This video certainly didn't go as planned but definitely hit the heart of some things I'm passionate about. While this isn't a direct response to the email I received, here are a few thoughts of mine. I'm curious to hear what ideas you have for making a change in the horse world. What would you like to see differently in the next 10, 20, or 30 years?
Hi Britta, I've been watching for awhile and I love this ramble. I love that your focus is on personal development as your work in kindness with your horses... it is a lovely example for me, an almost 60 year old coming back into horses after many, many, many years off. I am coming from a cowboy ranch background, knowing I cannot be with horses the way I was when I was a young woman. this is 100 percent my own development that I can then bring into the pen with my wild one, and my solid grandma mare. Thank you.
So excited about your progress with Raven and Theodore! Great job. I hope you get to learn what you hope to learn, and I know there's an amazing journey ahead of you to make the impact you want to make
You are correct changed need to happen with the horse world. I have had my old mate for 25 years and she will turn 29 in a few months. I no longer ride her and she is very expensive to feed but I can’t imagine ever getting rid of her. I think all the time about how few horses are fortunate to have one owner in their life (I got her at the place she was born). She has lived in 4 states and has moved 11 times with me. I wish that for all horses.
I read that horses typically change hands seven times in their lives? If true, I'm baffled as to why that would be. I've bought horses I intended to work with then sell, but after I got attached that was out of the question. Like you, I've had my two oldest seniors for 25, almost 26 years.
@ I have read that too. I think with horses it’s because they are in a lot of situations just a tool to do a job (carriage, ranching, etc). Horses straddle the line of being seen as pets by some and being livestock by others which are always looked at as disposable. But I also have a blind pet sheep so I’m not the norm and don’t understand most other people.
Actually I hope the horse world doesn't change that much...... Except for one major thing! I hope all horse people put their horses first and treat them with love! ❤❤
thank you my Bowie Kill pen filly is doing better-she was wild 1 1/2 years old and 16 HH at butt now-my other two i couldn't touch when i got them either-one an Oregon wild mustang and one underfed and neglected by my girlfriend-I am sending you some white light to your heart to uplift you deb thank you for calling me a hero -i feel like one i appreciate you
If you have ever watched Horse Plus Rescue, and seen what the vets go through determining who they can help and who needs the last act of kindness. Your heart can break everyday. I hope you can get yourself to run a rescue some day.😊❤
Hi Britta. I'm a new subscriber & have only watched a few of your videos but something has pulled me to your channel & the call to help horses of late. Horses are no different to the way people treat all animals (used for breeding, work, £ exchanges, control, submission dynamics) and thankfully things are being questioned more & heading in a new direction. Thats where people like you come in. Wild horses as you know need huge amounts of patience and & just as much respect. Gentle horse(wo)manship is a beautiful thing & something I'd love to see more of. Check out Stormy May who has great insight into this. Follow the calling & keep up the good work. The right messages will come through in the right time. 🙏❤

I think change in the horse world starts with setting good examples. Showing your gentle training and getting the word out there
You take care of your horses and share your knowledge ❤
