The situation with James sounds exactly like the first months when I brought home my baby girl with my older son. I cried so much and felt so guilty. It turned into neutrality, and eventually an amazing bond. Now she’s 16 months and he is literally obsessed with her. They are best friends and never want to be without each other. It gets better ❤

The 1-2 transition gets SOOOOO much easier! I have a 3 and 2 year old and the first 6 months were really tough, but now each other is the first person the other asks for every time they wake up ❤ they’re little best friends and stick up for each other. It’s beautiful.

Love that your second pregnancy and postpartum journey was a better experience this time around. I also felt the same way, I think knowing what to expect helped so much vs being a new mom. My oldest son was 4 going on 5 when I had my second son and he was over the moon with his little brother.
Now that they are 6 and 20 months they are inseparable!

I have a little girl who is 3 years old and my baby boy was born March 1st. When you spoke about the transition I couldn’t help but get teary eyed because we went through something similar but just like you said - things are getting better! God bless your family ❤

My mom said the transition to two was the same as yours. I'm the younger sister to my older brother- 2 years apart. The first day mom and dad brought me home from the hospital....my brother looked at me and said, "send her back!". He then clubbed me over the head when he saw my mom nursing me for the first time and said, "DON'T BITE MOMMY!!" 😬😆 OOF! The boys don't always take too kindly to us little girls coming into the story. They get over it after a while.
Same story but my brother never got over my existence he’s 30 and I’m 28 and he still wishes he was an only child
Love how you and your mom have a special bond. Me and my mom unfortunately don't have the best relationship. So definitely will make sure me and my daughter are close

I think it really depends on age and temperament. My 4 year old boy didn’t miss a beat when his baby brother was born but I felt like he could understand what was going on! But all feelings are valid in those little ones, it’s hard going from all the attention to a lot less.

I brought home my baby boy in March and I have a toddler as well. I agree with you that bringing home the new baby was the hardest part, my toddler was not happy about it and I could feel he felt some type of way. I would cry bkus I felt like I betrayed him 😢

My 5th baby was my biggest 8lbs 4oz as well and baby number 6 is on the way .
It’s been 7 years since I gave birth, but one thing I’ll NEVER forget was the crazy bleeding after giving birth and having to wear a diaper. I’ll never forget the nurse helping me change my diaper and the moment I stood up I fainted. I never hear moms talk about that after birth 😅
Amelia was breaking the fourth wall when you were talking about how stressful it was with James and his lip tie. 😂😂 I think she was saying "mom... enough breastfeeding talk" 😂 (since you said on "that's the point" that you talk to much about it... idk I'm pregnant so I love to hear it!)
I’m pregnant with baby boy #2 and my first son will be turning 3 right when I have this next one. My first is such a mommas boy and is very much an only child. Haha! He sees his cousins all the time that are his age and I do all I can to get him involved in classes or take him to places to be around other kids, but I’m genuinely nervous about what the transition is going to be like. He actually loves looking at babies, but the second I’m holding one, he cries and says “I don’t like that.” Knowing your story and that you’re content with him being a the point where he kinda ignores that she’s around makes me feel a lot better about how I’m projecting the transition to go down. Haha! Who knows, he may surprise me, but Im kinda doubting it. I have two sisters that live by me both pregnant right now and due any minute (dream come true), so I’m hoping having 2 other babies around a few months before his brother shows up at least warms him up to the idea of me holding someone that’s not him. Haha

Wow a stranger in your own body. That’s exactly how I feel about my third baby. (Two weeks old!!) My first two I gained 27-30lbs but my third I gained 50lbs and I feel disgusting. I love love love my three babies and I’m happier postpartum than I was with my first two but my body is just like oh. Wow. I’m trying not to stress though

Was going to name my daughter Amelia until my partner told me he would just end up calling her Amy for short. Nothing wrong with the name Amy but just no 🥲 we ended up naming her Charlotte. Also my mother’s name was Jayne so my sister named her daughter Rory Jayne 🩷

i’m an amelia and my childhood nickname was also mila!! i switched to just amelia when i was about 6/7 because i was stubborn, but i still respond to it today and think its so sweet🩷🩷
I read that it literally takes the older child up to a year to transition to having a sibling, if it makes you feel any better, his reaction is totally normal 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
