rightful Place in Public Life. Which naturally I added to my Amazon cart for future purchases.
LOL!! Ok first, those books sound great! Second, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! Third, I don't think I could shred an author publicly 😂😂😂 As much as I'd LOVE to share the tea, I'd feel so bad. Haha!
Hi while I do love your informative style here and how you explain things. I must say I not only disagree but want to point out that you've made a mistake (lot of people do unfortunately), somewhere around 17:04 of this vid you've claimed that "Devil" came from Christianity which is not only shallowing whole thing but also unfortunately incorrect from historic point of view :) "Devil" as a word might be later construct, however the entity behind it (which wasn't "evil" but that's a different story) does not stem from Christianity, as a concept "The Enemy" is rooted in Judaism, correct term for this entity also is not "Devi" which is more recent (as I've mentioned), but "Satan", which translates from Hebrew to "The Enemy", alas Christians just "borrowed" concept of "Devil" and incorporated it into religion. Everything which was not fitting term of "Saint" was almost immediately called "Devil", this process also took place in Slavic countries as well, deeming most of our Spirits devils and unholy, which (not surprisingly) was never true. My point is, "Devil" didn't came from Christianity but from their ancestor religion. Keep up the good work :) Cheers, V
Ah, thank you for enlightening me! I knew that Christianity took a lot from Judaism, but I'll admit I don't know much about Judaism at all. I wonder if I can edit this video now that it's up but I'm not sure I can. I appreciate you correcting me on this!
@@IvyTheOccultist Christianity taught nowadays does not mention MANY things and where they came from... unfortunately (or fortunately) when you actually read the Holy Bible you begin to notice that most of the claims from school / church are not true haha, as for vid, probably annotations would be best regarding the topic of Judaism and Proto-Judaism... well there is this channel "TheEsotericaChannel" where you can learn with more scientific approach to the topic, I do love Doc's remarks
