  • Take these results with a grain of salt. Your milage may vary depending on your cooling solution, and application. But I have done my best to bring you at least an idea of what you can expect from both products head to head.

I bought a Sapphire pulse 7700XT around 8 months ago and noticed that at idle (zero rpm fans) the card was becoming hot as 56-57 and this automatically turned the fans on. This bothered me as the fans are not silent and I only tolerate them during gaming. Anyway, to cut it short... I replaced the thermal paste (btw the factory paste they used was already hard and breaking into pieces as i cleaned it) and used Arctic MX-6. I spread a good layer evenly with a spreader. Now the temps never get hotter than 49-51 degrees with zero rpm fans/idle. It's not a big difference than before but it made me happy!

@Ladioz Very nice! Even e few degrees improvement is good, especially since now you are giving the card a little more headroom for boost.

@frazerxavier7295 Thank you, my brother from another mother!. I'm going to test the Cooler Master Violet paste next. It's supposed to be real good stuff. I'll test it on a bigger tdp card and cooler.

@@frazerxavier7295 Hehe. I have a stack of heatsinks and fans in my other room. I hoard this stuff. And I found that little ASUS Strix cooler which fit with just the washers. Works great!

@frazerxavier7295 Yes I agree. It was a badly needed face-lift after all this time with a crappy looking heatsink.
