Thank you ❤ praise the Lord 🙏🏻 and I loved the intro on what to expect from a Monk relating to material things 😅 I hope we all get to leave these things behind
Thank you, Paloma. I wish I had responded more responsibly when I saw the neighbor's pickup stolen-I just couldn't believe my eyes. 😲 But after a few moments, we went to the neighbor, and when the Police came, I told them what I had witnessed. Even the Old Testament commands us to take care of our neighbor's donkey or ox if we find the animal overcome by the load or fallen into a ditch, so... But yes, to live totally free of any earthly attachment must be liberating. But what we have, we must also steward well.
Just to remove all doubt: I don't encourage anyone to follow my example of being completely paralyzed while my neighbor’s pickup was being stolen. Any good monk would have done more than I did to try to stop that thief, as we should love our neighbors as ourselves. Any good monk might give away his own possessions freely, but certainly not his neighbor’s property.
